Truly amazing artist - a moving painting in sand over a light box. Bonus if you speak Ukranian.

Here's a link to an interview I did for News 13 on the new Cocoa City Hall - they didn't really use much of it though.

Current mood:  depressed
Category: Life
Well, my 62nd is past now and it was a difficult one. This entire week I went out each and every day to dinner, live music, and beer.  I'm really tired today.  The only thing is I celebrated alone most of the time.  In the past, and for my friend's birthdays I tried to instigate a party atmosphere but this time just didn't feel up to it.  And nobody was really there for me.  Oh, I did run into friends and acquaintances from time to time, and they did make me feel a little better, especially A. and A. -- thanks guys.

It seems to me that I am depressed more as I get older, and more alone. Up until my 55th I had great intimate relationships and had friends I could do things with. Now, I'm lucky if I can stumble into friends when I'm out and join the party. No one ever seems to want to do the things I like to do. It's really sad. Most of my friends are quite a bit younger than I am -- I just can't seem to find some my age that still want to get out and enjoy life like I do.

Well, enough of being maudlin -- here's what happened this week:

Monday started out slow -- I had dinner at Ossorio's and then listened to the first set of The Mark Hubrouck Trio there and then went to the boat while it was still light --  A nice quiet start. Tuesday I went to Dog 'N Bone early and there were some friends there so I stayed and partied a bit until the first set of The Matt Sams Band finished. There were a few free drinks involved and I splurged on Black Smith (Smithwick's and Guinness) -- at least it was dark went I went back to the boat. Wednesday I did the usual -- dinner at Murdocks and listened to the first set of Patti and Frank from Acoustic Alliance -- no friends there though I did bust A. getting me a gift certificate for my birthday.

Now for my actual birthday -- Thursday I had dinner at Banker's and listened to Stoney of Stoney and The House Rockers -- I also got a free beer from Jennifer, the bartender -- and left after the first set (pattern there). Nobody around. Friday it got a bit better as I had dinner at Norman's and A. and A. generally eat there on the same day. Slick Willie was playing, along with Caesar D. on Sax, and we had a bit of a party to chase my blues away. After they left I headed over to Murdock's to hear Acoustic Alliance play a set and then to Dog 'N Bone for New Gravity -- a band I don't know and won't review as I was sloshed by then. All in all a good night.

Saturday I used the gift certificate at Murdock's for dinner and listened to the first set of The Oldmen Brothers Band before calling it a night. Sunday I though would turn out different than it did. I did my usual brunch at Murdock's and then I went to Dog 'N Bone later for what I thought would be a quiet beer and getting online with my laptop. Not to be. Unbeknown to either myself or Molly (the bartender, who is as much the reason I stopped in as any - see my S.I.N. list blog entry) there was a dart tournament happening and quiet was not an operative word. I stayed anyway and LM came in and lifted my spirits a little. Then who would show up but A. and A. and things really got into gear for a party. There was even some risque stuff on the part of two of us (you who know me can guess who one of them was) before we finally broke up, it was still daylight but I was pretty partied out.

So, you see, the week was not an entire bust but I am still alone and didn't get the traditional intimate encounter guys usually get on their birthday. Women still elude me.

I had my final echocardiogram after my heart attack Thursday. The tech said it looked good - haven't heard from my cardiologist yet. That's good news for me as she said she didn't see any permanent damage as she was doing the echo.

I plan on re-commissioning the boat this Spring and moving back aboard when my apartment lease expires at the end of May. Now if only the economy would get better and prices come down I could Party Down! It'll be a struggle to come up with the money to get her hauled and bottom painted in addition to all the work on her I've been putting off.

Hopefully I'll be sailing the carribe again this Winter!

 - Fair Winds everybody!

This is my S.I.N. (Service Industry Night-fantasies) List - apologies to those I don't mention, just remember I am a certified "Dirty Old Man":

Sexiest Bartender in the Village:
Molly @ Dog 'N Bone - the body, the clothes, the tats - what else is there to say? Definitely Brevard BabyDolls Pin-Up quality (hint, hint, Misti). Also a great shoulder to cry on and generally good person.

Flirtiest (is that a word?) Server in the Village:
Holy @ Ossorios - She could crook her finger and I would follow that smile anywhere. I just melt in her presence.

(on left)
Friendliest Server in the Village:
Selina @ Ossorios - wether at work or at play a joy to be around. (Jessie -on the right- is at Bunky's in Cocoa Beach now)

Cutest Cook in the Village:
Joy @ Ossorios - Can't decide if shes an angel, a goddess or a pixie, she definitely has a non-mortal aura around her and she's someone you just would love to protect and worship - Tantra anyone?

Cuddliest Bartender in the Village:
Maggie @ Club 401 Taven - I'm a big teddy bear and I'd love to snuggle with her - she gives great hugs and kisses.

Note to the Murdocks ladies - you had several places on my list in the past and still have your share of cuddlers and cuties but not at the top level - Sorry.

Note to the Normans ladies - I've had withdrawal symptoms since and Cara and Brenna left, I'll have to check you guys out more closely.

I haven't really checked out the Ultra Lounge ladies though I've heard that Misti might be there but I haven't seen her (working) since she left D 'N B - she's definately on my list as:

Most Beautiful in the Village:
Misti Blu Day - an other-worldly beauty that you can't stop staring at, and she's a great photographer of beauty too. I remember her photos of Tracey and was spellbound by them - miss seeing Tracey around. Great Calendar Misti.

There it is - my S.I.N. List - Love 'Em All!

The party at Nolan's was great! Several of my friends showed up and we had a blast! The Irish Stew was good and the Guinness was pored correctly, which I can't say for all the venues I frequent. There was a ongoing raffle happening and I got some swag including a $25 Gift Certificate for the Conch Key Grille & Tiki Bar, which is right on the water.

They also had a trivia contest but I was so wasted I don't know if I won anything or not even though I answered about half the questions. I think I did as I got a lot of swag. I only paid for one Guinness the whole time but I had several - let's hear it for Birthdays at a Pub! They put a leprechauns hat on me and other stuff too. Don't think anybody remembered to bring a camera though.

I got a couple of B-Day presents (besides free beer) from my friends. I especially liked the bottle of red wine - it's supposed to be good for your heart - and it was from L. who I love mucho. I gave her her B-Day present too since it's on the 3rd (we're both Leos) and I think she liked it - a massage, not by me unfortunately, but by a professional. If I can't touch her body myself at least I know that she'll enjoy the massage.

There were a group of cute Irish Dancers that performed (think Riverdance girls) and they had me up with them dancing for a couple of seconds. They were really good and I stunk - wasted I was. I think everyone had a good time, I sure did!

I had lunch at Hooter's before heading to Nolans in the PM and got to be a dirty old man for a while watching the cute young things in skimpy uniforms and ate a big burger with their curly fries - don't tell my doctor. After Nolans my friends drove me back to Cocoa and I had a steak at Normans, which I'm also not supposed to have. Nice you can break the rules on your Birthday. After that I went to Ultra Lounge and Kenny bought me a beer. I stayed for awhile to listen to him play and Dennis (sax) showed up and joined in. I left early and staggered home. All in all an awesome B-Day.

Since I don't "do" birthday parties I've just planned out the day (Wednesday, July 30) to maximize fun. I'll start, as usual, at Ossorio's (a coffee house/wood-fired oven cafe) in Cocoa Village for an herbal tea and chat with my boating buddies and use their Wi-Fi to do my e-mail. Then I'll walk back home to have lunch - can't afford to spend too much on restaurant food since I now have rent to pay.

After lunch I'll take a bus to Cocoa Beach and have a pint or two at a Grand Opening of an Irish Pub around 2 PM (Nolan's - 1 mile North of 520 on A1A at Cornerstone Plaza (Publix)) with live Irish music, prizes and giveaways for a few hours. Then I'll take the bus back to Cocoa and have a seafood dinner at Norman's Raw Bar and Grill (corner of Forest and 520) about 6:30. I'm sure I'll tip a few there too. I'll end up at The Ultra Lounge (in the Village at 407 Brevard Ave.) at 8 for one of my favorite live music experiences - Josh Miller (one of the best blues men in Florida), Kenny Clarke (voted the best keyboard player in Brevard county in 2007 at the Brevard Music Awards) and Tom on drums. I'll probably leave for home after a couple of hours, and beers. That's my plans anyway. If you're in the area come by and say hi (and maybe buy me a beer [Grin]).

I've added my Events Calendar to my MySpace Calendar on my Profile so I won't be posting a blog with local Cocoa events seperately. Party down and Support Live Music locally! Enjoy!
