-          Everything is going fine and so smooth here in our camp, all is fucking well!!!

***How did you get into extreme music for the first time and how old were you when Vex begun taking shape?

-         Before I discover the grindcore musick, I'm into punk/hardcore lifestyle and musick, I listen to a lot of punkrock and oldskul hardcore back when I'm still in my early college, I'm 16 at that time, and I have a punkrock band before, it was year 2002 if I'm not mistaken, after that I started looking for some other stuff that can be a good inspiration for me, then I found old Napalm Death album and Extreme Noise Terror, and some of my friends offer me others of the same kind like Agathocles and Ulcerhoea then blah blah blah sick stuff that I'm still listening so up to now! But we started to formed our band VEX when I'm 19 years of age.

***Did you play grind/crust musick since the very beginning?

-  Nope, like what I've said in the last question! I'm into punkrock shit of thing before we formed a band named DISSENT NOISE (2004) which plays Metallic/Crustcore then right after we disbanded, I started to formed another band, and it's the VEX era.

***Can you tell us why you have chosen Vex as bands name? Do you think it fits well to your musick style? How would you describe your type of music then?

-          I wrote lot of names for our band then I told them to pick from those, then our guitarist in the named of Zero decided to pick the name VEX, then our drummer agree to that so our 2^nd guitarist too… and because I'm also the one who think that, I do agree also, coz for us it sounds great and really fit for a band who plays psychaotic type of Grind.

***How does the song writing process work for Vex? What kind of gear do you use? And how much time do you spend to mutilate a song?

-          It's not too much time I spent in lyrics writing, it's more on my inspirations and our experiences in our everyday struggle in life, our disappointment, our ups and down and how we deal with all of the shit we all have in our fucked-up society. My gear is my mind and my hand, what comes in my mind is what my hands wrote in.

***What were some of Vex's musical and non - influences?

-          We do have different types of musical influences, our drummer loves Melodic Oldskul Black Metal, our Bassist loves Thrash and Power Metal, our two guitarist loves Beatdown Hardcore/Punk, Me and my co-vox (Tenga) listen to a lot of Grindcore and Stoner Sludge, so combining all that shits and what comes out is VEX.

***From a lyrical standpoint, Vex covered a lot of anti-authoritarian social/political issues. Who wrote the lyrics?

-          It's all comes down on me (Marcore) and my co-vox (Tenga).

***Do you think politics has a place in grind/crust anymore, or is it 'preaching to the converted'?

-   I don't see that it just a preaching ceremony or something like that, I don't even care about politics, it so happened that we play and we speak about that, and it's not just for the grind/crust scene anymore, coz it's all for us, and everyone knows what happened now, its just some of us or should I say most of us doesn't really care about what we fuckin say.

***Just listened to the samples posted on your myspace page, it fucken blew me away!!! How's the new material sounding in comparison to the old stuff?
-  We are very very happy on the outcome of all our effort; we fuckin raise our fist for that! We all love it, the new recording was pretty well done compare to the 1^st released we had back in 2005. It's really not the same, but still we both love the 1^st and 2^nd recordings.

***Do you have a great admiration to serial killers?
-  Fuck! Tight question, next…
***If you are to be a serial killer, who would you be and what sorts your will your victims be?

-          Norberto Manero, hahahaha! Stay true, Pinoy Killer, I will kill all those killers.

***And how would you like to die??
- Sleeping in the gutter then accidentally hit by a 25 wheeler truck driven by a drunken punk!!! Fuck, or should I dance myself to death!

***Most of your songs clock around the 1 minute. Do you deliberately try and keep them that short or it just a coincidence?

-  We all love Short fast Songs, so we just try to do and keep that in our style….

***You're also behind CONFRONT ZINE. Tell us about the latest issue which was just released recently.. Where you a part of other fanzines before this one?

- Yeah, I'm the editor of the zine named CONFRONT. I recently released the 2^nd issue last February, and this is my one and only zine…

***Why did you chose CONFRONT as a zine name?

-  Coz it sounds a combination of progressiveness and aggressiveness, but still I don't know why!?! Hahaha…

***How did all this got started and how are things going with it today? What's your main goal when you first started doing your zine?

-          It all started one night when I was in my bedroom, alone and empty doing some *****!?!, but seriously, upon reading lot of lot of lot of zine daily, it comes to my mind if why not make a zine also which will combine all the zine that I've read in my whole life, hahaha! All the zines that I've read was a very great and big inspiration for me to make my own,and how this things going with it today is very very nice! It so happened that I found a new place where I can make copies of my zine for free, do the printings of everything at no cost for me, and having a free materials which is a big help in making me this zine so so so affordable for everyone!!! Hahaha… but about my main goal is still unanswered!!! But just to make a little information for you and for the readers, all I want is to make a crap which can be useful and helpful, just like any other zine! It's all the same!!! It's up to you what you can say!???

***How many copies of each issue do you release? How does the distribution occur?

-          I don't know how many copies of my zine being released for the last issue, I don't count it! Coz as long as I can print it, I will!!! And aslong as I can distribute it, I will!!! So no need to count how many copies per issue I can produce… but just a wild guess for the 1^st issue, I think it's more that 200 copies, along the way… I don't know exactly… but there's no prizes for a correct answer right!??? Hehehe…

***What motivates you in maintaining your zine? What is the most enjoyable aspect of making a zine?

-          The readers, contributors, bands, friends, events, plans, actions, frustrations, problems, love, pain, anger of the everyday life!!! That's what motivates me in continuing this tender zine,. I enjoy every little thing about the whole zine, the articles, artworks, interviews, releases, news, criticism, insecurities, blah blah blah… but the most is the reviews, I really enjoy reviewing stuff… and sharing it to everybody whom I've met is the last best thing I enjoyed… so hard to explain!

      ***What do you think makes a good goregrind or grindcore song?

      -  Riffs, beats, lines and the drunken voice of the vocals… and the way how they perform it!

***What is your opinion on people who completely pay no attention to the grind core genre as being a waste of aptitude and a hideous form of music without even listening to it much?

-  Are they serious!?? Or they are all a bunch of shit!??? Hehehe… nah! I don't know coz I don't just make and play this kind of stuff to please anyone! I just make it for my own, it's up to them if they like it, but whether they like it or not or even they pay no attention on this kind of stuff, I still make it as my way on how to make them feel we are here! And we exist!

And hell-0??? What a waste!?? I don't think so… hahaha!

***Are there any gigs cumming up for you guys? How would you describe Vex on stage? And how do people normally react to your musick?

-          Yes! This cumming May and June, we have gigs somewhere in the street, just watch out for that! And maybe we can play again on some big events here in our d.i.y world… I don't know! I can describe Vex on stage as a wild beast ready to eat the whole piece of meat being prepared for everyone, but that doesn't mean were Greed, it so happened that !?!, hahaha… and how do people react to our musick is totally sick, it's you who can answer that question!!! I leaved it to you mate'

***Aside from playing in the band, what do you do during your spare time?

-          I play vocals for my band VEX, and for DEAD ON THE SPOT, then on my sparetime I go to work, is that a sparetime!? I don't think so… hahaha! And if we don't have gigs on weekend I do stay in my circle of friends, bumming around on the streets, drinking and having some smoke luvin… my zine, writing, and reading… that's all!

***Which CD's would you say is essential in every grind/crust collection? What kinda shit has been in your cd players lately?

-          Old Napalm Death album, Extreme Noise Terror, Fear of God, Agathocles, Disrupt, Wolfpack, Psychoneurosis, Misery and Extinction of Mankind., But I mostly listen now to d-beat crustcore and some stoner sludge musick… fuck!!! I'm wasted.

*** You have an authority to implement a new law in the Philippines, what are those?

-          I can't imagine myself having an authority to implement some laws, but if that stupid thing come, I will implement the law which will eliminates or abolished all other laws… so what you think!?!? Is that nice!?? Hehehe… surely I will…

***What can we expect from the band in the near future?

-          Expect a lot of wickedness in the next few months, hahaha! Nope, este dope! We don't know, were so lazy this fast few weeks, we don't have exact idea but one thing is for sure! We will continue the plague of the full length…

-Because my Mother is Sick, my Father doesn't have any job as of now, I have two sisters who are now in college and I'm the bread winner of the family, I'm very very hardworking and I have so much patience, I find new things easy to learn, I love working so much, I can do more than 1,000,000 hours overtime, I love sexy officemate, I love free Coffee from your company and I really need to Stole what you've Stolen from my community... 2. Here's the mic, please introduce the band and give us a brief history of VEX.?

- Good day everyone! I'm Marcore and I do vocals in this band VEX, my buddies in this crap is Tenga-backing vocals, Roman-basstard, Hubert-Guitarded, Wilmer-GuitariffiC and Mikill-Drumber. We Started VEX wayback 2004 as a 5 piece of shit until we decided to add up some noise them we hooked up Tenga in 2005, then we experienced lot of fucking changes, from the style of musick to members. And as of now we are happy to serve you 24/7…. Hehehe! Sicko!

3. Please update us on your releases, some zines, bands aside from VEX you're involved in.? Moonlighting galore!

- We have our "Cum and taste our revenge" (demo cd 2005), then "Capitalism is cannibalism" (full length 2008), I released 2 issues of my Zine named CONFRONT. And aside from VEX I also do vocals in my Gloomy Crust/trash band DEAD ON THE SPOT.

4. You're a part of the Sampcore Collective. Please tell us in a nutshell what you do to help the collective.

- Yes I can say that I'm also a part of the Sampcore Collective, I hope no one will react so much in this, I been in this circle of friends since late 2004, I know that I don't have enough time and effort to this, or should I say I don't spend most in this circle, but I still do what I can in order to help and to support this collective. If they still see that, or if they really consider that as a help! I don't know, I'm just like this since start. Whether I'm in the community or even if I'm alone… I still the Marcore you know!!! Hahaha… I'm being true to myself!

5. What's your say on the current D-beat phenomena? I think it's been there for a long time now. But as of late, there's a surge of young bands doing the beat.

- Yeah! Fuckin d-beat!!! I also noticed that, but ofcourse, it started since the beginning! We just adopt and revised this fuckin awesome style in the way we can do. Hails to those who play that kind of fuckin!!! Keep it up!

6. Most of your lyrics are politically inclined; do you consider yourselves as a political band? Is there enough space for emo lyrics in VEX sound? Hehe

- Do I really need to consider us as political band!?! I don't have enough idea about that, and I don't even know what's the standard… hehehe! Nope, were just so happy about the politics here in our country so as our president does, hehehe!

We just speak about what's happening today, yesterday and tomorrow, so I don't really know! Do you!?? About the emo lyrics!? I think yes, all of our songs are emotional, the way I wrote the words…

7. Bystorm and Choke Cocoi did a south east asian tour in Malaysia and Singapore. Is it time for VEX to reach out to our asian brothas?

- Yeah, so I'm calling the attention of Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines and any other kind of transportation to support us in our southeast asian tour in the near future, you can drop the free tickets at my place… ok! Hahaha! But mate, we don't have any plans as of now, we love to but there's so much in our mind nowadays that really affect our schedule. But as soon as were free for travel again, we will! We love to hit European countries first. GRRRRRRrrr!!!!

8. Are there any members of VEX into activism? Food not Bombs, and what not?

- Activism in the way we directly counter the stupid culture being push down our throat by the society, I can say yes!!! We also do food feeding program, we help other bands in their plans, I do attend discussion, and as of now I do cooperate with some of my fellow mate in the scene in the upcoming anti-g8 campaign this June-July 2008 and were so happy that our activities is slowly being accomplished with the help of everybody…

After a long discussion about ideas, musick and other fucked up things, me (Marcore) and Lester a.k.a (Tenga Smegma) decided to form a band who will tackle all those aspects. As we keep on thinking about what should be the name of our band, I realized that in order to stop all the stupid things whom our govt. wants to fed us, the one in the throne should be kill and it should be done as fast as we can, at that time "Dead On The Spot" simply popped up on my mind and that psycho senseless word keep blocking and spinning our hallucination so we just decided that this will be the name of our band, sounds stupid and horrible but its our own decision. Late of August 2006, we did rehearse in a d.i.y studio and finishing 4 originals fast, groovy crust/grind assault with Marcore on vocals, Lester also on vocals, and Ian as our drummer, Roman on bassturvation and Jf as our lead guitarist. 1 day after that, we play on a gig organized by some of our friends; this is the "CRUST FEST" man! We summoned our 4 original compositions and it was a hell night… that gig was pretty nice and great! But unluckily after that, our band suffered from a severe shocking change, our 2^nd vocals left the band due to unexplainable personal reasons, but this is not the end of all our shit and effort. Patrick from the grindcore alcoholocaust band TOXEMIA joined as our 2^nd guitarist and all the vocals just go down on me, but after a short stint on our band D.O.T.S, sadness fill our hearts as Patrick leaved again our band with a big smile on his face saying "that's all folks", so we decided to look for another guitarist and in the whole wide body of Selo we found that…, we deep hearted accept him, and do rehearsing again to continue our propaganda and friendship…we do experienced again a stomach breaking change,coz 2 others go in a different path, but we still decided to continue! now the permanent line-up of our band is:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />....

Interview with Vex

1. Tell us a little history of Vex. What leads to the formation of the band?

=first of all, we would like to thanx the reader, haha.... have a nice day reading this interview...

we dont have history as of now,we been attacking for almost 2yrs but for us it is just only a beginning of our revolution!

VEX was formed last sept. year 2004,  we start attacking wid 5 heads banging, then last year 2005 one of our closest friend "tenga smegma" join us for another attack as co vox'. and what leads to the formation of the band? ahhhmmm...? for us, people wid the same philosophy in life are brought together, thats  the main reason why we are here, aside from that we are studying at 1 school (lyceum of our corrupt republic of the phlippines.) we are influenced by the HATE,RAPED MOTHER EARTH,CRIMES,OPPRESSION,POVERTY,RACISM,ALCOHOL and a little bit of NATURAL DRUGS. hahaha...

2. Vex is playing political grind, why do you prefer that kind of music? Is it a good mode to spread your message?

=yeah!!! we do prefer that kind of musick, bcoz we are all aggressive, we really like fast,loud,punk music. we are now living in the world that doesnt move and change so we decided to send nor spread our ideas,musick and opinion the way the people will really love and accept directly thats why we spread it fast,error prone but straight to da point.

3. The cover of your latest demo features the president with her face decomposing, are you aware that things like this could lead to court or jail?

=hahaha... we all aware on that thing, we know that someday, sometime, someone will arrest us and detain us, but we dont fuckin care about that. we just want the people to know whats the truth behind the smiling face our president, that she really decomposing ass of now,the same with our country.

4. What do you think of our president, anyway?

=our president??? she's a bit cute like a hobbit, she's indemand as a whore,she eat and bite like an ogre...
she's very talented person, she wrote,she tell jowks that aint funny,she master and graduated at a popular school back at U.S under the course B.S LIE.

5. Your views regarding the current state of our country and government?

=state??? state is full of hipocrisy, state is not for us.... nevermind the state...

6. Give us more info regarding your demo, where can we find it and stuffs like that.

=our demo is actually a 10 harassing traks, 3 of this traks was a cover song from our main influence like NAPALM DEATH,AGATHOCLES and BURN THE MASSES., our demo was released under no label, it is a D.I.Y record and was release by us for free... some friends distro it, and sell it for much cheaper price...

7. On the demo, there's this song about animal awareness, are you all vegatarian?

=yeah!!! this song was written when i was practicing vegetarian, but i failed, our rhytm guitarist was a lacto vegan and our lead guitarist practicing vegetarian.

8. What do yuo think about Peta, especially the elitist PeTa Philippines? Do you agree with their actions?

=Peta have a good intentions and i have no reason to disagree on their actions....

9. I also like this song called "Breakdown of Governance". Tell us the story behind the song.

=i really like that song too. i wrote that lyrics when our government was on their breakdown, when too many people do protest against our president and our government. hahaha... i thought that it was really the breakdown, but sadly to say, they survive....

10. Philippines is one of the poorest country in the world, what do you think are the answer to this problem?

=we are poorest not on UNITY,RESPECT FREEDOM and NATURAL WEALTH...
we are poor on money, bcoz of all the shitheadz who try to govern us...

11. Do you agree with CHACHA? Do you think that it would work for our country?

=CHACHA... ofcorz not! nothing will really help our country but us, if we all cooperate and do the same actions,do our responsibilty as a human we can change the world to better...

12. Punk commercialism is mostly directed to those who sell "punk" stuffs at malls, but what about those who are in Recto? Are they legal and not commodifying punk because they are in a more "local" place?

=we are against commercialism, isnt? so we really hate people who use punk for profit...
and those poser shops at recto who sell punk stuffs for their own interest, there are also shops at recto which in D.I.Y ethic...like RADIATION AREA, but as of now R.A was closed bcoz of some personal reasons...

using punk for profit will not make u rich and famous...
so think again and better off DEAD.

13. Not too long ago, there was this PP1017. What do you feel when the president annmounced this procalmation, do you fear for your own safety? Do you ever think that this was going to be Martial Law sooner?

=PP1017 was nothing to do, it is just another martial law...and when our president announced that shit' i was laughing and laughing, i dont fear death, so i dont fear to that shit too... she can LIE but she cant HIDE...

14. What do you feel when it was lifted?

=hahaha....i feel cool and comfy after that, hehehe....
i drink and drink until i feel toxicated.

15. There's this issue regarding the Sagada 11. What do you think about it?

=another sad story for us, POLICE BRUTALITY sucks!!!

16. You're working on it, right? What are the actions, events you do to help the imprisoned punks?

yeah!!! i dont have much time to visit our fellow travellers, so the better way to help them is to send and spread the news to other country and friends., i ask them for some help and support, some of them response and do their actions,some are not.

17. Regarding the Sagada 11, isn't it the right time for punks and metal alike to unite and work for the immediate release of them? I've spoken to this metal band, but they say "We're not interested about them bevause we're not punks", what do you think of that?

=we should unite everytime.... we should help our own kind., theres no reason to ignore this kind of issue, bcoz we are all affected by this, and maybe some other time it will happen to you, me and to our relatives and friends...

whose metal band told you dat??? crucify them and buried them undead...

if they are not interested, we dont interested to them too...
that attitude doesnt make them a punk nor metal, otherwise a shitheads and ignorant.
