Check the last page of pics and you can see some of the awesome new Six-String Masterpieces that have come in.   I am superstoked on the Ace Frehley guitar.  Ace is the reason Dime wanted to become a guitarist, so it is so awesome that Ace chose to participate in this project.

Also, there are guitars by Al Jourgensen and Paul Raven of Ministry and Cristina of lacuna Coil.

More guitars on the way from Slash, Jamie Jasta, Aaron Lewis, Alex Grey, Von Franco and Mark Ryden!

I take a moment of silence...

a moment of retrospection

a time to reflect a time to respect

what I have in my life today,

and to try to understand what has been lossed

senselessly...

it seems like it's only yesterday

since, but so long ago too....

something so tragic, that should have never happened,

hit us like an emotional holocaust

what the fuck what the fuck why why why

repeated over and over by thousands and thousands and thousands

the day Dime died.   just why...it can never be justified...

I saw the gleam on his eye in the eyes of so many who came to see this tribute on Ozzfest and at Family Values, so so  many stories about that "one time with Dime"... and I saw many cry looking at these amazing pieces..i have never seen artwork touch people like that...and I felt immense sadness from that, until they said thank you, that they needed some closure to this tragedy...and the art had helped them in a way, to say goodbye..

I appreciate and respect what Dime gave to the fans and to the music industry at large and I appreciate the gift of art and love that these special guitars represent,  they are each a gift from each of the artists who knew Dime, loved him and were inspired by him.  Amongst their immeasurable fame and talent these people took the time, when they have almost none that is not already spoken for, and gave a piece of their heart through the art on these instruments.

The goal of this exhibit is to help the next generation of rockers realize what a gift their talent and freedom is. And that no one should pay such a price like Dime for the freedom to do what he loved the most.   And we want to make more music available for them in schools across the US.  The auction of these guitars will be announced very soon at www.deanguitars.com/sixstringmp   and you can get on the list to bid or support or just see what happens.

What a gift it is, to be free to play music, however it sounds ,wherever you stand.  We should never live in fear of dying in that special place, the one that you create for yourself when you truly feel the music.

An artist strives to reach that sacred space where one is truly free with everything he has....for it to be taken away like it was for Dime I am forever regretful.... and it is a sad state that such a tragedy is even possible.  How? Why?

There is no going back now, we can only strive to make it better and prevent it from happening to anyone else.  So give some thought to making each day a little better, it can start by doing something for someone other than yourself...

Ozzy Osbourne, Ace Frehley, Cristina Scabbia-Lacuna Coil, Billy Gibbons, Paul Raven-Ministry, artist Alex Grey are just some of the artists still painting guitars for this monumental project. I am amazed...

Thanks for all of the interest and support and we hope to make a very solid donation to a worthy organization that supports music and art education. That announcement will come by the end of the year.  Keep in touch.

all the best,

We've just gotten home from The Family Values Tour with Korn, Deftones, Stone Sour et al....good times, great people...the exhibit (Six-String Masterpieces) was received with total fuckn shock & awe and dropping jaws on a daily basis, and several thousand people a day came through the gallery zone to marvel and these wondrous works of art...so it was a gratifying experience and many great stories were told about Dime...seems like that guy must have shared a drink with every freakin' metal freak on the planet...and made them smile....it's a rare talent...

Before joining Family Values we had bashed our way through most of Ozzfest.   What a trip!   Even more people than Family Values in the gallery...often times we needed bullwhips or tazers to keep those who don't read the DO NOT TOUCH signs from touching the art... but it's an educational process and I guess learning not to touch Art in order to see it is the first rule of the gallery world.     I met with OZZY and Sharon Osbourne.  Sharon requested a short meeting and they were very kind and thankful towards us bringing the exhibit out on tour.  So that was pretty cool...otherwise amongst the Ozzfest artists, Cristina of Lacuna Coil was totally the coolest, coming by to check out the art several times and keeping our spirits up with her charm.    Unearthed, Hatebreed and A Life Once Lost also threw it down well....the Jagermeister I mean...

One of the exhibit road cases fell on my head requiring a trip to the emergency room in Detroit.  It was the worst pain I ever felt and I thought I was in big trouble with a skull fracture...i ended up with two big cuts , now beautiful scars, and a dent in my skull that i can still feel...close call....thanks to Blake and Angela for getting me to the emergency room...

Another highlight of Ozzfest certainly would be the Bros. Grimm Sideshow...

it's good to be home, but we are planning the Winter 06 Spring 07 phase of touring the exhibit and then the auction will be right after all of that...

www.DeanGuitars.com/sixstringMP is where you want to go to log on for the auction info.... maybe you can own an original guitar painted by Rob Zombie....

keep it real...

all the best,

We recently created a special 100 page Collectors Issue of Guitar Player magazine called Six-String Masterpieces: The Dimebag Darrell Art Tribute.

As the name implies, it is devoted to this art exhibit, featuring spectacular photography by Will Hawkins.  This is the best look yet at this project.  It features highlights from various tours, exclusive photos of the artists painting their guitars as well as some very insightful articles revolving around Dime's relationship to Dean Guitars and the eventual creation of the Dime Razorback model guitars.  There is even some photos of Dime's original sketches of the Razorbacks.  This material has never been in print before.

Find it at your local cool guitar shop.....it's worth it.
