Hey, everyone! This is our fall/ autumn 2008 blog. It's very awesome indeed. Read and enjoy!

1. Interview for Teen Trax:     Saturday, September 20

On Saturday, September 20th, we went to Caribou Coffee in Baxter for an
11:00 A.M. interview for the Mid-Minnesota Teen Trax Magazine. The person who interviewed us was Enid Swaggert, who goes to Brainerd High School. She spent about an hour interviewing us about various topics, such as how we started as a band, how each of our individual interests were started, our favorite songs, any C.D.s we had made, and places we had played at. It was an excellent interview! After it was done, Jeff, Sarah, and I hung out for a few hours.

2. Interview for the Brainerd High School Fifth Street Journal:     Tuesday, October 7 and Friday, October 10

Within 3 weeks of our first full formal interview as a band, we had our second! On Tuesday, October 7th, we arrived at the Brainerd High School Library at
7:45 A.M. for our interview for Brainerd High School's Fifth Street Journal. The person who interviewed us was Ross Koehnen, who goes to Brainerd High School. We had a brief, but elaborate 30-minute interview. It was another great interview! On the Friday of that same week, at 9:00 A.M., we had our picture taken by Ross Koehnen for the article in the halls of Brainerd High School.

3.
Crosby Family Fall Event 2008:     Saturday, October 25

          The
Crosby Family Fall Event 2008 was totally awesome! The turnout was larger than it was in 2007 for this event. The event took place at the Crosby-Ironton Elementary School Auditorium from 1:30 P.M. until 4:00 in the afternoon.
We arrived at the school shortly after
noon to set up. After getting prepared, we started. We played "I Refuse" to start the event. Following that, we played "Work Clock", and then "Plastic People", which is one of our brand new songs. Then, after that, we played "Welcome", and "Blitzkrieg Bop" by the Ramones. The, we played "Rock all Night" and "Boredom". Then we played the acoustic songs "Act Real" and "Doesn't Matter". After a brief break, we played "Naked", and then 7 more songs, one of which was brand new. After another break, we played our acoustic song "Aware". Then, we played "0 to 60", and "All the Small Things" by Blink 182. Then, we played our brand new song "Famous". After playing "Preps", we played our brand new song "Nite Bite". Then, we played "Roller Coaster" and "Invisible to You". After that, we played a few songs at the request of the audience.
The sound was much better than it was in 2007, and the levels did not alter or change at all. The levels were smooth and consistent.
This was a great performance. Still, we were invited to play and be an accompaniment to this Halloween Event that the school hosts every year. We got great recognition nonetheless. We got a hefty sum for this performance.
Thanks to Brenda, the Mozey family, Alex Heldt, Katie Embertson, Joe Anderson, and many others for your support and attendance. This was a fun event because of all of you! Thanks to the school for letting us play, and thanks again to Brenda for carving for us a pumpkin!

4. Downtown Brainerd Acoustic Show:     Saturday, November 22

On Saturday, November 22nd, just 4 weeks after our show in
Crosby, we played an Acoustic Show at the Coco Moon! It was spectacular, as we have never done an acoustic show together as a full band. The show started at 6:00 P.M., and finished one hour later.
          At
5:30 P.M., we arrived to set up. Getting our stuff ready to go for this show was not too difficult. At 6:00 P.M., we were ready to play. For our setup, Jeff played acoustic guitar and sang, and Sarah sang as well. I had a bass drum/ snare drum/ egg shaker setup for some subtle, but vital accompanying percussion. Jeff and Sarah each sat on a stool and many people there gathered in close proximity to us. We started off with "Bring me Down". Then, we played a well-known acoustic song of ours, "Act Real". Then, we played the upbeat acoustic tune "Doesn't Matter". Then, we played our song "Nite Bite" in an acoustic derivation. Then, we played a newer acoustic song, called "Wasting Time". Then, we played "Moving Across the U.S.A.". After that, we played "Falling Suicide" and "Aware". All of that was planned, and we decided to take a few requests after that.
The acoustic show was great! The turnout was exceptional, and although the sum of money was quite small, it was nice considering the brevity of our set, and we play because we love our music, not because we want to become millionaires or anything, although that would be nice.
Just as our Crosby Fall Event preceded Halloween, this event happened to be 5 days before Thanksgiving. It wasn't planned that way, but that is how it turned out.
Our acknowledgments go out to everyone who came on this cold November night in
Minnesota, along with Alex Heldt, Katie Embertson, Lori at the Coco Moon for letting us play, and our families once again.

5. 3rd Annual Christmas Concert:     Friday, December 12

This show was our 3rd Annual Christmas Rock Show at the Upper Room. It started at
8:00 P.M., and it finished around 11:00 P.M. when all was said and done. The artists who performed with us this year were "Lovely Nightmare" and "For What It's Worth".
All members of all of the artists were there at
7:00 P.M. to start setting up. Then, after all was set up, the show started at 8:00 P.M. sharp. Shawn Rohde, the manager at the Upper Room, opened up the show, and then, we were under way! For What It's Worth performed first, and for a very new band debuting in a concert, they did an excellent job on their 4 songs. Lovely Nightmare, who happens to be my brother (Alex Continenza) performed next, and after 2 songs, his C.D. mix of beats started skipping, so, unfortunately, he had to stop performing because of the technical problems. Then, we played. We started with the Christmas tune "Frosty the Snowman". Then, after 6 of our original songs, we played the Christmas tune "Sleigh Ride". The, we played "Naked" and "More". Following that, we played 8 more of our original sings. Our penultimate song was the Christmas hit "Santa Claus is coming to Town", and then we played our song "Invisible to You". It was sweet. After that, Alex performed a few songs as the technical problems were fixed. After 5 songs or so, we went back up for an encore of about 4 or 5 songs. It was fun!
We greatly enjoyed this show! Every aspect of it was fun! The Upper Room had a potentially disastrous situation in October and early November that we were worried about. A sewage line broke at the venue, and parts of the venue were flooded for about a month and a half. Fortunately, Shawn and the rest of the staff got the situation fixed up before December. Thus, we were still able to have this show.
It was great to rock out. What is more, it was great to have both "For What It's Worth" and "Lovely Nightmare" to perform with us. It's always great to have good opening artists who play quality music.
We have many people to thank for this show. They include "For What It's Worth", "Lovely Nightmare", Dominik Cronan, Alex Heldt, Katie Embertson, our families, and Shawn Rohde (many, many kudos for fixing the sewage backup in time for December 12th). Thanks to all of you who came! The turnout was simply phenomenal, and we thank all of you for coming on this cold December night in
Minnesota for our 3rd Annual Christmas Rock Show!

6. Miscellaneous News and Acknowledgements:

Our two aforementioned interviews now have articles posted in the press! Our second of these two interviews actually had its corresponding article published first, as the second Issue of the twentieth Volume came out for the
B.H.S. Fifth Street Journal. Just recently, our article came out for Teen Trax Magazine's winter 2008 Edition. They are both great, and they are both posted on our profile under our pictures under "The Press". Also, we are excited for next year! We might have a good-quality demo recorded, and we are likely to perform at The Medium, Brainerd's new Eclectic, Lar Fest 2009, the 2009 Brainerd High School Talent Show, Brainerd's 2009 Battle of the Bands, and much more! Thanks to everyone who has supported us, especially over the last few months!

That is it for our fall/ autumn 2008 blog! Stay tuned on our page for more updates!

Hey, everyone! How's it going? This blog talks about our summer 2008 experience. We played at 4 great venues, and had some great days enjoying the beautiful months of June, July, and August. We hope that you enjoy this blog!

1. Summer Show at the Upper Room:     Friday, June 6

We played at the Upper Room with the band Tune Up Special in a nice double-header type concert. For those who showed up, you probably remember the lowdown, but I will tell about what happened anyway.
We started off the show with our song "Rock all Night" and shot straight into "Boredom". We used these songs to rally the crowd and to reconfigure some sound settings. After that, we played one of our newest songs, "More". Then, we played these songs after that in this order- "Attention for Affection", "Welcome", "All Right", "Invisible to You", "Preps", "Confined" (one of our newest songs and our heaviest song),  "Roller Coaster", "Naked", "Geek Overload", "Work Clock", "Little Girl", and "Wake Up World". At the request of another song, we played "Naked" again. It was a kind of "feel it" performance from my perspective, but it ran through O.K., I guess.
After we played, Tune Up Special went up and did their thing. They are a great young punk/ ska band that features members from the former band "Corner Pocket" (a.k.a. Lovers and Madmen). I didn't keep track of how long they played, but I am guessing that they played about 8 songs or so. It was a good time.
Just as an F.Y.I., the Upper Room now has a dart board and a new pool table, along with all of their other great entertainment.
I thought that the concert was a good foretaste for our band of how the 2008
Battle of the Bands was going to be. I would like to say thank you to Shawn Rohde, the manager of the Upper Room for letting us play and for being a very communicable person. I would also like to thank all of the fans who came to watch us, because at many times, you guys rejuvenate us to play better and better. Thanks for the support! Also, I would thank Lewis Bell for helping out and for being an awesome friend to the band as a whole and to us individually. Thanks also goes from us to Alex Heldt for being such a great fan and roadie, and over just a month or two, I believe, we have found ourselves with a roadie who I really appreciate. Thanks also to Katie Embertson for tagging along with Alex and coming to our shows. Thanks also to those who weren't mentioned because of involuntary omission. It was a great time!

2. Eclectic Café Last Day Bash:     Sunday, June 29

We played at the Eclectic Café with about ten to a dozen or so artists besides ourselves in an open mic performance. I will give the lowdown of the day.
For those who don't know, the Eclectic Café had their last day ever during this Bash. They have now closed after ten years. Many people in Brainerd are going to miss that place, and I am sure of it. Anyway, the Bash was scheduled to start at
12:00 P.M. but, for some reason, they decided on the day itself to wait until 5:00 P.M. to start the music. Anyway, we were one of the first bands there (if not the first band there), and we got the first time slot. Each band or artist was only allotted four to six songs or so because many bands showed up, and they would only be playing until about midnight. After a long duration of setup, we were finally ready to play. Initially, there was only one functional mic and stand, but we were able to find another one, so thankfully, both Jeff and Sarah could sing. My drum set was set up in the back corner of the stage in front of the large curtains. We started off the Bash with our song "Welcome". After that, we winged it and randomly, but shrewdly picked five more songs. We played "Naked" as our second song, and we followed that up with "Little Girl". Then, we played "All Right". After that, we played a brand new song of ours called "I Refuse". To finish off, we played "More", and collectively ended our great memories at the Eclectic Café with two thumbs up!
After we played, several great performances followed from bands like TherJoy, Masons Echo, Shallos, and about half a dozen more! A friend of mine, Eric Olson, needed a drummer for the day, so I winged it and played with him for 5 or 6 songs or so. That was fun! The groups played very well!
The day went all right. We had our worries as were setting up because there was initially only 1 mic, and we do not know everything about soundboards that might not be our own, but our songs were solid. The balance was quite questionable at times, but I think that the aggregate performance was fairly solid. I am also basically 100% certain that this was our first Sunday performance ever. I would like to thank Matt Taylor (who I gave a signature broken drum head to) and the rest of his staff at the Eclectic Café for letting us play and giving us some awesome final memories, the other bands that played for keeping a lively, yet exciting setting in the Eclectic Café, Alex Heldt for his ever-increasing knowledge and compatibility as a roadie, Katie Embertson for sticking around and having an awesome time with us, our fans for pushing us to play better so that we can put on a good show for everybody, and to everyone else not mentioned as well! As a group and as a band, we are going to miss a great venue to play at in Brainerd.

3. Brainerd Battle of the Bands 2008- "Mirage":     Wednesday, July 2

Brainerd's Battle of the Bands 2008, titled "Mirage" and sponsored by Youth as Resources, was a fun event! Our band got the 9:00 P.M. time slot, which was the penultimate time bloc for the artists in the competition.
We played a set that consisted of the songs "Welcome", "Invisible to You", "Little Girl", "I Refuse", "Rock all Night", "Naked", and "Wake up World" in that order. It was a sweet set, but the only new song in it was "I Refuse". The crowd really got into it there. However, after all the artists had performed, we found out that we were not picked as one of the top three bands.
That news stung pretty badly, as we had won third place in 2007. In spite of the disappointment, it was a worthwhile performance. We did win $50.00 in a drawing because we signed up as the second-earliest artist, losing to only "Ampson Twelve" in that respect.
One thing that we were disappointed about was that the Y.A.R. staff won't show the full results, like they have done in previous years. We don't understand why, but it is something that we have to cope with.
Don't get me wrong- this was still a good performance. I would like to give personal thanks to the people in charge of the event, the judges, the fans who came out to hear us, the Mozey family for coming to see us, including Dave's parents, and Jeff and Sarah for rocking out once again.

4. Crosby Music in the Park:     Thursday, July 24

We had a fun experience in Crosby on Thursday, July 24th, 2008. We played on this day for the "Music in the Park" series that took place throughout all of the summer. The event was held at Crosby's main park, which is Serpent Lake Park. We had over an hour to play, and we made sure that we had a lot of songs ready to go.
After the Cuyuna Range Community Band played, we were up. We started around
7:30 P.M. and played for over an hour. We played about 20 songs. It was a fun time! People of all ages were there to listen to us. Some even had brought their little kids there!
This was a really good show from my perspective. Playing outdoors made this show fun, and people of all ages stuck around to listen to us.
The man in charge of sound there, John Pribyl, did an excellent job. In fact, I would personally say that he had done a greater job with sound than anyone that we had worked with prior to this point. I guess that he also has a recording studio in northern
Minnesota, and he said that we could possibly record a high-quality demo with him there sometime. This was also a paid show, and we got a hefty sum.
I would like to say thanks to Katie Embertson, Alex Heldt for becoming an ever-increasingly better roadie, the people there, the Mozeys, and John Pribyl for his irrefutable job with sound. This was a great performance musically, and we really enjoyed this summer evening!

5. Hanging out and traveling integrated together:

As a band, we spent time in the summer just hanging out. We went to each others' houses during the time (mostly to mine, however, because that is where we practice 98% of the time), but it is always good as a band to get to spend time together outside of music. On Monday, June 30th, just one day after the Eclectic Café Last Day Bash, and 2 days before Brainerd's 2008 Battle of the Bands, we hung out at my house. We practiced our music, skated, played games, and ate hot dogs. It was a fun get-together. Also, we had all done a lot of traveling during the course of the summer. I went to Guatemala, El Salvador, and Charlotte, North Carolina during the summer. Jeff and Sarah went with their family to Washington State to visit some of their relatives form their old home. It was a summer of travel, but hangouts, too!

6. Ackonwledgements:

I would like to take this time to thank some people. I would like to thank Shawn Rohde, manager of The Upper Room, Matt Taylor, manager of the former Eclectic Café, John Pribyl, Lewis Bell, Alex Heldt, Katie Embertson, our fans, the Mozey family, and my family. All of you, plus all others not mentioned, thanks for all of the support!

That is our summer 2008 blog. We hope that you enjoyed it. Stay tuned to our MySpace page for more updates. Thanks for taking time to view this blog!

This is our band's general information. Although Jeff does the main work with our band's profile page, we have collectively decided as a band to start adding blogs to our page. I am sure that they will spice it up. We have also decided that I would create the blogs, since I love going into great detail on writing and typing about events. Most of our blogs will be post-performance reviews. Anyway, thanks for checking this information out. Our band appreciates it.
