It's been a while since we've posted anything so I wanted to pop in and say hi. Hi.

Up next we're going to play Bonnaroo in Tennessee June 12th. We've been hearing about this fest for a long time (look at that picture above??!!), and we haven't played in Tennessee yet so we're itchin' to get there. Fun stuff. Also, in early July we're going to play the High Sierra Music Festival in Quincy, CA and then spend an afternoon in Big Sur on July 4th with some genius friends (Parson Red Heads, Port O'Brien, Mother Hips). Then, we're going to do a big free all-ages show at the beautiful Hammer Museum in LA on July 9th. It's going to be a special summer night for sure. In late August/ early September it looks like we'll be headed up the West Coast to play Bumbershoot in Seattle, one of the best festivals in one of the best towns. We'll also add a few more shows here and there while we're working on the record, so stop in and visit our tour page on this site, or on our mytwitfacebookspace pages. Also.......

We've been working on (and playing live) a bunch of new songs. On the last leg of touring with Neil we tried out songs with working titles such as Tall Buildings, House of 9's, Fallen Feather, Needle & Thread, plus a few songs we wrote late last year, Hunted and Keeping the Score. We're also working on some other new ones, one is called Catalyst that keeps running through my brain. Ideas are bubbling up ... with each member of the band contributing their own currents that continue to sway us toward wherever it is that we are meant to go. Enjoying the ride, for sure.

Hi there.

Hope yr well. We're in lovely London, Ontario right now. Having a great time out here on the road. Neil's been mixing it up a bit every night, blowing our minds with songs like Speakin' Out, Words, Tonight's the Night, Like a Hurricane, and Lost in Space. It's unreal.

Wanted to let you know that we've entered the 90's... that's right. A twitter page for Everest. If you're so inclined, follow along with our deep and meaningless ramblings and updates.

We had a live session featured on super great website DayTrotter the other day. You can download some live versions of Ghost Notes songs on their site. Recorded very early in the morning in Rock Island, IL after a late night......

Hi,

You can hear our World Cafe Performance recorded at WXPN in Philadelphia here:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=101693976

There is also a bonus track, "Black Covers". The recordings came out pretty great and the performance is a good representation of our live show during the 2nd leg of Neil Young tour in North America. We hope you enjoy it. The performance should be downloadable as a podcast by the end of the day...

Also, we've announced another round of dates opening for Neil Young. The dates are posted on our page and we'll post some updates soon too as more shows are added. We're beyond honored that they've invited us out again, and definitely in a bit of happy shock. We tried out 6 new songs on the West Coast Tour we just finished and we'll continue to try out new ideas on the next tour. Really looking forward to it!

love,
everest

Heylo...

Friday's performance of "Rebels in the Roses" is now online:

Everest live on Conan.

Click on the 5th act to go straight to the song...

We had an incredible time on the show, and we'll try to post a blog about the whole experience soon on our new website (any day now) ...

Also, we'd like to thank some special folks who helped this happen: everyone at Vapor Records for getting us there; Conan, Jim, Roey, John, Max et all at Late Night for asking us to play and making it really fun; the World's Greatest Human Bill Bentley for his valued friendship; the charming and amazing Samantha Tillman for her hard work; our oh-so-kind and patient hosts Lauren and Aaron; Adam at Tungsten Amps for the amazing tweed Cortez, and our old friend Dani Linnetz (and Erik!) from Go Fish! for lending us funky vintage lamps and stuff to help us feel at home.

Hello... here's a bunch of news......

The day is here. It's pretty exciting...... our debut album Ghost Notes is available everywhere music is sold.

Amoeba will be broadcasting our performance today live on the net at 7pm. Click here to tune in.

We'd like to take a moment to recognize some very special folks who support the music they love simply because they are drawn to do it. They've been very supportive of us, and their creative output is an inspiration. This is a short list that only scratches the surface, but please pay every one of these folks a visit and you will be rewarded with engaging content and great free music to sample:

RadioFreeSilverlake
Classical Geek Theatre
Buzz Bands
You Set The Scene
LAist
Rock Insider
Aquarium Drunkard
Surfing on Steam
LA-Underground
Square Girls
Passion of the Weiss
Amateur Chemist
Scott McDonald on Buzznet

Again, that's just a start.... visit each of these and new doors shall be opened to you as well.

We've begun announcing European tour dates, so please stay tuned for more. Are we really playing a freaking castle in Dublin with Neil Young? It's a wild world.

We're listening to our vinyl test pressings today, and it's pretty unreal. The double album will be on sale May 20th (2 x 180g records with gatefold sleeve). We had to spread the 50 minutes of music over 4 sides to get the sound right, but it will be worth the wait....

xo,

Elverest
PS: Sara Keirsten Quin, you are amazing. T&S XOXOXOX!!!

Hi.

There is a one-page feature on Everest in the new Filter Magazine. Flight of the Concords are on the cover...

Also, All Music Guide reviewed our album.. woah.

Review by Jo-Ann Greene

"Ghost Notes is the perfect moniker for this album, Everest's first. The group may be new, but the members have been kicking around the L.A. indie scene forever, finally coming together in this amalgamation to resurrect the sounds of the past. Recorded mostly live in the studio entirely on analog tape, the entire set has an early-'70s feel, as well as a glow to the sound that reflects Mike Terry's expert engineering and production. The album divides rather nicely into two halves, just like a vinyl set, with the first half a bit brighter with pop undertones, the second more shadowed and pushing into jam and prog rock territory. "Trees" is buffeted by a breeze blowing out of the South, "Into Your Soft Heart" is tinged with British Invasion R&B and a whip of Who-esque power chords, a styling taken to its logical upbeat conclusion on the wildly infectious "Reloader." In contrast are downtempo numbers like "Rebels in the Roses" and "Black Covers," the former folk-tinged, the latter lusher in sound. Each one has its own many distinctive charms, but it's the gorgeous, introspective "Only in Your Mind" that is the centerpiece of this half of the set. If you distilled Dark Side of the Moon, Pet Sounds, and Revolver into a glass and poured it over the California surf, it would probably sound like this. The glories of "Mind" are equalled by the exquisite aural tapestry of "I See It in Your Eyes," a head-nodder of a number whose rich acoustic guitar is underlit by the tidal waves of organ, while the electric guitar eventually wades right into the surf. However, its jammy feel and proggy aura are counter-pointed by passages clearly inspired by Neil Young. Meanwhile, "Standing By" begins like an acoustic ballad but builds into an amazing spacy extravaganza. "Angry Storm" is gently rocked with yearning, and the coursing "Stumble Waltz" never puts a foot or note wrong, with the album closing with the powerful acoustic ballad "Taking on the Future." The music throughout is sublime, the sound extraordinary, the arrangements inspired, and Russell Pollard's lyrics capture the style of the past while feeling as fresh as today. Classic sounds make for a classic album, which is precisely what Ghost Notes is."

We're sending that one to our moms.

Record release issssss coming up! Neat time right now.

hope to see you soon,
Elverest

Wow...we've had a couple of unforgettable weekends. Big Sur was as beautiful as we'd imagined. The organizers of The Autumn Music Festival were so gracious and kind to us and all the bands. We camped under the stars after the show, next to the campfires, drinking and eating and singing and life seemed old fashioned and even for a moment, peaceful.

Our time in Mountain View this weekend was mind blowing. The Bridge School benefit, a weekend of selflessness lead by two of the most exemplary human beings, Neil and Pegi Young. What amazingly generous, giving and lovely people. The weekend was filled with inspired performances by Neil, Tom Waits, My Morning Jacket and many others. We watched Neil play Sugar Mountain from the side of the stage, it was amazing to see what he sees when he plays, my heart was refreshed. Tom Waits killed it with Kronos Quartet. Never seen anything like it! He showed everyone how its done. Real.
"Why do Lobsters and shrimp never give to charity?"
asked Tom Waits,
"Because they're shellfish."
His set brought on old tears that only he can provoke.

We are changed and thankful for the experience to say the least.

So we're back, refreshed and starting on mixing our record today. Hope to have it out soon.

Life is kind at the moment, thanks be.
