Hi!

Just a note to say I've posted 2 songs from my upcoming album that will be produced by Stephen Fearing - I'm very excited about it!
It'll be released sometime in 2008.

I also posted a demo that I sang a while back called "How Do You Want To Be Remembered"; it's a little different than what I usually sing; I like the song's message and it's production. It's by the group B*Boss (http://myspace.com/deathtobboss)

I've left the other tunes up still fer your listening pleasure

Thanks for listening; hope you enjoy!

Cheers,

Suzie

We landed yesterday at 1pm or so, took 2 hours to get from the airport to our downtown hotel, the Argyle Ryden International Hotel. Chilled for a little bit, ate dinner, then headed off to the official press conference at the 4-Live Club, downtown Shanghail, where all the bands will be playing tonight. Was great to meet a few of the other acts on the bill - Alun Piggun Band and the Jimmy Swift Band; the Roadhammers had just flown in and were on their way to the hotel. We'll meet them today I suspect.

Shanghai is HUGE! 25 million people. Lots of green, lots of buildings, downtown just seems to go on an on and on. Lots of honking, too...honking is a way of life when driving here, apparently. There are lots of folks on motor-scooters and bikes; when the sun comes out again Kim says we'll see even more folks out biking. It's warm and rainy, a little muggy.

I'm slowly getting into China time; body is a little weary and freaked out as my sched has been flipped upside down by 12 hours - it's 9:30 on Monday morning as I write this, but 9:40pm Sunday night in Toronto. It messes with my head a bit, I'll get over it soon I hope.

I've posted some pics from the first day here; nothing too crazy but a tiny taste. We'll be doing more site-seeing, so as internet access and time permits I'll post more!

Today we're off to the venue for a 2:30 soundcheck, we'll have dinner, then we gals will get to do our offical rockin' out! I'm looking forward to it!!

Take care,
Suzie

Hey there, I finally finished writing my New Orleans piece and hope to post it this week, I can't believe its taken me so long; I just have to sort out which pics to post. It's been very interesting revisiting my journal and reconstructing the reconstruction we did! Bringing up lots of memories and reminding me how much I want to go back down there to help some more.  Karen Flanagan McCarthy is going to summarize my story for Folk Prints, the magazine of the OCFF (Ontario Council of Folk Festivals). If I don't get my piece up before I leave, then I'll post hers in the interim.

I met a bunch of folks who went to New Orleans in March to volunteer (yay Cam and all of you at Aylmer Baptist Church in Aylmer, Ontario) at a show I did this last Saturday night - it was so nice being able to share stories about our experiences, both happy and sad...

Things have been super-busy prepping for the trip to China and then my teaching stint at Hornby (Heaven) Island, BC. I'm hoping to write and take pics for the trip to China, as well. That'll be a whole other experience!

Thanks for visiting, and please check in again for the New Orleans story.

Take care,

Suzie

P.S. I've been revisiting the music of Supertramp, a favorite band of mine (Roger Hodgson was a big vocal influence for me - I used to sing along with a bunch of his songs as a teen...his sweet voice helped me learn to sing!!I also tried to learn the John Helliwell's saxophone parts back in the days when I played sax...singin' and saxin). It's so great to hear the music again.....thanks Roger and Supertramp!

In March of 2005 I got to spend some time in New Orleans and  enjoy its people, beauty, culture and of course the music!!  I was so sad when Katrina hit and have been wanting to do something for some time to help out. Seeing Spike Lee's documentary, When the Levees Broke - A Requiem In Four Parts - really made me realize how important it was to me to head down and do something.

So, after a bunch of research and saving of loot, I'm getting ready to head off to New Orleans on Saturday the 16th for a couple weeks with my feller, James. We're going to do a week of volunteer work with the www.StBernardProject.org folks helping to rebuild a house in Chalmette, LA (just outside New Orleans), then we're going to take a few days to chill out in New Orleans and hopefully Memphis (Sun Studios) and Cleveland (RnR Hall of Fame). Should be a good time, though I'm a little nervous about the construction work - we'll be going for 5 days fulltime. I haven't had a fulltime job in years!!

My plan is to document the trip with words 'n pics as best I can, so please check in for further postings.

Happy Holidays to you 'n yours!!
