this past week we played the metro times blowout for the 2nd year in a row (although it's our third performance...last year we played twice!) it was without a doubt one of the most fun shows we've had as a band. thanks to everyone who came out (it broke a launch party record) and for being so receptive. thanks to eve doster for putting on such a great festival this year, and to all the detroit blogs that had nice things to say about us (we enjoyed the XTC references, and props to rodrigo's porn 'stache.) some late may michigan shows are in the works, so we'll keep you posted. if you missed us at the blowout, or just loved it so much that you want to see it again, a nice guy named bill wrote us an email saying he filmed it and posted it on his youtube page. you can view them here. there are six EONS songs posted there. check them out and let us know what ya think. we're still plugging away writing our first LP here at EONS HQ. we decided to post two demos from our pre-production sessions to give you a hint of what's to come. the fruits of our labor. we're psyched, and hope you are too. /// arun. i came across a blog called "fivethreedialtone" which had a nice review of our el comal show in detroit. the first line is "eons are the best band in the whole world." he could have just stopped there, but apparently he had more to say. you can read it by going here. thank you for the very kind words, by the way. the enchilada rock show was amazing. thanks to everyone that came out. thanks to SSM for having us, serenity court and bad party for joining us, and detour magazine for pimping us. don't be surprised if el comal becomes the new shit hot DIY rock spot in detroit. in case you didn't know, the food there is amazing. To our friends at Albion College in Albion, MI - we apologize for being unable to perform for you. with the awful snow and cold that hit the midwest this past week, one of us were bound to get sick. justin drew the shortest straw, and since he sings and his voice was nearly gone, we had to make a game day decision to cancel. we're in the process of rescheduling for march, and promise to rock you double hard. new music, new shows coming soon. /// arun

It's good to see the boys again after what essentially amounted to a winter break. Fuck, I don't know how bands with fewer geographic obstacles manage to tour in the holiday times. Traveling to see the family units all over the midwest left me exhausted and content.
Ann Arbor has some great falafel at Jerusalem Gardens; we all had a bite before soundcheck. We shared the bill with a lot of great bands: Everthus The Deadbeats, Via Audio, and Mason Proper all killed it. Many props to the Masons for having us.
I look forward to playing out with Mason Props in the future. I feel like EONS has an evolutionary link to them; we both draw from a similar well of britpop and 90s indie tempered with a touch of modernism, minimalism, and maximalism. Somehwere our paths diverged and evolved into two different sounds: Mason Proper is the Gorilla--infinitely smart and gentle, kicking out jams with muscle when they need to. EONS is the Bonobo--wiry and oversexed, furiously rubbing our genitals on anything that moves.
Saturday in Detroit was an interesting circumstance--we assembled some robot beats and arrangements to play our songs sans drummer. We gathered the spirits (whiskey) and I woke up this morning with a sore hand from furiously punching a tambourine all night. Justin sang Chim-Chim-Cheree. We hope it was enjoyable, if not interesting.
Our (borrowed) van is being looked at tommorow and we'll be off to Chicago soon. More falafel and some old mates (Decibully, koltak, english) on 1/31. Hope to see you there.

People!
We here at Eons Headquarters would like to tell you what's going on with us. Otherwise, you wouldn't know. It is for this reason that the motion to write a blog was passed unanimously. Then, we all took lunch. Because democracy is exhausting.
After the busy month of September, we decided to use October to write and record more songs. Look for demo versions of "Keep it Kleen" and "Poor Rich Girl" in the next couple of weeks, as well as another headbanger or two.
On October 26th, we take a break from the writing and recording to visit The Taphouse in Norfolk. We will be playing with our friends 1888. Don't miss us if you are in the area! We just might break into an impromptu gospel rendition of the latest novelty song out in the parking lot. (Some of you know what we mean.)
November brings us back to the Detroit area. Shows will be posted as finalized. We are always excited to play home games. Speaking of home games, the NHL season has just started and we need everyone to get behind the Detroit Red Wings. Bring home the Cup, fellas!
That's it for now. Ciao.

just a quick update here at eons HQ. lots of cool developments in the last couple of weeks. first, we leave next week for boston to record an EP/7" at camp street with our good friend adam taylor. we hope to have photos and maybe some video posted of the torture and hijinks that are bound to occur. plans to record our first full length are in the works as well, also to be done at camp street. the writing has been going great, and we get more and more excited each day. we may post some demos just to give you a taste.
in other cool news, we've been added to the new bellyache records compiliation entitled "a ghoul's delight." it's a halloween compiliation featuring a bunch of really great detroit bands, including the go, the muldoons, the dirtbombs, the hentchmen, ghost city, the grande nationals, gore gore girls...just to name a few. we're very excited and have already started tracking our song for the cd. for more information, go to www.bellyachecandyshoppe.com.
it's 3am, i'm writing this while justin is playing "the warriors" on playstation. i can't decide if i'm going to bed or if i'll stay up to watch an episode of "weeds." life's hard.
