Hi gangs,
Heads up.

John has an awesome new project going called Heretics Lost. It's been playing on WFMU lately, which hopefully you have been privy to but if you missed it—no worries, darling... this is the 90's and we have the internet, so nothing burns up or ever fades away.

Here's the sinful synopsis:

"The story of
Heretics Lost follows the adventures of a group of seven friars who were chosen by The Pope to travel to the “New World” to convert the natives of the land to Christianity.  Unfortunately for the friars, they soon find themselves stranded by a mutinous ship’s crew, and left on an island populated by Bacchus-worshipping women.  This situation creates all sorts of ethical and existential crises for the Brothers, but no crisis of conscience can compare to the horror of the “One True Native” of the island; a mysterious monster!"

And here's how to hit it up smooth:

And the archived podcast of the first three episodes:

Also, czeck out: http://www.johnhoganstudio.com for pictures of live performances and other internet-sanctioned fun, hey?

Bye, we love you,

Hey gang,

We're psyched to have our little engine that could, "Snap Goes the Gator Jaw" coming out on the next installment of the Tony Hawk-destroying Skate videogame: Skate 2. So if you're into doing digital ollies, why not sit a spell and do them to the manic sounds of Ponce De Leon?

We're psyched because of who else is on it. Run-DMC, Wu-Tang, Nas, Public Enemy and Right Said Fred. Thanks to Thorn01 for setting it up for us.

So, as you can see, we're not defunct. In fact, quite the opposite! Which could be "infunct" or possibly, "prefunct?" We've debunked the defunct myth. And here's what's more......

Yes, more.

We're nearing completion of our second album. John's been busy as a beaver polishing off the tracks out in that city of polish: Los Angeles. Maybe we'll post some up here, eventually.

Here are some links about the game....

Hey, Greg has a song called "Mustache" out on the new Funkey Monkeys album, which also has the distinct honor of being the title track!

The Funkey Monkeys are the brainchild of Joshua Sitron, composer of the Dora the Explorer theme song, as well as Greg's former neighbor in Brooklyn (which could also be construed as a distinct honor).

You can get that bad boy on iTunes as well as CD Baby and probably every other online mp3 retailer in creation.

Sincerely Yrs,
Mustachioed Son

Hey'all,

Ponce De Leon (us) will be playing live on the radio! Syd Reagan III's show on 94.1 KSLG, some time between 2-4pm this Wednesday, July the 18th!

If your old Yorx stereo doesn't pick up that far around the earth, you can go to www.kslg.com for some iradio eInternet ipod tuneE eRadio shenanigans.

Finally! Now you can hear us play live without having to look at us!

Optimal, really.

Oh, yeah, and don't forget about the whale of good time we're propagatin' this Thursday in Portland and Freaky Friday in Eureka.

Me and Us

We're planning on touring up and down the West Coast towards the end of July. Anyone up to get slimed? If you'd like to play with us, or know where the living hell we should be playing, give us a ringy-dingy, won't you?

Also: There should be a couple new jams popping up on this piece in a few. John's already got two new ones on the West Coast page: www.myspace.com/poncedeleonla

(Also 2: Electric Waterloo: My hard drive crashed and I dropped $2500 to get all the new music back. If you'd like to donate to the relief fund, please go to iTunes and buy our album as many times as you'd like.)

Is there any better mixture in the world than audio and mp3 technology? I know you're going to say, "yes, haven't you ever seen the results of an harmonious coupling of chocolate and peanut butter?" My easy response to that is that we jam so hard our songs are like JELLY and Peanut Butter--the easy checkmate against your triflin' Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, holmes.

What's the point of all this you ask?

Well, you can now get our tracks on iTunes, Beatport and eMusic is the point. This is also hot news for those of you desiring the deep track "Where's My Papa?" from the Thorn01 comp that came out last year.

Look out Rocky Balbo Bilbo Baggins, there's a new midget pugilist in your city/shire... That's right, Greg McKenna had moved to Philadelphia. Condolences can be sent to him via this webpage myspace whatever-the-fuck. But he is there to climb the marble stairs and raise his arms to the heavens in ersatz glory with his new expensive keyboard, so he can nail out the tracks for the next record, so save the condolences for Condoleeza Sleeza's hobbit birthday party.

Also.... Our intrepid label, Thorn 01, had a sidebar special thing in Remix magazine this month (with Tha Dogg Pound on the cover). They even mention our lil' musical that could. Nice! Check it smooth.

There was a smattering of press surrounding our sweet ass CD release, but for some reason we only clued y'all in to the positive ones. I think this is like spinning--or the No Spin Zone of Bill O'Reilly. How are you going to get a full view of the band from one angle? Anway, here's a bad review by a terrible writer who has no aptitude for musicology. We're just three dudes trying to make our way in the world, aren't we?

Anyway, enjoy it up.

NO! Not that kind of fluffer! No! But that would be alright I
suppose, too!

This kind of fluffing is us being the musical guest on Fluff in
Brooklyn's podCast. They're into us totally and we're cool with
that, big time for real.... Check it:

http://www.fluffinbrooklyn.com

Oh, also, we put up the tour pix finally. There's good ones in
there.

Love, Greggers

P.S. Does anyone hate Columbus Day as much as us? I don't
think so! Let's have Ponce De Leon Day! Any day would be
fine. How about Decemeber 26th? Call congress, buttholes.
