.. .. .. .. .. .. ....

What is up?  Hope everyone had a great summer!  We at Breaking Laces headquarters would like to update you on some coming and goings and give you the layout of what’s going on.  Here’s a little info on what we are recording, where we will be playing, how you can hear us streamed live this Wednesday and some updates as well.

 ....

Music:....

 ....

First off, for those of you who haven’t heard, we are at the tail end of completing our new full-length album, as yet untitled of course.  Mixing and Mastering will go down this month and after the holiday season and a flurry of marketing preparation, it will be available in the early Spring of 2010.

 ....

Don’t fret however.  We in Breaking Laces land have a treat to hold you over until then and will be releasing a live album, titled “Live at Seaside.”  It was recorded and released for mp3 on a limited basis a year or so ago, but we have had it remastered into high fidelity and will be packaging it and having it available at shows and online in both digital and physical formats.

 ....

Email:....

 ....

In a little bit of logistical news, we will also be switching our “email sending system” from our trusty AOL address server to a fancy and shiny new EPK type format powered by Reverb Nation. This new system will allow us to be in touch with you more frequently and be a resource for y’all to hear new music, see new videos and all that fun stuff.  It will be linked to all the Twitters, Facebooks and Myspaces of the world, so everything Laces will be available in an efficient and fun package.  The base email will still come from breakinglaceshq@aol.com, but be sure to double check your spam filters just in case.

 ....

Shows:....

 ....

Oh yeah, those things!  We will be heading out early November for an extended fall tour, but have a couple of things lined up for the week before we mix the new album.  We are playing mostly in the Buffalo area but the trek involves a live on-air so you can watch us live as we play.

We would like to cordially invite you to a special acoustic show this Thursday, September 10th in Brooklyn.  The show is part of “Fashion’s Night Out,” a worldwide event held in twelve countries to spur retail sales in order to support the fashion industry. The show is taking place at Brooklyn Industries on Smith Street in the heart of Williamsburg.

Why else is this so special? Well, we will be there rocking with one of our favorite bands, Scout, and since their wonderful singer Ashen recently did some vocal lines on our new album, chances are we’ll be doing some collaboration.  Plus we will be debuting some songs from the amazing new album set for release in early 2010 and showcasing our rootsy acoustic chops.

If that’s not cool enough, there will be free cocktails, wine and cheese and if you are shopper; special discounts and sneak peaks at winter collections.  The event is co-hosted by Vogue, Conde Nast, the City of New York and many others and should be a total blast.  Oh, and supermodels too.  I think.  The event is free, but you have to RSVP.

Hey all, quick reminder that Breaking Laces will be playing NYC's Delancey this Friday night at 9:30PM.  Come join us
for a ridiculous good time at the layer cake that is the Delancey (grungy downstairs music room, upscale bar on the middle floor, and airy super chill roof patio).
We  wanted to take the opportunity to bring months of our studio work to the stage and we probably won't be playing much until CMJ in October so definately
make it a night and check us out.  We go on at 9:30 and the Delancey usually runs on time.

Hey all,

As you may or may not know we have been holed up in some of NYC's best studios the last three months making the album of our dreams (and hopefully yours).
Well, we finally got a day off and guess what happens?  Yup we get a call tonight (monday) to play a show tomorrow (tuesday).
Our good friends in the publishing industry are hosting a showcase and a band fell out and we fell in.
So, if you can make it, feel free to join us for an intimate set at the Rodeo Bar and hear us let loose the tiger that has been in its studio cage for months.
Details below.  We will also be playing the Delancey in NYC on Friday, August 7th and will be debuting some amazing new songs that we've recorded.
We'll bust out a few nuggets tomorrow as well.

BREAKING LACES SET FOR SXSW BROOKLYN, NY ACOUSTIC ROCK TRIO TO DEBUT MATERIAL FROM UPCOMING THIRD ALBUM DUE OUT LATER THIS YEAR

"Six hands, three bodies-that's who we are," says lead
vocalist/guitarist/main songwriter WILLEM HARTONG of BREAKING LACES.
It's a simple declaration of artistic purpose, but one that underlines
the special charm of this three-piece alternative acoustic rock trio
from Brooklyn, NY who'll debut new material from their third album-due
out later this year--during two shows at SXSW in March (see itinerary
below). "I hope the album makes people cry happy tears," WILLEM
continues. "I hope it makes people want to dance and have sex with each
other. I hope it makes people feel less alone."

Having earned praise for their 2003 debut album Sohcahtoa from Rolling
Stone ("[Breaking Laces] provide more substance than any toss-off
singer-songwriter") and Paste ("Exactly what Indie Rock needs now"),
BREAKING LACES kept the momentum going with their second album Lemonade
(2005) and 2006 EP Astronomy Is My Life But I Love You. They were
declared the 2006 Best Band in NYC by Indie Sounds NY, scored the honor
of being the XM Radio Artist in Residence for June 2007, and flat out
won the 2007 National Starbucks Music Makers Competition. Rounded out
by ROB CHOJNACKI (bass, keys and backing vocals) and SETH MASARSKY
(drums), BREAKING LACES began with a grassroots vision and big time
goals, and after years of fever touring-logging over 350 shows-they've
built a loyal following.

The music of BREAKING LACES--honest and free, earnest and pop-infused,
different, yet familiar--takes flight onstage, with infectious band
chemistry and a dynamic mastery of sound that resonates on trademark
songs like "Geek In Love, "Garbanzo Beans" and "Plain Jane" and new
tunes like "Before You Drown" and "When It Starts To Break," not to
mention the random cover of the unusual such as Radiohead's "Talk Show
Host." Says WILLEM: "It's extremely cool to cover a band like
Radiohead, Built To Spill or The Flaming Lips and have that be an
invitation to a new audience member to join us on common ground. It's
an ice breaker of which we can then really get to know each other."

In the meantime we have printed up four song teaser samplers that will be available at shows, on http://www.myspace.com/breakinglaces and shortly on our website. We even made a cool homemade video for our "single" Here to Stay…available on http://www.breakinglaces.com. We will be back on the road late November as well.
