ICS Vortex (real name: Simen Hestnæs), the former bassist/clean vocalist for the Norwegian symphonic black metal band DIMMU BORGIR , has released the following statement regarding his departure from the group: "I've really enjoyed the ride; the DIMMU
years have been awesome. I look forward to concentrating fully on my
own project now, and the opening possibility to resurrect a band or
three. "A special thanks to all the crazy and lovely people I have met on the road with DIMMU
over the years, for the support from so many of you, and for the
continuing interest in my musical projects. I will always treasure the
albums and the brotherhood as it was before the cabin-fever music
industry and greed went METALLICA on our asses. "My support goes to Mustis [former DIMMU BORGIR keyboardist; real name: Øyvind Mustaparta], the true creative force in DIMMU for the last ten years, and his rightful legal chase." Simen will meet his LAMENTED SOULS
bandmates in mid-September to plan a new release and a few gigs in
Norway. He is also planning to get together with the rest of ARCTURUS to discuss the group's future and a possible reunion.

Ninguém me deu resposta e nada foi feito.
Foi muito bom tocar e escrever ao lado de Dimmu Borgir, mas agora é
tempo de ir em frente...

OK
this is may be kind of weird for some of you to understand, but its actually a pretty cool thing.
As alot of you know, or may not know, Carnaval is one the most treasured things in Brazilian culture. It is a huge part of the culture here & quite a major deal to be invited. It is not about just shaking your ass or tits, it is a whole big deal & trust me, very hard to learn. I was invited by the biggest samba school in Brazil to be on their "superstar" float at Carnaval.. I am also the first person in metal that has been invited (Matthew Mc Conahue was invited, and many other stars). Nobody from Sepultura was ever involved. I have to say that I am very proud, especially since my family is Brazilian as well.
They judge the schools as they parade ( the school that has invited me, won last year, so we are the last ones to parade..trust me its like an hour long to pass thru the whole of Sambadrome). They judge each school on the samba skills, outfits(yes, i have a very sexy gold outfit & will post pics if you ask nicely), their singing of the song , outfits, and looks.
It feels great to know that metal has now made it into the biggesst, most traditional and very mainstream part of Brazilain culture & I feel honored to be chosen to represent the metal community.. I am totally stoked to have accomplsihed this. There will be an extreme amount of press there as well. This is where the supremodel in me comes out..this is a very non metal, but extremely glamorous thing & a great way to bring metal to an even more mainstream level here and expose more metalheads to the tv show (we alrreafy get over 9 million viewers here) I do here and get more attention to the bands whose videos we play on the show.
I hope that those of you who get the Brazilian stations, and those of you in S America, watch me & cheer on!!
Metal will always get bigger & bigger
Stay Brutal!!

Ola...
I would be updating this blog on my site, but I have to get a new powerchord!!! The blog will not allow me to update from another computer.
I have been slammed with stuff here & barely have time to breathe. I am not completely done moving into my sweetheart's place. I need to convince him to turn one of the other rooms into a huge walk in closet for me lol.
There are many shows here and I am looking fwd to seeing the Haunted & other bands passing through.
We added a recent interview with Frank from Suffocation... please go to:
www.metalsdarkside.com and click on the interviews page.
Brutally Yours
