Current mood:  bummed

We as pipeyard reluctantly have decided to (for now) call it quits. Not because we dont love our music and the INITIAL idea of why we do it. We have always said from the get go that its a "together we fall"  kinda thing...we are 4 wheels on a car...we feel to have PIPEYARD you need all 4 of us. And in recent months one of our wheels has disappeared. We are saddened by this but realize he is irreplaceable, as is the concept of what and why we were a collective.

He will be missed. The fierce songwriting we were embarking on was soo great- its a shame the world will never hear what we were creating in the final months...

But the recorded music lives on. Aaron has CDs if anyone ever desires to hear our CD again. Remember we were the 1st around here to have a concept album pressed, seemless in recording and played it live in its beauty, uncut as we recorded it. We didnt adhere to those who said "you need a hit song!" ...we didnt adhere to those who said "your too heavy" or "i like seahollies" ...we didnt care... we just liked making music together...after 3 years together (not including the 5 prior in the ill-fated seahollies...) Aaron-Teel and Tony with our brother Scotty J decided when the band was created... that we are 4 different, but like minded people who've just reached a certain level of songwriting communication. It was a decision that we preferred to write together...we truely thought alike, and could read each others musical minds sometimes...we were like a machine... we wrote with the idea that whatever we do is 1/4 and whatever we sound like is what the 4 of us sound like...we said "who cares if there isnt a catchy hook chorus, who cares if were too heavy, who cares if a song is 7 minutes or 3"...we just made what we decided was PIPEYARD music... with noble intent, no ambissions, and free collective thinking... we achieved this... like a machine we grinded, and like comrades - we connected ...

Along the way we met cool bands, traveled a bit, played to big crowds almost everytime...and liked what we did...we never said "hey we need a record deal"...we wouldnt have said no to an offer, but (unlike seahollies) we werent going to be pinned down by suit and tie people telling us we needed a chorus hook...fuck all that talk about "publishing this, and residuals that, and money for that and advance for that...we wanted a grass roots operation...that was OURS - we werent going to travel 8 hours on a gig swap to play some hole with some band that was no further than us for 100 bucks...that wasnt the point. If it happened - well maybe it was fate, but ultimately the love and comradery we shared was evident in good music. We didnt care about winning some award, we knew that our peers "knew" that we were worthy... sure we are competitive in nature, so to see what we saw was a small sliver in the foot, but we could easily move onward. Anyone who saw PIPEYARD could never dispute we were a tight band...and we "moved air" sonicly speaking...and our music was EVOLVED beyond what normal local metal dictated... we also never cared what neighbors were doing, we never actually thought about it as a competetion... we just wanted to be recognized before time rusted us away. Either way that is not the point of this bulleting/blog...

We lost one of our warriors and for that we cannot continue on...

And that being said, maybe someday he will find his way back home, and if not- our love for him and his contribution would never be disputed or diminished... it was an IMPORTANT step in our lives to have had the unit ...we had many laughs and many tears...but ultimately the laughs are what i personally will reminisce about... maybe we will create again, and if we do, we will with the same amount of integrity, emotion, and intensity we always have...

So goodbye loyal friends...we will see you on the other side

Thankyou

Current mood:  busy

Hey everyone.

Just an update...Youmay not see any shows on the calendar (UNTIL OUR RETURN JANUARY08) at sherlocks.

This is for 2 reasons: We have begun writing the material that is the NEW CD - we of course will have to play it out before we record, so the next 2 months is our time dedicated to writing and creating... It will SURELY be worth the wait... another concept album and we've taken it to new heights.

reason 2- Scotty J is on tour until the 1st of DEC with our friends DOPE and BobaFlexx , so if you see the tour pull him aside...and tell him you love what he does...the road is lonely and Scott would love the kudos.

So we are always at an easy reach if you want to correspond to us...so keep the flame alive, tell a friend that we are alive and well... the NEW PIPEYARD will re-invent itself for 2008.

MUCH LOVE
Aaron, Scott, Tony and Teel

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

After an amazing night of support, love and hugs we as PIPEYARD thank the many powers that be, and the many fans and friend that made it obvious they love and respect us and our collective vision.

We were nominated as best Metal Band, Best guitarist, drummer and OUR bass player Aaron Forsyth won the catagory.

It was an honor to be involved and treated so fairly and respectfully...we are humbled by the enormity of it all...and the overall vibe really unifies the musician community and makes us all respect everyone for who and what they are. We made alot of new friends, and saw alot of old friends... it was a great night and this is what its all about...unity, and respect, for everyone! We are truely thamkful for what we have and the many friends who support us.

Our hats go off to our bro's Waiting for Never (metal winners), Misery Bay...MASNOVA, Super No7, Hello Kitty Death Squad, Nerds, Money Shot, Jakes Blues ...the list is endless so we will say  EVERYONE ELSE, our new friends Hectic and tha Fam, Deny the Sun, Matty B and the Dirty Pickles...wow what a diverse and beautiful scene it is...

Thank you Erie and fellow Pipeyardigans

NEXT Year we are going for it.

Current mood:  satisfied

This Friday we opened for Drowning Pool and it was a great show. The crowd was in full capacity, and the vige of the room was great...we met alot of people who recognized us from the Godsmack show. BUT worthy of mention for sure was another GREAT throwdown from Waiting for Never as well as DP.

BUT we HAVE to mention... we have over the years opened for countless national acts who love to push thier weight and treat locals like we are disposable assets... BUT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE HERE.

DROWNING POOL and thier crew were COOL as heck...thier stage/tour  manager and crew treated us with smiles and respect and really were accomodating. We are glad to be affiliated with them and would and will play shows again sometime...they are great cats and we left feeling good. We cant thank them enough for being patient and understanding of us. Our crews meshed so well together...even in the chaos of a capacity sherlocks crowd...

so we say thank you sherlocks, Drowning Pool, and waiting for never... a good night was had by all...

cheers!

also noteworthy: Our drummer Tony was married saturday and we all were in the wedding, this was a joyous occassion and it solidifies our unity and thoughts and love for each other...this was a good weekend...this is why we are here. unity.

thanks to our hometown for supporting us on the Godsmack show last night ... we hope we didnt let anyone down. the sold out warner theatre was a beautiful sight from our point of view on stage, and we really are glad we have a good hometown that likes us. We were proud to say we're from erie, no shame at all... i hope we represented good enough for you...

Godsmack were cool cats for sure, and they were kind and courteous, and the crew treated us like equals so we thank everyone who was there, or there with us in spirit.

until next time...

cheers

okay so the CD is done..we jusy have to finish the art and go to press...the release date most likely is our NEXT local show May 12th - Sherlocks

But in the meantime there is the local awards thing happening around here. Like a grammys, or AMA type of thing... recognition for years of hard work? Lets hope... www.rockerie.com  is the site...we plastered our stuff up there (you can even download Oblivious to Oblivion MP3) , but we dont want to be douchebags and elect ourselves in...sooo thats where friends and fans come in...YOU! Just remember how many years and years the members of pipeyard (in various incarnations) have been doing this and been a driving force in the scene...food for thought.

But feel free to nominate when your at it PIPEYARD :

http://www.rockerie.com/jamroom/members/419/

VOTE BEST METAL BAND - or ROCK band for that matter

VOTE BEST guitar player - Teel

VOTE BEST bass player - Aaron Forsyth

VOTE BEST drummer - Tony Fosco

VOTE BEST vocalist - Scotty J

Or vote us your overall favorite... PLEASE...because what will happen if you dont vote ---then some unfamiliar yahoo/ crud band out of left field who has a thousand friends on computers.never plays a gig, and cant play thier way out of a paper bag, and have never been in the "trenches" ---actually wins the vote???????? Everyone will scratch thier heads going ? "WTF?" and that will annoy you when you see some unknown scrap act getting thier asses kissed...and for what? because you didnt make the vote you shouldve. Hmmm

so do it friends .... vote as much as you like and can...dont be afraid, just tell them the truth.

:)

cheers

Hey there everyone...

normally we wouldnt need to mention or say anything because we have been blessed with years of flawless, crud free shows. Well this saturday we finally lost the roll of the dice. It happens-its a numbers game...

In a nutshell the night was saved by our friends Half Raised Heathens and Ventana who threw down and really showed thier muscle...they are both great bands... But when it was our turn - we were plagued by what we in the industry call "technical difficulties" ... You see a wet electrical socket resulted in the "shorting out" of Teel's guitar peddal board.  As many know about us, we rely on these technological advances to make our music...and when this occurred we were reminded that fate sometimes has a way of making us feel mortal. Haha- but nonetheless we think the crowd understood when our roadies were franticlly scurring about, and we had to cut short, and have gaps of no guitar in songs... trust us...we are professionals, we were not drunk, we werent anything but astounded at the fact that "our number came up" ...

So in summary we apologize for last saturday, and we look forward to redeeming ourselves... we are going to start by doing our cleveland show with ventana THIS friday in cleveland at Hi-Fi . And our next sherlocks will be surely "over the top" ... promise!

Much love

Current mood:  busy

Hey this month our friends at Tangent wrote a sweetass article on us... it was a review of a live show a few months back... of course we being the consumate self-critiquing perfectionists we are... we were thinking "man we sucked that day"... either way it appears people are understanding what we are getting at.

Aaron's quote of the day " it doesnt have to be a pretty picture to be an interesting one"

So friends here is the link...and feel free to pass the link around if anyone asks "who in hell is this pipeyard band?"

Hello everyone.

I am writing this to let you all know at the moment we dont have any shows booked until december 2nd. We would entertain the idea of any if you have any suggestions for sure, but the reason we are waiting IS NOT because we are lazy or because we are stupid. We simply HAVE to finish our CD and anyone in the biz knows to make something perfect it takes time. We want it to be our best work.

Which brings me to the next point - speaking of best work. As always (like we always do) we started writing again. We are a few songs/ideas into what will be the next batch of songs. We are staying in the theme of a concept, and we are making what comes from our minds and hearts the way we know how. And if it comes across creepy, brutal, sensitive or of any invoking emotion it was put there for a reason.

We will play them in December in the live show. So hang in there. But alas up until then we are diligently working, and we are open for show suggestions. Also we have been compiling live shots and pictures so if you have any send them to us...we want them.

So remember ... enjoy lifes moments, enjoy the day, and never forget the person next next to you. It could all be gone tommorrow. So tell them how you feel, because you may not get a chance.

cheers
