The final Acoustic Soul Club CD launch gig is taking place at St Anne’s Castle, Great Leighs on Saturday 22nd March

To date we have raised over £1,400 for the Essex Air Ambulance and really want to increase this as much as possible on Saturday.

Along with great music from Io, Ease Springs, Andy McClaine, Lyz le Fay and John T, we will also be entertained by our compere Anver Anderson of Saint FM.   There will also be a raffle with prizes of CDs, bottles of wine, chocolates & a limited edition poster, one of only 4 created, signed by all of the artists involved with this CD & designed by Mark Hughes.

Please come & join us for a great night’s entertainment all in aid of a very worthy local charity.

Well - what can I say?  The first night of the Acoustic Soul Club was a resounding success.  The lights were low; the mood was mellow, with a gentle air of expectation as the evening got underway.

With no apologies at all for a touch of nepotism, Jamie Williams got the evening going with a set including a few songs off his CD 'This Is Me', some newer songs and a couple of rousing covers giving the swelling audience a hint of the gems to come.  Mixing blues & ballads to a fine degree it was a first class start to the evening.

Next up was Lyz Le Fey and her band (John Cresswell on guitar and mandolin & Martyn Hawley on fretless bass) for some of the most spine tingling beautiful numbers sung as only Lyz can, weaving a mystical spell over the audience - the band perfectly complementing the atmospheric and deeply meaningful & melodic songs.

Laura Younger then took to the stage & mesmerized the audience with her lovely songs & glorious voice.  With her nifty guitar she commands the stage as a seasoned professional belying her mere 17 years of age.  If Laura doesnt have a big future before her, then there is no justice.  She promises that her long awaited CD will be ready within the next few weeks.

For a touch of something a little different we managed to prevail upon John Tucker to get out his acoustic bass and play a couple of classic rock numbers in his own inimitable style.  For anyone who has not seen John perform solo with his bass, it is a real treat.

Last, but by no means least Ross & Jon of Travellor brought the evening to a close.  These guys have harmonies to die for with their guitars interplaying superbly through a stunning set of originals & covers they really are a top class act heading for a bright future.  To end the evening Ross & Jon managed to get first Laura then Lyz followed by Jamie to join them on a rousing finale.

Special thanks to all our artists, who made the night such a success, not forgetting John Tucker for twiddling the knobs & making everyone sound so good & of course to Dave & Pat for their never failing encouragement & support of the local music scene.  Last of all a huge thank you to the very enthusiastic & appreciative audience without whom there would be no Acoustic Soul Club

Hopefully we'll see many people back next month bringing friends  - please spread the word!
