Current mood:  tired
This past weekend was great. I did my thing for a great group of jr. high kids for most of the weekend. Then I finally ended up in Memphis for the New Daisy show. It's hard to describe how significant this show was for me. I had always hoped to perform a big show in front of my parents. Also, Mutemath is a band I've always respected and probably is my favorite band out there, if I'm honest. The only thing that would have made the night even more perfect would have been if Club of the Sons had been there. Anyway, here is a video clip from that night.
And here are the rest. Click the links to watch it.

It's QE; did you miss the EP release party this weekend?

Well, I have set up a link on paypal for anyone who wants to purchase the Machismo EP and was not able to make it; whether you were out of town or just didn't get to pick one up.

You can do that by going to quietentertainer.com
You will see on the right, a picture of the Machismo EP, plus a button that says "Add to Cart"

put how many you want; and then
proceed to checkout.

I use paypal which I have used for years now; it's totally safe. You don't have to have a paypal account to use it. You will need a credit card though if you are buying this online. Trust me though; it's safe. I have never had a problem.

Make sure you give me your address and also your email address so I can put you in my mailing list. Once you purchase it; I will ship it right to you. :-)

ALSO, for the sake of 'BLOGWORTHY' which is an idea I've been pushing for a while; I ask that everyone who buys and hears this EP will Blog about it! Please give a blog or a facebook note with your thoughts on the EP! favorite songs? etc? And please link back to quietentertainer.com

Thanks so much; I can't wait to hear what you all think.

May 9, 2009 - Saturday
On Saturday night; I'm finally going to give you all some music on a physical release.

I'm really excited about the Machismo project. It's a collection of some tracks I've done with some of my favorite emcees. Let me tell you a bit about it:

1. False Alarm -
One night I went to Fuel and my friend Chip Greene and I were flirting with the bartender, who may or may not have been this girl. Anyway, he was telling her that my music was like Blue Man Group except that you should call me Black Man Group. I thought it was hilarious. I came home and made this song.

2. I Am...(featuring James Fate)-
I knew I wanted a theme song. And James Fate is one of the best emcees I've heard in town. Really all of the guys on this release are among the best. But I knew that Fate would do a great job with it and he did. One of my favorite tracks for obvious reasons. I got the idea for the beat after watching Paper Route perform.

3. Audition (featuring WT the Musical Mastermind) -
One of the earlier songs on the album. I was hanging out with a local producer who was just making beats with such ease. I was really inspired. A lot of it was the producer's ability and some of it was that I really hated that I wasn't doing much with my life at the time. Anyway, I came home and did that beat. WT is probably the main guy that got me into music. We were in a group together in college. I knew I wanted him to be on a track. This track was a good fit.

4. Machismo -
Was messing around on a sampler, running different sounds through and I heard the beginnings of this song. I just built around that idea.

5. Still Single remix (featuring Spoken Nerd) -
Spoken Nerd is fantastic. Not sure how many of you have heard the original Still Single track, but whatever I was feeling at that time; Nerd took that and put that on steroids and speed. So much fun. I hope this song is one of your favorites.

6. Wildfire (featuring J. Prodigal)-
J. Prodigal had been waiting to get on a track for a long time. I really like the beat. One of the few times I used an outside source sample. But I'm not telling. ;-)

7. Our Time (featuring E.T.) -
E.T. should be touring the country and making millions, but I'm glad he's in Nashville and so ready and willing to work with people. He had been saying I should come over to his studio and do things for about a year or so before I finally went over there. I did this track while a lot of these other guys were too working on another track.

8. BlogWorthy (featuring J. Prodigal, WT, E.T., Spoken Nerd, Bobby
Exodus, Iller, James Fate, & 247) -
I wanted an all-star track with all these guys on it. I was especially excited to finally get Bobby on a track as I have yet to do a full length track with him. But the hook was an idea I got from listening to some west coast emcees and I finally got to use the vocoder stuff (You hear it also in Wildfire). Surely you know about BlogWorthy by now, right?

Anyway, I'm having a CD release show on Saturday, May 9. It's at Cafe Coco and we will perform these songs lives and have some more surprises. The show also features WT, Spy Machine, & Get Got. $5 cover!

Hope to see you. I will have details on how you can get this online soon.
February 15, 2009 - Sunday
I had an event last year that I called BlogWorthy. A celebration and an idea of how to get people excited about a music scene.

You can read my explanation of it all here.

So now, in addition to that; I host a monthly showcase at Cafe Coco. It will be the 3rd Friday of every month. I am hoping to highlight really good or clever artists/bands that I like and/or I want to have a sort of genre fusion. Whether that's artists that incorporate many different styles into their music or putting lots of different kinds of artists on the bill.

You can go see who's playing the BlogWorthy shows by going to myspace.com/blogworthynashville

And if you see one of these shows; post a blog or facebook note about it!

See you soon,
QE

I'm so tired!

I must be out of shape. This was my first show I've done since September. It's been unusual for me to have that much time off. But I'm so glad I got back in the mix.

DJ Orig started it off; he was fantastic. Absolutely one of my favorites. Everything he does is just so much fun. Lots of cuts and blends. I was highly impressed as always.. Make sure you check him out. myspace.com/origthedj

Bobby Exodus came on; I guess we are seeing the NEW Bobby. He did mostly new material and a lot of beats that he produced himself. So he is making a lot of progress. and Bobby always pours his heart out on stage. Check him at myspace.com/bobbyexodus

I was next...I decided to wear a tuxedo as I performed to signify the special occasion. I did some new and some familiar. I had fun with it. I got James Fate to perform 'I Am...." with me and also E.T. to perform "Our Time." These guys are great. I announced at the show that those tracks would be on my upcoming release. I am aiming for this spring for it to be ready. But it depends on money and timing and so on. But check out James Fate & E.T. online.

Next was Spoken Nerd. And I will have to admit; this was highlight of the show. This time he had a live band. And that band killed it! Seriously. Sure I was in the band; but even I didn't expect it to be so wonderful. Spoken Nerd has taken it to another level. I hope you're all paying attention.

Ecid from Minneapolis was next. Ecid's skill on the mic was evident immediately and the beats were super hot.

Qwel from Chicago came on; and he played my favorite song first. So that was cool. He can rhyme so fast and he says a lot so you really have to pay attention to catch everything. He did a spoken word piece that was so lyric heavy that I honestly think it fried my brain. haha. He was sensational. Sadly he dared to talk smack about the Titans (his Bears were playing us today; which at the time of this blog, had just lost to the Titans 21-14. I guess the Bears ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!).

The show was put on by the Holla

and myself. My concept is BLOGWORTHY

Anyway, don't miss out on all the music and good times!

I want you all to know about the Quiet Entertainer PREMIER PASS. If you have it, it is good for admission to 10 specified Quiet Entertainer shows.
Take a look at quietentertainer. com or my myspace
http://www. myspace. com/quietentertainer

I want this to be a special item for people who like to see the shows I've been doing. Also, it's a collector's item. Each one will be numbered and assigned to you personally. So, if you buy one; don't let anyone borrow it.
This is your PREMIER PASS!

When you buy the PREMIER PASS, you'll provide me with your name and email address. Each time you come to a specified Q.E. show; you must have your pass present in order to use it. Then, each show used will be subtracted from the PREMIER PASS until you run out. At the time, you can either renew or keep the pass as a collector's item or souvenir.

By specified show; I mean that only certain shows are PREMIER PASS eligible. For instance, you can't use it at a free show. And why would you? Also, there are some shows where I can't get you in. So I will list on my myspace which shows are "pass eligible" or you can email or contact me about it.

Let me know if you have any questions about the PREMIER PASS or the SEASON PASS (worth 5 Q.E. shows). I hope you'e excited about having one of these! I'm very grateful for all of you who come to the Q.E. shows; you are the ones who come out and make the shows special.

If you have a credit card; you can still use it to purchase. Just click 'Add to Cart' then Check Out; then fill out the info; and that will do it! Let me put your mind at ease. I use paypal all the time and I've never had ANY problems with it. It's super easy.

You can get the PREMIER PASS for just $40 and the Quiet Entertainer SEASON PASS (good for 5 Quiet Entertainer shows) for $20.
