Current mood:pretty fucking psyched, actually.
Over an albums worth of recordings are in the works for a new band between Aaron Turner, Tim Wyskida, and myself...Tracking has just been completed and mixes are almost finished. More info soon as things are wrapped up - I'll post a sample on the plotkinworks site, but for now...think of the streched out, tempo-less nature of Khanate but of a much more "relaxed", "ambient" or even "tonal" focus. Don't expect METAL, expect music that doesn't adhere to any genre whatsoever. I wouldn't have it any other way...

Please do not send me messages akin to "what, I'm not fucking cool enough for you?" etc. It takes time for me to go through all the requests and I don't add friends until I check the page out...not collecting points here.

I'm honoured that someone would be offended by my neglect, but it's not that you aren't cool enough, it's merely a matter of time restraints. Thanks for being cool enough to understand that.

Regards,
James

ArchiveDVD

Pictures and ordering info...
Friday, July 13, 2007
Slimm posted a few production pics of the 1st 2 ArchiveDVD releases. Looks like the label will launch early next month - psyched beyond belief to be releasing the first ever Kousokuya video. Watch it and you'll be psyched too.

Also, some production pics of the special acetate/photo versions of the Khanate live Archive reissues. There will be 15 Stockholm and 30 Birds discs in this format, each one of a kind. Many thanks to Slimm for helping me put these together.....

ARCHIVE DVD is the new imprint of Scott Slimm's cult label ARCHIVE CD. Together we will be releasing limited run self-produced DVDs of artists we consider important to modern music. A preliminary page has been set up at the plotkinworks site:

ARCHIVE DVD

Upon release, these DVDs will be available for mailorder though the ARCHIVE CD webshop, as well as a few retail outlets. The first two releases should be available within a few months. More info to follow, thanks for looking.

Current mood:crushed and ultimately depressed
Legendary Japanese master of the blackened-psych JUTOK KANEKO passed away this morning from various health issues. Kaneko was most infamous for his group KOUSOKUYA, a band so elusive that only one studio recording was made in the 28 years of their existence. Kousokuya belonged to, but also transcended the Japanese scene of dark and distorted Psychedelic rock, and along with Keiji Haino's FUSHITSUSHA and Narita's HIGH RISE, Kaneko practically helped invent the movement while constantly pushing the boundaries of it's core. His undeniably unique, tortured sound will be missed.

At the time of his death, FORENSIC DVD has been preparing a CD/DVD release of Kousokuya's Osaka performance from 9/21/01. It is an essential glimpse into the world of bleakness the group summoned during their live performances.

If you've seen this film and you didn't love it, you should die. Just as amazing as I STAND ALONE. The one thing the french do better than anything else is produce the most fucked up, disturbing films. EDIT: The film is Belgian - I thought the filmmaker was French but what the fuck do I know? I know a great, groundbreaking film when I see one.
