BLAK PROPHETS : 2ND COMING ALBUM
FATTJOINTZ/DIGITAL JUKEBOX

SCENERIORECORDS REVIEW

Product Description:
Blak Prophetz deliver a strong album over producer Sure Shot's accomplished beats. The vibe hearkens back to an earlier, more conscious era of Hip Hop, which is underpinned by the presence of Ced Gee (Ultramagnetic), and DJ Tony Tone (Cold Crush Brothers). You can't question their passion for the artform.

'The Second Coming'
(FJ Entertainment)
Something a little more uplifting from Blak Prophetz on this new banging CD. 'Action Speaks' features Anai and is a positive funk based joint, while the title track 'The Second Coming' is a nice posse cut with a more mystical vibe. Produced by Sureshot comes up trumps everytime and with some heavy special guests like Grafiq / Ced Gee from Ultramagnatic MC's spit fire on 'The Illest', a track that should put heads straight. Tony Tone from The Cold Crush Brothers steps up too for the proceedings and all in all it's a great solid album. Like something a bit more challenging then this is for you.

MR CRF MAGAZINE (BLAK PROPHETZ-2ND COMING)
Can you give us a bit of info on the other heads who feature on the Lp such as Anai etc?

No doubt. Anai is signed to FJ Entertainment as a solo artist in her own right and she features on the album as part of the FJE family. Anai sings and rhymes and is a fresh talent that we will be pushing over the next 12 months. Anai also gave certain tracks on the album like Action Speaks Louder Than Werdz and Remedy a different feel that will cater for audiences outside of hip hop but still maintain a hard edge so it worked out good. Heslin is another FJE artist who features on the album so again it was natural to have a collaboration with her on the album.

WWW.UNGRAP.DE (BLAK PROPHETZ-2ND COMING)
and where the great Anai in the love song "Remedy" is so beautiful as she sings in "The Power Of The ProphetZ" rapping, I would have of this interesting lady but the one or more other desired appearance. "The 2nd Coming" is totally well-managed, long-term remembered the many rap-historical references and perfectly chosen samples, which concentrated and quite ably performed chanting and the coherent overall concept of the album.

DJ HYPNOTIQUE
I reuploaded this track so all can see what Anai will be working with in the next couple of weeks. I sent her the raw material and the completed project less than an hour ago, knowing she'll give it the edge I couldn't give it on my own. A little about my collaborative counterpart: She was interviewed by MTV Germany and was hailed as "Manchester's best kept secret" And her tracks are the proof. I Absolutely love her raw vocal style. I know you will too. Check her page out under my favorites list. dj hynotique

MTV: Can you tell us a little about ur background, since a lotta germans probably never heard of you?

ANAI: Sure, My name is Anai im a female rapper/singer from manchester UK, i've been working within the industry for quite a while now trying to get my name out also featuring on numerous worldwide projects that are avaliable in stores such as HMV, Virgin megastores and selected record stores. Some know me as the daughter of Dave Quinn former band member for Leo Sayer aswell as working for many artists in the 80's such as linda lewis, mike and the mechanics, he also wrote  and co-wrote hit songs for Elkie Brooks "Too Much To Lose/NoMore The Fool. and more. he was also championed by the late John Peel, i've grown up around musicians and the way of life so in a way you could say im following in my dads footsteps, but i have my own journey to complete.

MTV: Is Anai your real name? If not, how did u come up with it?

ANAI: Anai is not my real name infact it used to be "Anais" but i had to change it for a few reasons including a cd that was released worldwide with my title as Anai so i decided to stick with that rather than confuse people with Anais afterwards. its a bit of a long story as to how i came up with the name but its a mix up of a few things, (Anais) means "Graceful" also my goddaughter is called Anayah (Anai) i was given the name by a friend of mine and it stuck once people got to know me, maybe one day i'll change it back to the original (Anais) once people know me enough not to get confused.

MTV: Are you gettin ready to release some new stuff? Fill us in....

ANAI: Yeah! right now im really busy working on a few projects with artists from all over the world, i have strong ties in the U.S aswell as the U.K, Germany and France!
im working on my solo album "The Re-Birth" which will hopefully be ready by the end of this year
Its Produced by BrothaBrown who is extremely talented and has blessed me with his production
theres also a couple of CD's avaliable now such as "MancStar Frequencies" and "Dirty North" which is a compilation of talented artists from Manchester Uk put together by D'arcangelsMancStar who i work closely with, im also going to be working on alot with the Black Piranhas which is a collective of talented artists from different parts of the uk formed by former so solid crew member Face, theres alot more coming up from me but right now im concentrating on my Solo project which is a must have!!

MTV: What is the Manchester Hip Hop scene like?

ANAI: The manchester scene right now is really starting to take off, when i first started doin this, i never realised how many talented people there were in my city, Manchester is finally being put on the map
and i have so much love for everyone trying to get out there and get recognised
obviously London is first in mind when you mention UK HipHop but i feel we have a different sound,
theres lots of artists from Manchester rising up now who rep the city to the fullest and are trying to make their mark out here like all of us.

MTV: We bumped into you on Myspace.... is that place ur main promo tool? How did myspace help you? Or did it?

ANAI: Myspace is a great place for networking, and there are so many talented people on there, i have had alot of requests and bookings from that site, its also free promotion which is good for any artist signed or unsigned , i wouldnt say its my main/only promo tool but it has certainly helped me to promote my music on a larger scale to places i couldnt of reached normally
theres also alot of major artists using myspace and they get to hear whats really going on in the underground.

MTV: How would you describe the style of Hip Hop you do?

ANAI: I dont like to say that i have a set style, i like to change up alot depending on who im working with or the vibe of the track im doing at the time, versatality is important to me although people know its me on a track,  i sing and rap so you never know whats coming next from me, i get compared to "T-Boz" sometimes when i sing which is a compliment but i really dont think so i dont think i sound like anybody but me, and dont want to be put into a catorgary, i like to be mysterious and keep the listeners wondering,
i could be quite laidback and then the next time you hear me it will be more in ya face, it all depends on my mood at the time and of course the feel of the track, theres going to be a mix of sounds from me on my album from slowjams to streetjams im doing it all, i dont have a limited sound.

MTV: Do you feel like you gotta work harder because you are a female in this man dominated genre?

ANAI: I think its more of a respect thing, if your a female and you have something to offer you will get alot of attention regardless, if you look good thats a bonus, but i think sometimes looking good can overshadow the fact that you have skills and so many labels out here today are giving the wrong inpression by signing females that cant sing or rap but look great, so yes it does make me work harder to get respect for what i do and not just how i look, its a shame to see some females more concerned about selling sex rather than just being real in their music, but its what the industry has done.
there are so many hard working female artists out there that dont get the respect they deserve.

MTV: Do you remember your very first Hip Hop experience that led to you wanting to grab the mic yourself?

ANAI: Haha!! OK!! i was a rebel child who didnt want to go to school so in order to get me in for a full week they sent me on a course at a local college called steps, where i would go for 2 days and then to school for 3 days
you could choose from photography, acting or recording studio for the days you were at the college, thats where i fell in love!! i had always been around music but never had the chance to persue it on my own untill that point. i was 14 and had started to write my own songs so it was only a matter of time before i was recording them, from that point on i knew thats what i wanted to do, and the rest is history. its crazy when i look back at how far i've come, but yet i still have so far to go, its just a great feeling knowing your doing what you love and im grateful for all the help i've had along the way even if i didnt realise it at the time.

MTV: What do you usually do right before a live show?

ANAI: Im real laidback usually beforehand, i like to be focused and ready to give a good show, every show is different im usually calm and collected then i get on and i have all this energy and attitude
i like to talk to the people who are there, im always mingling with the crowd

MTV: What were your personal highlights of your career so far?

ANAI: I'd like to think the best is yet to come, but its been a great feeling doing shows and the crowd know my lines and will sing along, also finally getting support from certain industry heads, the support alone is a highlight, everyday something happens and its a step futher from before
just the fact that people know who i am and wait for new releases is an acheivment in itself

MTV: How do you plan to really break into the market and be recognized?

ANAI: I dont want to come along and say, look what my dads done, blah blah
i want to do this myself, i mean people know and its no secret, he helps in certain ways i have his support and advice at all times and thats enough for me
i've worked so hard these past years and made my own desicions i feel now is my time
im a fresh female artist who can sing and rap not many artists can do both so i plan to use the gift i have and dominate both the R&B and Hiphop world
i dont want to be marketable to a limited age group either, im doing something for everyone to relate to.
i would like to recognized as a strong independent female artist but not ya typical chick, i go hard with it!

MTV: Name 3 things you would never do for success!

ANAI: I will never do something im not comfortable with to get on/signed,
ladies need to be stronger, and theres alot of men that will take advantage of you in this game
i think thats the main 1 out of the 3 being a female in the industry

i will never let anyone make me change my style of music or image
i've studied my craft i can only get better and study more, this is what i am, love me or hate me!

i will never sell my people out for a quick payout
loyalty is so hard to find in this game
and so many artists take the first offer they get and forget where they came from
Never forget where you came from!!!
