As far as I'm concerned, health has to be Number One.

It's the foundation of everything else the Spartan Health Regime program is based on. And it should be the foundation your own diet and training is based on.

If health wasn't a concern I could spend all my time talking about the best steroids and drugs to take to improve your physiques and performance. Without real health you have athletes who turn into slobs at 30. You get young guys who pump themselves full of chemicals to add some temporary muscle and you get "skinny" people who die from cancer or heart disease.

Now, a lot of you think health is all about living longer or not getting some disease later in life right? WRONG! Of course that's a part of it, but here's the best part, which so few understand.

Building your health to peak levels will allow your body to function at it's maximum potential.

Your immune system will be become a vicious T-Rex to invading germs and will keep you free from sickness. How many of you know serious athletes who are constantly suffering from a flu or cold? I know a heap. That's because a lot of them make the mistake of thinking a fit body and a lot of training equals real health. Wrong again.

One of the first things new Spartans write in to tell me (apart from losing bodyfat quick) is how all their friends and co-workers are getting sick while they stay unaffected.

Another benefit of a real healthy body is recovering quickly and more easily from training. Harder training equals faster results. Being able to train more equals faster results. You'll get stronger, leaner and better conditioned faster. Not to mention your training won't run you down or leave you always feeling wasted after a workout.

So how do you achieve a higher level of health? Is it all about chemicals in the air, toxins in products, indoor lighting, polluted water or doing certain exercises?

All that stuff can affect health and addressing them may make a difference to you. But the BIGGEST, FASTEST improvement to your
health will come with DIET! It's that simple. Nothing affects you more than what you put into your body each day.

Changing your diet to the one I teach in the Spartan program or a similar one will dramatically boost your health. Because it's designed to be close to the diet we were intended to eat by nature.

Unlike other diets which brag they are full of the latest scientific research and breakthrough discoveries (which seem to change every day or week) . . . I went the other way. I found diet principles that were proved to work for thousands of years!

From our primate relatives to cavemen to different tribal warriors to the ancient Greeks and Spartans.

What I discovered was the strongest and healthiest of these groups had a diet that contained on average 4 times the mineral content of our modern diet. And up to 10 times the amount of some other nutrients. Are you starting to see a problem here. You can't fix this by taking pills and supplements. Our whole modern way of eating has to be reworked and modified.

The Spartan Health Regime diet is a diet rich in mineral density and the correct nutrients needed for your body to grow, recover and function in perfect health. It follows the forgotten laws of nature and takes into account the wisdom of thousands of generations of our ancestors.

That's the path you should be searching on to discover the best diet for you.

While it's great to have a Spartan Body, that is, building a lean, muscular body you can be proud of. But looking good is just  the start. You want to have a heap of Real World functional strength, fitness and conditioning as well. You want to increase your performance levels.

No matter whether you participate in a sport or not you should train for a body with a lot of strength, power, speed, stamina, endurance, general fitness and conditioning. A body that functions perfectly and effortlessly to the best of it's ability.

The modern Spartan Warrior is an athlete!

Let me give you an example of what I'm talking about. I'm no Olympic Athlete or Worlds Strongest Man by any means, but about three weekends ago (at the time of this writing) at a friends place I did the following two things, which totally blew him away.

Firstly, I picked him up and pressed him over my head about half-a-dozen times, which is a great party trick. Thinking I was all strength and no fitness he challenged me to a run the next morning for revenge. Poor guy. We ran for 8 miles and I not only beat him
but I was in great shape at the end while he looked like he was ready to have a heart attack!

How could I do this? Obviously I have a huge advantage because of the "Spartan Health Regime" diet I follow but the main reason was because I train for functional strength and conditioning.

That is, strength and fitness that is useful in the Real World.

While I'm on a roll I have to give you another example of the benefit to this kind of training. I was in a terrible emergency situation a while ago where I had to get someone to the hospital
in a rush. It's the kind of time you are glad to have build useful strength because I basically lifted them bodily and carried them all the way.

I didn't always have useful strength.

Before I discovered how to build real strength I was right into the whole bodybuilding training thing. I would buy every book and magazine on the market and kill myself training with the latest
breakthrough routine.

It really did very little for me except end up injuring just about every joint in my body. There is nothing more frustrating that training like an animal for so long for so little results.

It wasn't until I found some rare books on the old time strong men and strength athletes that I started on the right path. Add that to studying the athletes of ancient Greece and some very unconventional ideas from the present and I was soon gaining strength like never before. Even while training at home.

Here's the funny part. And I really hope this helps you guys and gals who are reading this eReport.

I never really put on much muscle until I started training for real strength.

I know that goes against everything you get taught about bodybuilding and weight training. But believe me it works. I've trained a lot of people since in the same way and they all make the best strength and muscle gains of their lives.

I'm not talking about the bloated, pumped-up, weak-as-water, over-inflated type muscle so many steroid users build. I'm talking about dense, thick, powerful and totally functional muscle. I always keep the image of the ancient Spartans in my mind. They were Warriors. And warriors need strength and muscle that is useable.

Same goes with fitness and conditioning. How pathetic is it to be muscular without the fitness to back it up. All show and no go. Those kind of guys can't last more than a few seconds in a real fight before collapsing from exhaustion. Or even run a few blocks.

There was a contest once between two famous bodybuilders to see which one could sprint the fastest. Guess what happened? They raced but neither of them got to the finish line. They both pulled up with hamstring injuries because they had no real world conditioning or functional strength. Now that's sad!

So do yourself a favor and train for Real World strength and conditioning. Not only will you be fit and strong but I bet you end up leaner and more muscular anyway!!!

Being tough mentally is what being a Spartan is all about.

Self-discipline, courage, iron-will, commitment, a strong mind, dedication, heart etc. All these values are grouped under the term Mental Toughness.

I believe in the old Greek saying, A strong mind in a strong body. Or my own slight variation; A tough mind in a tough body.

Creating a healthy, strong body that is very well physically conditioned is the aim. But without mental strength, without developing your own discipline and iron-will, you can only ever be half a Warrior.

Why?

Because you can have all the knowledge in the world but it won't do you any good if you don't make use of it.

It's no good knowing the right way to eat if you can't resist the constant temptations in our junk food society. It's no good being taught the best training methods on the planet if you don't have the motivation to actually do the training.

That's why in my program, the Spartan Health Regime, and in all my writing I always cover the topic of mental toughness. Staying motivated and on the right path is half the battle to keep you from slipping back into old habits and an average life.

And I believe mental toughness can be trained just like training your physical body. You don't have to be born with these qualities, you can develop them.

How can you start to train your own mind for mental toughness?

The first thing you need to do is basically become aware that you actually want to be mentally tough. It may sound stupid, but even
by just reading this short eReport you can be on your way. Most people go through life without any idea or though of trying to develop mental toughness. Now YOU are different.

Being mentally tough comes down to being able to make a decision or choice and then stick with it. Like deciding you want to become strong then being able to stick with the required training.

You have to practise on little things to start with and build up. Just like physical training. And make a conscious effort to stay at a high level of motivation by watching, looking at and reading motivational material. By living with certain principles that mean a lot to you personally, kind of working out your own 'code'. You can also set physical challenges for yourself that require mental toughness to complete.

NOTE: I need to make one very important point here. Having all the motivation in the world and making yourself the most mentally tough SOB to walk the planet . . . won't be of any help if you don't have the correct information about health, diet and how to train to start with. That's like trying to chop down a tree with a shovel, it ain't going to work no matter how hard you chop. Keep this in mind.

If you want to find the REAL deal on diet and training, check out more from;

http://www.spartanhealth.com/

Finally, allow me to present you with a thought;

Our greatest fear should be not that our lives will some day come to an end, but rather, that they may never begin.

Think about that for a second. I hope it inspires you to start living the way you really want. Especially if you are going through life in a body you aren't 100% happy with or you are in less than perfect health.

Get mentally tough today and start living your dreams.

"The Spartan path is not an easy one to follow, it is certainly the road less travelled, but if you choose this path you will be rewarded with ageless health and lean, strong body carved in stone - Dare to be a Spartan!"

Saturday, September 02, 2006

"I took the Spartan Path, and that has made all the difference."

I want you to imagine a road stretched out in front of you. It's a big road, like a freeway. I picture it as an old Roman style road, you know, paved with stone. On this road is a never ending stream of people.

It's the road of 'life' and the majority of people are all heading in the one direction. They are following along with the crowd.

They don't want to make the effort to train hard. They don't want to make any real changes to their diets. They want everything easier and faster without a thought to consequences. They believe all their problems can be solved with a magic pill sold on TV.

Then, to the side is another road branching away. It's a lot smaller, more like a path really. It's the 'Spartan Path'. As you head towards it someone says to you;

Don't go that way. It's the harder way. It's tough. It's not as easy to travel down as this main road we are all following. You'll have to give up  pleasures. You'll have to work hard. You'll have to make more effort  with foods. You don't want to be a Spartan, be average, it's easier.

What that person doesn't understand is, those who take the Spartan Path don't want to be like the average person. You want to stand out physically. You don't want to go through life in a soft, weak or out of shape body. You want real health, not the illusion of health. You want real strength and endurance not just the fake image of them. You have the spirit of a 'Spartan' inside you that
scorns soft living and laziness.

You believe there is a price to be paid for the rewards you are seeking. And you are tough enough to pay that price because you know the rewards are worth it!

You are strong enough to see that the instant pleasures of our modern Western diet are a trap. That the momentary comfort of being lazy is a trap. Pleasure for a second and pain and regret for a lifetime. So you choose the Spartan Path and you will be rewarded.

When people think of the term 'Spartan', they instantly think of hardship, pain and deprivation. The biggest secret of Spartan Living is the fact that a Spartan Lifestyle is 10 times more rewarding than average living.

You will have to give up some foods. But once you overcome the addiction of our modern diet and start to eat following the laws of nature and the wisdom of our ancestors, your diet will become an absolute joy! I kid you not. Not to mention it will keep you healthy, full of energy, strong and lean for life.

You will have to start a regular training program. But proper training isn't about suffering. The ancient Spartans trained hard but they enjoyed themselves. You will get fitter and stronger and your body will turn from soft-cookie-dough to carved-in-stone. Those kind of rewards are worth putting in the time and effort for a simple training program.

I am totally motivated by the example of the ancient Spartans. Their lives, their laws, their example and their myth. Some people just don't get that and I guess they'll never bother to get my program. That's cool. It's really not for everyone.

But if the image of the Spartans is at all motivational to you and you want to try the Spartan Path for yourself then I would urge you to take this opportunity and get my program.

-Dare to be a Spartan!-

The ancients Spartans took pride in having fit, muscular, lean and athletic bodies.

They actually laughed at other people who tried to look attractive by wearing fancy clothes and decorations. For they believed it was the physical vitality of a person that made them stand out, not lavish dress.

How true! Even today . . .

You see it all the time. People in the worst physical shape trying to make up for it by wearing expensive designer clothes with a heap of "bling bling" jewellery for decoration.

Meanwhile, Brad Pitt, being in lean and muscular shape can look good in rags, just watch the movie "Fight Club" as an example (one of my favorites).

OK, before I go any further lets be crystal clear on one thing. When I talk about having pride in your body, that doesn't mean strutting around all oiled up on the beach like a jerk. That kind of showing off and arrogance is for insecure losers.

I'm talking about being in great shape and being quietly and rightfully proud of it. That kind of confidence shines out of you like a searchlight. You'll stand out in a crowd without having to try.

I know what it's like to stand naked in front of a mirror and be embarrassed by the reflection. It sucks. Society is getting more and more fat and unfit. So much so there's now a growing movement to accept being fat, to love being large. To hell with that!

I want to live my life in an in-shape body,a body that would make a Spartan proud.

If you feel the same way, then make up your mind to get into shape now . . . and to stay that way for life.

I have a very simple belief about how to look good. Very simple.

Get lean and add shape with functional muscle. I don't care what looks you were born with (and you shouldn't either), everyone looks better with a lean, athletic physique.

I don't mean we should look like pumped-up-bodybuilders. Spartan Warriors were closer to modern Decathletes or Special Forces troops than bodybuilders. They had to be able to march or run long distances before going into battle. Then when they got to battle they needed the strength to fight.

We want a well muscled body, but it should have a high degree of conditioning. You should picture in your mind, you want to be the lion not the elephant, the shark not the whale.

Make a commitment to getting lean today.

I'll let you in on an important lesson I learned many years ago. It's not all about getting huge. You will look better (and feel better) with a lean body. I remember doing a heap of weight training when I was younger and feeling pretty big, only to be ignored by a group of women who were going nuts over the ripped guy right next to me. I could have snapped this guy in two, but he looked better than me because he was lean. Any muscle you have will look about
double once you lean up.

There was a famous Spartan General that was sent to a town to help defend it. The first thing he did was fine anyone who was too fat. He made the entire population start a daily exercise program and diet to toughen up. The town went on to kick the ass of the
attacking army.

My Spartan Health Regime program is a great way to make a serious commitment towards getting lean and building a functionally muscular and strong body - fast!

But it's not the only way. Guys and gals, no matter what diet and training plan you follow remember this;

Life is too darn short to go through it in a body you are not 100% proud of . . . don't settle for being out of shape for one more day.
