This Saturday, November 28, 2009 walk up the stairs of the Loft in red royal darkness as the decor creativity of Michael McElhaney aka Michael Azure and myself, Nocturna will transform the LOFT into an evening of decadence and dance.

Also Digital Studio Works will be there to shoot in the dark your portrait with your date or if you have 2 or 3 disembodied spirits in your arms or take a picture with your real friends...or Alone, as Edgar Allan Poe did.

Along with music and dancing provided by Nocturna, Modboy and Shadowfaxxx, this is the prom you never had. For this evening of promenade at the Loft, adorned in black and crimson colors, dark corsages and boutonnières, the prom committee, which consist of the oracles and others beyond the grave, have selected these couples and only one couple will take the title as Bat King and Bat Queen.

This will be determined by votes, secret ballots, from the guests and spectators who come to the Goth Prom. They must be present at the event, living and breathing to vote. There are 3 choices..who will wear the royal goth crowns and scepters:

Tymm and Stacy
Kanoa and Lisa
Kawika and Lee Ann

Criteria and selections should be based on the darkest, most appealing couple in appearance, attire and aura in the darkest sense of the word. Oracles and the dead will not be allowed to vote during the event.

Like the traditional high school prom, the Goth Bat King and Queen will take the first dance, dancing to BREATHE, by the Cure, (B-Side of Catch) and other theme songs, provided by Nocturna, as channeled by the Oracles

Come dress any way you like...you don't have to dress in prom attire, only if you want to.

Also Summer’s Birthday ! Come and celebrate the passionate dancer's birthday from Giinko Marischino and the gang.

Come one, come two or come with a clan ! Break the tradition ! You need not come with a date unless you choose to…and you may come with the same gender if that happens to be your preference.

Come and dance away from the traditional prom and dance to the music you love, away from the mainstream,… the prom you never had !

The recording artist and songwriter who has released several albums and best known for his witty satirical lyrics and chilling gypsy violins and Celtic rhythms, Voltaire will be making his first stage appearance in Honolulu on Friday, July 17 at NEXT DOOR (43 North Hotel Street) for CAMERA OBSCURA’S second annual theme party “PIRATES AHOY.” ....

Voltaire, whose music is deeply rooted in European folk music, speaks of love and most often, the loss thereof with the added twist of how best to seek revenge on the ones who have hurt you.  He explores and reveals those moments of vulnerability most would rather not discuss and exploits with childish abandon those fleeting streaks of cruelty we all feel but choose not to act upon or even mention.....

The multi-talented Voltaire is not only a musician, but a director/animator specializing in stop-motion animation. Inspired by the films of Ray Harryhausen (Jason and the Argonauts, the 7^th Voyage of Sinbad), Voltaire began animating at the age of ten. Eventually piercing together snippets of information from fanzine, he was able to teach himself how to make foam rubber animation models and animate them with fluidity and realism. The films of his childhood landed him his first directing job in 1988. That project was the classic MTV ID called “MTV-BOSCH.” The stop-motion tour of the Hellish “Garden of Earthly Delights” went on to win several awards including a broadcast design award and helped to establish Voltaire’s style of animation. ....

For Goth’s sake, he released books “What is Goth?” and “Paint it Black,” a Guide to gothic homemaking, among others. His gothic darkness, baroque lushness and whimsical surrealism have been seen in a score of television commercials for clients such as cartoon network, USA and the SCI-FI channel. ....

Voltaire’s talents doesn’t end here. In March 2004, Voltaire started talks with a Hong Kong based company called “TOY2R” and plans were made to design a keychain figure of DEADY from his DEADY Comic series. In July, the official DEADY 2-inch Qee made its first appearance at the San Diego Comic Con. Voltaire and TOY2R have been working on putting out toys together since. ....

Voltaire’s visual quality of his performances is not surprising. His live shows, whether solo or with his skeletal orchestra are highly theatrical- full of props and stories. ....

 ....

Voltaire continues writing, recording and performing music, while working on occasional comic books and designing toys. After ten years of releasing CDs through Projekt Records, his latest album is his first self-released studio album. “To the Bottom of the Sea” which tells the tales of piracy, sea monsters, peasants uprising with a gypsy tinker and his tumultuous journey “from the mountains of Vorutania” to the “bottom of the sea.”
