I know, it's been quiet around Radius these days.
The Radius project has been put to rest for a while, as I was too busy with other things.
Meanwhile I started working on it again.
You will see the result of that in the shops in some months.
I can already reveal that I'm going in a slightly different direction,
but no need to panic. The concept will stay the same in essence.
So hang in there and thanks for all of your comments and mails.

This has been the case for a while now, but we would still like to point out that a lot of music from our Radius catalogue
is available digitally in the major digital stores. Although some stores may have a bit more older releases than others.
You can find our music on: juno http://www.junodownload.com , beatport https://www.beatport.com , itunes http://www.apple.com/nl/itunes/download , dj download http://www.djdownload.com , xpressbeats http://www.xpressbeats.com , trackitdown http://www.trackitdown.net, wordandsound http://www.wordandsound.de , and a few others.  On the Radius myspace you can prelisten to some tracks on our beatport player to get a taste of the music.

Info:

Radius's 20th release comes with 3 boogie-friendly cuts with deep New York disco influences, delivered by Italian duo Supersonic Lovers. That's Luca 'DJ Rocca' Roccatagliati, known for his Ajello project, and Marcello Giordani, who released on Players Paradise and Mule Musiq. If you like to boogie on funky analogue basslines and gently house your body on deep intoxicating grooves, this may be the perfect Radius cut for you. The Supersonic Lovers cooked a tasty dancefloor dish, tastefully blending deep house flavours and disco funk spices. Fans of Metro Area, Idjut Boyz and Mudd will surely like this! 'Nero Boogie' could be described as an electric funk work out on a house trip and 'Driving On Broadway' has a smooth NY disco flavour. 'Summer Sweat' leans a bit more towards italo disco, but the sweet rhodes chords give it a laidback daydream disco feel. Delightfully sweet 'Boogie Nights' disco!!

Tracklisting:
A. SUMMER SWEAT
B1. NERO BOOGIE
B2. DRIVING ON BROADWAY

Info:

Ajello, an Italian duo - Luca 'DJ Rocca' Roccatagliati & Fabrizio 'Taver' Tavernelli - with solid releases on Relish and an album on Mantra Vibes, delivers a four-track ep for Radius at the crossroads of italo and deep disco. The title track Magic Feet will make your feet move as if they were under a magic spell. A disco spell! Deep disco house with a smooth italo synth infusion to keep you going all night. Music Hall then tempts us in a darker disco atmosphere. The perfect soundtrack to a disco party in some 80's italo exploitation sci-fi flick. If you're looking for a funky work out with plenty of mystery going on, Cosmogony would be it. The track springs from a collaboration of Ajello and the true italo cosmic pioneer Daniele Baldelli, known for his recent releases on Gomma. If cosmogony is the theory of creation of all things, then Ajello and Daniele Baldelli would be the groovy funkateers on a mystic quest to proclaim the Holy Disco Message! Fourth track on the ep is another example of a slick blend of disco and deeper influences. Living with Passion slightly transpires motorcity deepness and electro robot funk all disco-ed up for the dancefloor. This is a keeper!

Feedback:

Miss Kittin: in my chart this month!
The Hacker: cool 12", i like it!
John Selway: solid release, good melodies and arrangements. for sure "Magic Feet" is the strongest and most useful for me!
Serge (clone): Ajello is nice! I play Music Hall.
Rob n Zoopsie: nice smooth italo disco mood , disco feet is our prefered one, which work hard on the dancefloor!
Graham Best (resident fabric london): Loving the B-side on this one!
DJ Morpheus: like it all esp. the d.b rmx!
Diskokaine: i always loved ajello. MAGIC FEET is my favourite!

IDJ mag review:

AJELLO
MAGIC FEET
Radius (Bel), RAD 019
Inside Italian duo Ajello's brains you'll find Patrick Cowley, I-F, Goblin and Alexander Robotnick making very sweet music together at some great big gay disco. Set in space. In 1981. 'Magic Feet' comes bloody close to encapsulating their electro erotico dreams, and as such is magnificently slick stuff. 'Music Hall' has an air of mystery and drama to it, like something Crème Organisation would release, and 'Living With Passion' is Roman funk at its finest. The disco heads should check it out for 'Cosmogony'; a tense dancefloor moment produced in collaboration with Italian originator Daniele Baldelli.

Best of Superradio part 4

Radius continues its Superradio series with one of the deeper but bigger tracks from the Superradio catalogue. Every self-respecting disco dj has hammered this gem for years. 'Catch' by Sun La Shan. The best way to describe this track is to picture yourself Visage and Moroder working out together in a gym staring at a Blondie poster. 'Catch' is most definitely a seminal piece of work combining disco and new wave in a sexy and sleazy Molotov cocktail. The ep comes with a stripped down dub version and a Disco Devil remix. Also hailing from Gent, Belgium, where Radius is based, Disco Devil stayed quite close to the original vibe with minimal synth efficiency and equally sleazy vocals. Catch is sexy!

Release date: 19-11-2007

Tracklisting:

A1. VOCAL VERSION
A2. DUB VERSION
B. DISCO DEVIL REMIX

Feedback:

The Hacker: 9/10 i love this track, and the remix is very good !
Diepvries (flexx): surely one of the best italo-electro tracks EVER. original is the one for me!
John Selway: Great! of course the original "Catch" is untouchable, and this pressing sounds really great. The Disco Devil remix is solid and very good, it maintains the spirit of the original pretty well and will cross over to DJs that don't want to play the old stuff - but for me the original always wins!
Rob'n' Zoopsie (The Revolving Eyes, Moderne rec.): Nice to see 'catch' repressed more than 20 years after; surely one of the best italo song produced at that time! hats off, catch is sexy of course!
Jeroen TLR: hot reissue! its "catch" so this will work guaranteed!
Neil Thornton: disco devils keep up the good work with a very good version. very catchy and works well on the dancefloor. so once again a big thumbs up !!
DJ Humus: 8/10 the "disco devil" works the best in a set for me with the straight beat
Alexis le-tan: the og is a classic, one of the best italo's ever!!!
DJ Morpheus: i like this one esp. the disko devil rmx track

iDJ mag review by Jason Riley:
SUN LA SHAN
CATCH
Radius (Bel), RAD 018
More Superradio Italo-disco magic unearthed and reworked by Spacid and the Radius crew. This was originally released in 1982 and more recently appeared on Gianluca Pandullo's 'I-Robots' collection. A heavily android, overtly electronic track, it's not hard to see how tracks like this proved so influential on Serge, I-F, Alden Tyrell and the like. The dub version's included here, as is a new Disco Devil Mix. Stick with the originals, if you ask me.

Best of Superradio part 3

Radius unleashes part 3 of its "Best of Superradio" series treating us with yet another timeless classic. 'Fuerza Major' by Camaro's Gang, one of the more edgy italo disco groups, is one of those tracks that effortlessly show us how those mad Italians went on to influence 80's pop music for years to come. 'Fuerza Major' has all the essential elements, typical vintage bassline, cheesy pop melodies, catchy and vague "I met this girl in a New York discotheque" vocals straight from a melancholic heart. It's simply joyfull nostalgia from 1985. As to the remix, Tensnake, who already released a brilliant ep on Radius, did the honours and gave 'Fuerza Major' a deeper disco vibe with plenty of his own funky twists and turns. Radius set off once again to make you shake your hips to the past of the future!

Tracklisting:

A1. ORIGINAL
A2. 1985 REMIX
B. TENSNAKE REMIX

You can prelisten the tracks @:

Release date: 05-11-2007

Feedback:

John Selway: Normally I always choose the originals but in this case, "Fuerza Major" is not one of my favorite Superradio tracks. The Tensnake Remix is a cool and sophisticated groove, it reminds of the original elements and uses the vocals really effectively, and definitely is more fresh. Gonna play it at my next electro/disco gigs in NYC this month for sure!
Chris Duckenfield (Swag): Love the Tensnake mix - playing and supporting - Thanks !!
Diepvries (flexx): the original was the first italo record i fell in love with. big one for me!
Rob'n' Zoopsie (The Revolving Eyes, Moderne rec.): love the tensnake rmx, he is one of the 'new' young producers who certainly bring a new well appreciated vibe to the dancefloor! an artist to follow....
Steffi (klakson): already a well known one track ofcourse :-)
a good release for the dance floor!!!!
Steve Kotey: tensnake remix all day please!
DJ Morpheus: on the radio tonight... will play it out next friday in paris. prefer the 85 &tensnake rmxs

Best of Superradio part 2

Whether you're a seasoned italo freak or an avid newcomer, Barry Mason's classic italo hit Body Get Your Body will have you grooving in no time.
The acidic bassline starts the dance and will "get your body" venturing on the dancefloor.
The funky piano riffs will make you disco feet itch and before you know it, this timeless disco classic with its most simple but effective vocals,
will get your body as the title so strikingly suggest. This time one of UK's finest disco outfits Faze Action answered the remix call.
Their take on the track resulted in a dance floor disco house treatment, bringing it up to 2007 cruising speed but all the same staying true to the original 1983 vibe.
You'd better get your body ready!

Tracklisting:

A1. DISCO MIX
A2. BODY MIX
B. FAZE ACTION EDIT

perfect for special parties, secret gigs or home listening.
Lindstrom: i like the 2nd track (body mix) the disco nr with the disco piano :)
Steve Kotey (chicken lips): love this, more please!
John Selway: It's really great to have a nice clean and remastered copy of the original, it sounds very good. quality work and I'm sure it will cross over well with DJs that don't play so much of the old original stuff!
Graham Best (resident Fabric): 10/10 Another banger – nice one!
Neil Thornton: Faze action has come up with one of the most catchy remixes this year. the response to this track when playing out has been unbelievable ! and the reaction on the dancefloor when the vocals come in has to be seen. full props!
DJ Morpheus: excellent! like it a lot esp. the mighty faze action mix !
Diepvries (flexx): i love the original. the faze action is quite effective, it works the dancefloor

--> Converted from text/plain format -->
Belgium's very own Guiseppe Manuele signs the Radius 015 with 4 brilliantly crafted disco tracks with enough 80's funkiness to make you shake your booty and lose yourself in vintage synth madness. 'Are You Down' brings you back to a time when people didn't just do the 'the Hussle' but lived to feel the disco funk run through their veins and dictate every move on the dancefloor.
The funky bassline and spaceship disco grooves would even have George Clinton move his butt. And to build up the tension, there's even a beatless version, the perfect tease.'Erotico' and 'The Prince His Lover and Her Red Shoes' take us dawn to an italo disco path plenty of sexual tension and intense hip shaking, somewhere in a crowded 1983 disco in Rimini...

Tracklisting:

A1 ARE YOU DOWN
A2 ARE YOU DOWN (ACAPELLA)
B1 EROTICO
B2 THE PRINCE HIS LOVER AND HER RED SHOES

Patrick Pulsinger: extremly funky and will fit well in my set.
mixes good with electro stuff. ***
Diskokaine: 10/10 ITS PARLIAMENT meets KANO.....simply MAGICAL!
DJ Humus (Pitsui - Tel-aviv/Berlin): very nice old school funk with a italo flavour. love it!
DJ Morpheus: like it !... cool italo disko, old school funky stuff
Diepvries (flexx records): Erotico is the one for me, very nice vintage sound!
Serge (Clone): Nice release... sound so retro!
Artur Korycinski : 9/10 one of the best radius records so far, going into a a very fresh direction !!!

GROOVE MAGAZINE REVIEW:
Guiseppe Manuele – Are You Down – Radius 015/News

IDJ MAG REVIEW:
GUISEPPE MANUELE
ARE YOU DOWN
Radius (Bel), RAD 015
The lead track's like a sweet cocktail of Italo and black Eighties funk featuring some geezer who sounds remarkably like Snax on vocals. It's difficult not to like, and I'd put good money on this Guiseppe fellow having more than a few D-Train records lurking in his collection. There's even a stripped-down, bass-less acapella version for the full Prelude effect. On the flip, 'Erotico' is the sort of electro (it goes plinky-plonky up there and dugga-dugga down there) that Radius and Clone do like no-one else, and 'The Prince His Lover And Her Red Shoes', which brings to mind Kavinsky gone P-funk, is as cool as its title suggests. Am I down? No diggedy.

Tensnake,  Labelowner of Mirau Musik and already responsible for the underground 2006 italo hit "Around the House", joins the ranks of Radius Records with a brilliant four-tracker.
The ep opens the dance with 'Hanselstadt', a funked up space disco opera breathing pure romantic eroticism. 'Seconds of Gwernd' could very well be a disco take on the 2008 Blade Runner soundtrack, with its fat bassline, spacy lead sounds culminating into a robotic orgy of dancing riffs and layers of deep strings. Slowing down the pace, 'Show Me' gets us all nostalgic about this groovy vintage early 80's sound. A future classic with a touch of pop, a pinch of 80's funk and some italo disco spices. This one goes way deep! 'White Dog' could be described as afterhours disco. The kind of music you would hear just before sunrise, dancing while the first rays caress your cheeks. Tensnake perfectly delivers an ep where italo disco and deep house are french kissing on a crowded and sweaty dancefloor.

Tracklisting:

A1 Hanselstadt 6:36
A2 Seconds Of Gwernd 4:46
B1 Show Me 4:53
B2 White Dog 5:41

Radius Records takes you on a unique trip back into disco history and brings an ode to Italy's legendary Superradio label with a double lp showcasing one of the most influential labels in italo disco history. Timeless pieces of music, completely remastered, with a nice Superradio collectors sleeve. The lp opens with two slick dj-friendly edits by label manager Spacid of Camaro's Gang Super Shuffle and Ali's Shuffle, classic poppy electro disco. Venise then adds a deep and romantic feel with Playboy and Playboy La Nuit, organ-like synthlines and girly vocals. Sun La Shan's Rose from Tokyo takes us into more space disco sounds with a playful dialogue between a vocoder and female vocals, followed by the almost forgotten Roissy by Venise, piano-driven italo disco with a neo-classical and cheesy touch, edited by Brooklyn's Matteo Ruzzon. Part 1 of the Superradio release ends with a funky disco track suitable for all clubs with mirrored disco-balls and illuminated dancefloors. This is the first in a series of five Superradio releases, three more ep's with remixes with more italo madness and an ep with new Superradio tracks will follow after this.
To be continued...
