I sit at a cluttered desk with a head full of bullshit about torts that I will most likely never need to know, finding myself blogging. What has the world come to when one blogs to avoid ones obligations. Perhaps in 2007 blogging qualifies as an obligation. I don't know.

Anyway, I thought it best to update the public on the latest happenings in the world of Ancient Free Gardeners. We have indeed gone a little bit quiet since the big EP launch a little while back, and there is reason for this. As fans (do they exist?) of this history know, Damo, bass player extraordinaire, unstrapped his bass forever and decided to put some serious time into his punk band, Perfect Reason. On that note, you should visit their myspace at myspace.com/perfectreason11 as their new material sounds fucking amazing, even for a punk averse individual such as myself.

Following Damo's departure we picked up Andy Williams, who had a pluck for a little while and was kind enough to exercise his right to rock and roll for the launch. We are now, however, in search of a new bass player, and the ad we're putting in Beat Magazine isn't a joke at all. We really want one. We need one.

More importantly, Sewelly left the band a couple of weeks ago, with an eye for greener pastures. Literally. His work in grass growing, cutting, breeding, morphing, fellating, molesting and tender caressing is taking up too much of his life, and so we parted ways amicably. It was hard to see him leave, but the show must go on, even when no shows are booked.

So, Cal (previously the band's sound engineer and the lady genius behind the recording of our EP) has stepped in to hit some drums. He even bought a new kit, and it is, to colloquialise (surely not a word), fully sick. Vinnie has promoted himself to full member status, so that he can eventually leave us in the lurch when he gets a gig playing on U2's tour of the Vatican City. .. It would be a short tour, but a picturesque one. And you would be certain to pull a crowd. ahh.. Too funny.

So that's it. The update. Let's hope someone reads it.

Well a random googling of my own band name has revealed that Obscuresound.com, a US music blog that favourably reviewed our EP in April, have charted us amongst their favourite releases for April 2007. We appeared at number 13 in the list, with the opener from our EP, 'When your years are all returned'.. Hey. It's something!
Keep your ears open on community radio around the country. Rumours are filtering back that we are currently getting a spin on RRR and PBS in Melbourne, and other community broadcasters around the nation are soon to join in the fun. Keep yours ears to the ground, or at least close to a speaker, and be in touch.

As I settle into the anniversary of Jesus' first day alone, bloodied and dead in a cave, I can't bring myself to reflect on his suffering as much as I can begin to slightly panic at the thought of the EP launch.
If you're reading this, you deserve the scoop on why i'm slightly worried. Damo, ex-bass player, newest rhythm guitarist punk music has seen, has clearly left us. It was an amicable break up, and he even stated that punk music was where his heart is, which one must respect, even though one may not comprehend it. Andy Williams is our own personal Jesus in that respect, though I have a feeling he wouldn't take any nails, thorny crowns or spears to the gut for the cause. A minor detail. Andy is fantastic, and knows the songs better than me now, so that's pretty cool.
Vinnie has jumped in and will be playing keys on the night in question, so we're all very excited about that. In order to accomodate these two expert members of the group, Sewelly and I are trying to play better and in time, and it's challenging for both parties, but we're trying our best and we think people should respect that.
Anyway, blogging is sucking the life out of me. Just thought I would update youse all.
See you at the launch.
James

Well exams are over and now the EP can be concentrated on. Strange opening sentence for one's first blog entry, but I think blogging can handle such things. It's blogging. What's it for? No one reads it anyway.
Vocal harmonies are being pelted at the recordings left, right and perhaps even centre, so exciting times are being had by all, except those delivering the harmonies themselves, who have to put up with this song writer's strange ideas of what producing entails. Tobias Cummings dropped some shit (can I say that if i'm not a hiphop artist) on When Your Years, and you can hear the version before he came along on this very page, until of course we replace it with the better Tobes-induced mix.
Ed from Amy's Theory also has thrown in his two cents worth of harmonizing, and Jane of Great Fire of London and Rastus fame has made her own contribution. So it's all go. Now we just need to play some gigs, then die in the arse. Or maybe literally die, and hope the tragedy will launch the EP itself. God himself knows it's going to be hard enough to organise an actual launch.
So stay tuned. You might even learn something. About us. Which you don't necessarily want to learn.
James
P.S A lack of fem-teen support sees us ranked 1200th on JJJ unearthed. Why not vote and send us soaring up into the 900s?
