UNHERD: Manifest Destiny
Sunday, April 06, 2008

Our friends.

We invite you to experience history in the making.

If you’re from my generation, you may or may not know that there has been a federal court battle going on over the Eagle Mountain Landfill for nearly 20 years.

In 1992 Kaiser Ventures and Mine Reclamation Corporation (MRC) received permission from Riverside County and BLM to build the world’s largest landfill.

This dump would accommodate 40 million pounds of solid waste per day for 117 years.

This landfill is bordered on three sides by our own Joshua Tree National Park. The LA County sanitation district recently bought it for 41 million dollars (after being quoted to the residents of the area for 91 million) and is being held in escrow because of the court battle.

This fight has been and still is about more then simple environmentalism, (though we DO have the cleanest air in the continental United States. Potentially about to be flooded with an extra 5000 tons of air pollution per year) this is about the people of the Mojave Desert being Shat on by a major corporation and politicians who stand to make literally billions of dollars from putting their trash a stones thrown away from our National Park.

Now that I’ve got the ball rolling here I imagine you’re saying, "sure it’s all fine and dandy but there is nothing I can do about it". The good news is, this battle has been fought for almost 20 years and we haven’t lost it yet. Though another round of appeals looms ahead, the people of the desert community are standing together again to fight.

We invite you to come and take part in a fundraiser for this cause, April 18th and 19th at Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace from 4pm to 10pm. We will be playing there on Friday the 18th to show our support. We have also negotiated a deal for the Friday show to reduce its admission price for our fans under the age of 21.

Over 21 will be $25 tickets $35 for both days

Under 21 will be $10 w/ ID

The ticket price is high we know; however this is truly for a good cause. I hope to see all of our fans there for a kick ass show!

You can visit the website for this event here.

A big thanks to the folks at Angels Roadhouse for having us out yesterday.
We had a whole lot of fun. Looks like we may be back there soon, so let's pack the place this time eh?

Hey everyone,
Well someone (I won't point out who, we'll just say he's really tall blond and has NO sense of style) Pointed out to me that I hadn't updated this blog in forever so here goes.

Well here we are. October already, and to our dismay... No record as yet. I'm not going to shine you on with more talk of when it will be out for sure. We'll just say that the record has been out of our hands since late February and for one reason or another hasn't managed to be mixed or mastered. I was told last week that Januarys the big month so hopefully then we can put this marathon record into everyones hands. All I can say is that if it were up to me the record would have been done (many times over) already, and all we can do now is wait.
That having been said, it kicks ass. It's worth the wait I promise. Those of you who came out and saw us last weekend at Coyote Fest may have been lucky enough to score a copy of our promo CD which includes 3 tracks off the album. If you liked it, tell us what you think. We love getting feedback.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support us and we hope to see even more of you at our next show.
Stay tuned for bullitins about shows coming up.

Much love,
Ben

Hello friends,
Just checking in. Amazingly we're still pluging away at the album. We are very happy with it and are very excited to let everyone hear it. Obviously it's not done yet and if you have been keeping track of these posts, it's pretty obvious that we have overshot many deadlines that we set for ourselves. Ultimately we decided to spend the extra time making sure that the record was as good as it could possibly be rather then spending time worrying about when it would be done.

We are nearly ready to start giging again which is very exciting. Expect to see us around towards the end of January. Thanks for standing by us!

Hey Everyone,
Well thank you to anyone who came to see us in Joshua Tree yesterday. We had so much fun getting on stage again. Many thanks to our fill in drummer Roland as well! We had a little bit of a rough start, but we are so grateful for the reception we got.
Once again thanks, and we hope to see you guys in Bakersfield next sunday!
