I put this as a bulletin but I'm duplicating the information here.
I will be headlining and hosting a cabaret fundraiser on September 6, to benefit Polycystic Kidney Disease research. This genetic disease affects members of my family, and several talented friends will be on hand to sing their hearts out. And yes, I'm finally getting back on stage as well.
The cabaret will be held at the Players Club of Swarthmore, on Fairview Road & Route 320, at 7pm. Tickets are $15 and reservations can be made at pkdcabaret@zmulls.com.
For more information, or to make a donation, please contact me through MySpace, or through my website (zmulls. com).

The Song of the Year June 2008results have been announced. " Punch My Ticket" was a finalist in the Rock category (meaning it was one of the top five submissions). Congrats to Ray Sharp, my co-writer (and I'll get them to list his name as well). Congrats also to Rick Denzien, a local writer I've been working with, for his Finalist status in Country!

I haven't been blogging here much, as I have a real live blog up. But I just found out that the two songs I entered in the May 2008 Song of the Year Contest have both been named runners-up. This means they didn't rank highly enough in their respective categories to be the winner of one of the four finalists, but the judges scored them highly enough to merit a mention of achievement. Congrats to Anthony J. Spinella (co-writer for "Out in the Cold") and Ron Tintner ( "Vinyl")

My main website, zmulls.com, has finally had a full face-lift. There's a sexy new look, new photos taken around Philadelphia, and even a songwriting blog. Much of the content is the same -- though there are some new songs (over 25 in all, including three I wrote music *and* lyrics for), and there are over 75 lyrics. Have a peek -- the designer I engaged did a fabulous job in keeping the site simple but elegant and nice to look at.

Well, for the first time since I put this site up, I've totally changed the four songs showing. Enough people have heard "Atlantic City" by now (though you can still hear it on my Soundclick and at zmulls.com), so I removed it in favor of a new song, "Vinyl" by Ron Tintner.
The Kazakhstan funkrock tune "I'm Not Your Friend" (by Eduard Glumov) is still up, as is the jazz fusion tune "El Dorado" (Bobby Watson), and the heavy metal "Punch My Ticket" (Ray Sharp). Fun to be all over the map this way...

I've been waiting a long time for this song to be done, having heard a sensational demo earlier this year. The young gentleman who composed the music, and is playing and singing, is still in high school, though you wouldn't know it to listen. I was trying to write a "Billy Joel" lyric, and I think I nailed it (my wife did say it could be sung to "Piano Man" but I forgave her). Jordan is a big Billy Joel fan and he did amazing things with the words.

For those who haven't seen it, ZMULLS.COM is up and running. It contains *all* my lyrics, the good, the bad and the ugly. I've copyrighted them, a probably unnecessary step, but I sleep better. I have not posted my songs from the 11-song cabaret I wrote, as I'm keeping that safe for now, nor have I posted the magnum opus I wrote a few years back. All that's up on the website are the standalone one-offs, over 70 of them. Maybe now that the website's up I'll start writing a little more frequently...
