TONIGHT
(October 12, 2009),
I know I will be smiling a lot.
Because I will be at the Steve Allen Theater in Hollywood,
enjoying the wonderful music and subtle humor of
WILL RYAN and his CACTUS COUNTY COWBOYS.
Will's oringal songs are very sweet and clever,
his musician are amazing (and amusing),
and he surrounds himself with other great talent.
Do WATCH THE VIDEO and join me tonight if you can.
I apologize for the late notice.
Johnny

Reissue Delayed Until Late July

The CD reissue of SWEEPIN' THE CLOUDS AWAY has been delayed, again, until late July.
However, downloads should be available very soon at CDBaby, followed by iTunes and Amazon.

As soon as we can be specific about dates there will be a bulletin, and this blog will be updated.

I am much happier with the new master, having fixed many small things that had bugged me about the original CD.

Another improvement was the removal of a weak track, and changing the placement of a few others.
The reissue will come in a deluxe digipak with an 8-page insert that we are still refining.

Then I will be able to focus on promotional efforts, a performance schedule and the next CD.

Thank you so much for your sweet comments!

I hope we meet down the road.

Happy 4th of July!

The Rifleman at LocateTV.com

On Sept 30, 2008, THE RIFLEMAN was honored, on it's 50th Anniversary,
with a 24-hour Marathon on the Encore Western Channel.

Now featured on World Harvest Television, THE RIFLEMAN can be seen every weekday with DIRECT TV Satellite Service.

Here is one of several wonderful video tributes to THE RIFLEMAN.
This one is by Livvie, with thanks to Cowgirl Margie (RiflemanConnors.com).

I had a lovely time in Danville this summer while appearing in "Morning's At Seven" for Pioneer Playhouse, a Kentucky landmark celebrating its 59th season.

People were very warm (especially during the day). We had a wonderful cast, and I enjoyed being able to work my guitar and a couple of old songs into the 1939 Paul Osborn play.

In addition to that, trumpet legend Vince DiMartino, currently a professor of music at Danville's Centre College, had lined me up with eight remarkable musicians, with whom I gave a concert of vintage dance music that was a big hit at Pioneer Playhouse on June 29.

I am most grateful to John Dixon for his very kind "letter to the editor" which appeared in the local Danville paper on July 8. Because it was so insightful, informative and flattering, it now appears here:

The Advocate-Messenger, Danville, Kentucky
Letter: Hopes For Encore Performance
Dear Editor,
Kudos to the Hensons of Pioneer Playhouse for featuring Johnny Crawford.
Experiencing his impressive range as an entertainer was a delight.
Many of us will always admire him for his Emmy-nominated role of Mark McCain (in The Rifleman)... From his days as a Mouseketeer and teen vocalist, we know that Johnny's original passion was music, and it clearly remains so. It was evident to those of us who enjoyed the local performance of his vintage dance band that he's become a true preservationist in the same spirit as Kentucky's brass band re-enactors. As Johnny Crawford continues to salvage lost orchestrations and discarded arrangements of popular dance tunes from the 1920s and 1930s, I hope he's invited back to Danville for an encore.
