WHAT THE FUCK?

Okay. Lets talk about SourGrapes for a little bit, huh?

1. I want to rant about how I hear a lot of people in the scene go on about how the zine world is dead, that there's not enough support and no one is interested in contributing. But I can tell you, we've gotten so MUCH support for the zine its unbelievable! Don't give up on your zine community! People out there really do care about what happens to our self-published literature and are willing and ready to support your projects.

If you are wanting to start a zine, DO IT (for you, for your community, for the betterment of those who read it) because not only are you helping out to continue a great movement but you're putting your ideas out there and changing shit.

2. We had a lot of trouble recently with printing. For awhile there it seemed like we would never be able to have the money or the access to print this awesome zine. But now that all our lives are getting back on track and (by the help of our friends) we've found some other great options for cheap printing. We can now get back on track and be able to print Sourgrapes.

3. I want to stress that Sourgrapes (no matter how fucking hard it seems sometimes- and anyone who has printed a widespread zine knows it can be difficult at times- SG is not going to die and will never die. As long as there are people our that who need SG as their zine, we will be there to bring your voice to the surface. This has not only been one of the BEST things I've been able to be apart of- but its one of fucking funnest. (even if funnest is not a word)

Lastly, I want to thank everyone whose been apart of creating this zine, by donations, word of mouth, or a simple letter that you've written to us telling us how you support our cause.

Now, onto the big shit.

SG is going under a revamp before this issue is released. We'll try our best to print out as many as possible (as our paychecks come and go) and try to keep the zine relatively free (50 cents at the most) As for those who have submitted:

We're separating the last zine into two. One of the reasons it was so hard to print was because there was TOO FUCKING MUCH tooo print. With the launch of our site and the great people we've met through this one- we've had LOADS more submissions sent our way (and because we're big in the heart department) we can hardly send them away. Yet, if you've donated- please don't be pissed off if your shit isn't in the zine. There's a lot of stuff we just DONT have room to print. We will try our best to print everything within our limit. But either way, we thank you loads and loads for submitting.

Once again, if you've emailed us over the course of the last couple of months- please realize our mail box has been overloaded with letters and emails everyday. I'm still sorting through them all and I'll try my best to get back to you as soon as possible.

The changes we plan to make are going to kick ass, no doubt. And we couldn't even be able to create this zine if it wasn't for the fucking awesome zine community and support you guys have shown us.

Thanks so much

SG ZINETEAM

(questions, bitches, comments? write us at sourgrapeszine@gmail.com and I promise to get back to you as soon as I can)

NEW SOURGRAPES UPDATE JOURNAL! ADD US TO YOUR LIVEJOURNALS!

As if we need it- We now have a livejournal. Created basically as a place for all four of us to keep you informed more often then we already do! Point is- I got super sick of always posting bulletins. Of course Im still going to do that, but I wanted there to be a place for our updates that werent SO important that they belonged here (like themes) but not so time consuming that I have to write a bulletin every 5 seconds.

Okay you got me, I just wanted to be apart of the distrokids community. (shame, shame) but really! This place WILL be updated loads and loads on whats going on with sourgrapes. So if you own a livejournal please feel free to add us and keep in touch! We love you- so love us back damnit!!!

Alright. Nighty night folks.

Category: Life
Issue one and hes already tuckered out. Pussy.

Alright kids, its July 8th and time for the creation of the July issue of SourGrapse. (Arent you so excited?)With alot of brain-racking we decided the best way to begin is to write about what you know. We know zines. What do you know?

Issue#1- Knowledge.

We want to know what you know. About life, food, freak accidents, and all that it includes. Tell us something we dont already know and write SourGrapes a line.

WRITERS: Bitch rants included, we want to know:

* Why your public education was a waste!

* Tell us your experiences, shit they never taught you in school and what lessons you've learned over the years.

* Your thoughts on free education and the governments hand in: religion, sexuality, and racism in the classrooms.

* Who you are: We want to know who you are, tell us about your world, life, and goals. The decisions you've made that have brought you here.

* EDUCATE THE US- Rant to us on Why American rhymes with stupid and fat. And SOLUTIONS to the decline.

* Religion- This ones probably a bad idea but were putting it out there anyhow: Christianity in foreign lands. 'The need for JC': Your thoughts on foreign country mission work.

* College percentages: Why the percentage of female undergrads is higher and your thoughts on the future generation workforce.

PHOTOGRAPHERS/ARTISTS: Send us what you got! We want photography of anything that makes you wonder. Show us what you know:

*People, Animals, Nature, Books, Bikes, Music, Food, Self Portaits, ect.

We want everything and anything this issue that you can pull out of your ass. Everyone can take a picture- so send us one!

What does knowledge mean to you? Art (no matter what kind) can bring you through some shitty time. Send us copys of art you've created which has helped you understand who you are.

Any questions? Good. If all goes smoothly (and you know it wont) we will have the zine out by Augest 8th. I'll post more information on how to get a copy of the zine (which will most likely be photo-copied for your convience- so get adobe-reader) If you'd like to be a part of the street team and help pass out/print out SourGrapes zine please contact us. For any more questions or comments write the myspace or our email.

SIDENOTES:
>>>>>> I want to remind all artists that intend to submit that you dont HAVE to submit your work on the theme. You can submit anything, anytime and we will consider it. If you have any questions on how to submit certain things feel free to write us on the subject.

>>>>>> I also wanted to mention something not stated in the "about me" section of the myspace page. If you submit to Sour Grapes we send you a free copy of the Zine to have and to hold forever and ever and your name (and site address if you'd like) will be listed on the contributors page in the zine. (Arent you so damn special?)

------------Once again to all contributors: A big thanks from the Sour Grapes team for making our little local zine what it is. Without your support we'd be nada.----------------------
