...please note that it is NOT free, as we originally thought and had posted. It is only free to members of the Frederick Meijer Gardens, otherwise admission is $12, or $9 with a student ID. Sorry for the confusion, and thanks to Liz for pointing that out!

If you watch MTV Subterranean late at night on Thursday, 6/26 (technically Friday I think) you will see the on-air premier of "Safe for the Time Being." In the meantime you can watch it smaller RIGHT HERE.

We filmed this last summer in an unbelievably hot warehouse with our friends Hott Garbage and many extras who were also quite hot by the end and it was so hot that the film melted and it took nearly a year to restore to it's original glory but here it finally is and you can check it out at this link: SAFE @ MY OLD KENTUCKY BLOGand not only that but you can also download a couple of free songs from Olly Oxen Free from the same place. Let us know what you think!

Hello all.
As of today Matt will no longer be performing live with Mason Proper as Matt will no longer be living in the United States.
He is moving to France for a while. Which makes it very hard to practice.
So. If one happens to be at a show, happens to look yonder stage left, finds an impenetrable vacuum…know that Matt is very much alive and well. Probably making goat cheese somewhere in the foothills of the Alps.
Like many of Matt’s disappearing acts, this one will not be permanent (probably).
All those interested in a free sample of Matt’s goat cheese can send a SASE to:
Keys and Cheese ltd. 1 Rue de France Southern France, France 12121
Be well. Until next time.
Matt
(To be serious, which is rare, I am truly grateful to have met and made smile the many many fine folks who have supported our music over the years. Know that you have made me a very happy man. Thank you. Thank you. And thank you.)

we had a mad time at sxsw this year.
WARNING: thank you overload to follow.
big big big thanks to every single person who came out to the shows (especially those from michigan[!]) and made us feel like we are spending our lives doing worthwhile things.
still more thanks to hot freaks, pirate, tangled snark, and homeslice pizza for having us at their stellar parties, and texas music cafe for the fun time in waco.
special thanks to darryl, luis, elizabeth, and everyone else who planted themselves prominently in the front of the shows and sang along.
sorry to anybody who came out to the parlor saturday night to see us (because we ended up not being able to do it)... we had to cancel a few hours before for reasons beyond our control, and had no way to get the word out to you.
thanks to everyone at dovecote, and carter in particular, for making it all possible.
thanks to shivvy and heggie for the brain warpage.
thanks to wefuse for the fantastic food and personality that brought us back again and again.
thanks to shannon and my lucky stars for creating a scenario in which i met one of my favorite musicians of all time and made him laugh.
thanks to tim williams, ed harcourt, everthus the deadbeats, via audio, health, the dirty projectors, graham coxon, monotonix, jason lytle, maps and atlases, and a million more that i just can't think of right now for the amazing shows.
thanks to everyone i can't think of right now.
thx to the skies for raining down nothing but beautiful sunshine.
thx 4 the free taco.
hope all is well.

i compiled all the legit free mason proper stuff i could find, for those of you who have joined us halfway through. not to say we are necessarily halfway through, please don't calculate the day of our demise. that is not socially acceptable to do. i'm trying megaupload for this because i don't have enough bandwidth to host it. probably not very pro of me, haha, but i'm doing this as a gift. this isn't very official. we just like to give you stuff, and want to make sure you haven't missed any of it. THE FREE MASON PROPER COLLECTION v.1 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BEM3EIDQgo there, wait for the timer to count down, then click normal download. you do NOT have to sign up with them to get it. let us know if the link goes down or something, i've never used that site before, so i'm not sure quite how it works. this contains: -Pangram Songs Part I and II -Cover of Pink Floyd's "Bike" -Cover of "Love Lockdown" by Kanye West mashed up with LCD Soundsystem -"Life's Cornucopia" from Moth -"Lock and Key" and "Fog" from Olly Oxen Free -"Friendship" from Shorthand EP -the infamous Kroodsma interview -a page full of select embedded videos -"Fish Eyes" from Bug Lung Baby's North South Pt. I -Links to select live sessions with unreleased songs, and some other stuff

Read part of the article, see the [strange] video. Ann Arbor's premier oddball interest group magazine "The Gargoyle" took us bowling. They shot video and jotted down notes. See above for details.

NUMBER ONE: Download Free Live Session from Hear YaWe know, we know. We never, or rarely, come to your town. Teleportation technology just hasn't arrived yet, so all you inventors, get inventing. That or you need to move to Michigan (It's 73 degrees here 364 days a year, and jobs on average pay 300% more!!!). But you can at least blare this out your built-in laptop speakers and stand next to someone stinky and it's largely the same as being at a Mason Proper show, right? No? Well, at least these are some great-sounding live-in-the-studio recordings as a concession prize to our long-distance relationship with you. NUMBER TWO: Here is the Kanye West/LCD Soundsystem mashed-up fully-loaded potato cover "Love Lockdown Gets Innocuous" we did for Coke Machine Glow available for download on it's own in full-quality. DOWNLOAD ITNUMBER THREE: Come to our show on Friday in Ann Arbor at the Blind Pig with Javelins and the Mighty Narwhale. NUMBER FOUR: If you happen to have learned of us only today by any widely-read music websites that could have randomly posted something about us (I assure you I have no knowledge of there having been such an incident), I recommend visiting THIS POST at My Old Kentucky Blog so that you can listen to the entire album for free and reconcile what you have read with what you are hearing.
