Category: Sports
North Shore Wrestling returned to Peabody MA on April 18th. 2009 for Ego-Trip.

Venue: John E. McCarthy Elementary School
Ring Announcer: Shane Daly
Referees: Dan Tanaka, Tony S, + Justin Smith
Commentary Team: Scotty Angel + "Tough Talk" Tony Spencer

Shane Daly introduced NSW Board of Directors Representative Steven Nexus who was carrying a championship belt. Before Mr. Nexus could explain why he had the belt, Marshall McNeil interupted him, introducing the NSW Heavyweight Champion "Ego-maniac" Jonny Idol. The pair took the belt and the mic from Mr. Nexus and proceeded to go on and on about how the show was named "Ego-Trip" after the Heavyweight Champion. After making their point, they started to leave the ring when Mr. Nexus reminded Idol that he had a title defense against Sonny Goodspeed later in the evening.

1. Singles Match
"Brutal" Bob Evans vs. "The Golden Greek" Alex Arion
Bob Evans pinned Alex Arion at 9:53 with his feet on the ropes.

2. NSW Television Championship
(c) "Switchblade" Shane Sharpe vs. "The Enforcer" Max Bauer
Max Bauer pinned Shane Sharpe at 10:01 to become the new NSW Television Champion.

Tough Talk with "Tough Talk" Tony Spencer
Tony Spencer held his first "Tough Talk" outside of Front Row Wrestling when it made it's debut at Ego-Trip. His guests for the evening were the #1 seed in the NSW Tag Team Championship Grand Prix, the EPW Tag Team Champions the Heatseekers ("Revolution" Chris Venom + "The Rocket" Fred Curry Jr.). Spencer interviewed the two men about their spot in the NSW Grand Prix. The Heatseekers were upset that they weren't just handed the tag championships and instead had to participate in a tournament. They had one other complaint as well, that neither of them had a match. Psycho came out (followed by "Wrong Way" Johnny Royal) and Curry challenged him to a match (for Venom). Psycho accepted.

3. Singles Match
"Revolution" Chris Venom (w/ "The Rocket" Fred Curry Jr.) vs. Psycho (w/ "Wrong Way" Johnny Royal)
Venom pinned Psycho with a small package at 3:21.

Following his match, Venom + Curry joined Scotty Angel and Tony Spencer on commentary for the next match.

4. NSW Tag Team Championship Grand Prix Quarterfinal Match
Ace Romano + "Black Magic" Tony Bennett vs. The Atomic Dogs (Greg & Anthony)
The Atomic Dogs scored the win at 9:03 after attempted interference by the Heatseekers went awry.

Following intermission, Shane Daly welcomed former NSW Heavyweight Champion "Turbo" Tim Fury out to join the commentary team for the next match.

5. Singles Match
Mean Biggie Greene (w/ Marshall McNeil) vs. "Gorgeous" Jach Vorgess
MBG attacked Vorgess as he made his entrance. Feathers from Vorgess' robe flew everywhere. Jach Vorgess won the match by disqualification at 1:00 when MBG refused to release a choke. When MBG and Marshall continued to attack Jach, Tim Fury ran into the ring and cleared them out. He chased MBG outside where he eventually made his escape.

6. NSW Tag Team Championship Grand Prix Quarterfinal Match
Greed (Matt Spectro + Christian Angers) vs. Clip O'Reilly + Owen Graichen
Greed won the match at 8:02 following a chokeslam/spinebuster doubleteam on Clip O'Reilly.

7. The Main Event: NSW Heavyweight Championship
(c) "Ego-maniac" Jonny Idol (w/ Marshall McNeil) vs. "Struttin'" Sonny Goodspeed
Sonny Goodspeed won the match by disqualification at 17:37 after Marshall McNeil interfered and himself and Idol ganged up on Goodspeed. Johnny Royal entered to help Goodspeed followed by MBG. The 3-on-2 attack was made even when "Turbo" Tim Fury entered and helped Goodspeed and Royal clear out the ring.

After winning the NSW Heavyweight Championship at Fury vs. Idol III, "Ego-maniac" Jonny Idol declared that he would not be present for Undisputed due to the fact that there was not an official #1 contender to his title. To rectify the situation, NSW Representative Steven Nexus made "Brutal" Bob Evans vs. "Struttin'" Sonny Goodspeed at Undisputed an official #1 contenders match. Sonny Goodspeed made good on his promise to pin Bob Evans and is now the official #1 contender to the NSW Heavyweight Championship. Without any loopholes, the champion has no option but to show on April 18th or forfeit his championship.

(Challenger) "Struttin'" Sonny Goodspeed
.vs.
(Champion) "Ego-maniac" Jonny Idol

In Jonny Idol's absence, Sid Reeves and Mean Biggie Greene continued to lay bodies in their wake. Sid Reeves' Undisputed opponent, "Jivin!" Johnny Royal has been knocked the wrong way. He's suffering from a major concussion with doctors speculating on whether or not he'll ever be able to compete again.... or even eat unassisted for that matter. Mean Biggie Greene has indefinitely placed a second person on the shelf in just as many months. His victim at Undisputed was Pizzazz. Pizzazz's injuries may have been worse had it not been for hometown hero "Gorgeous" Jack Vorgess. Jack stopped MBG from finishing what he had started. After Jack made the save, NSW Representative Steven Nexus declared that at Ego-Trip, Mean Biggie Greene will go one-on-one with the local legend. Will "Gorgeous" Jack prove to be Indestructable in the face of adversity or will he be the next victim on MBG's "Stomp that Sucka Tour"?

At Undisputed "Switchblade" Shane Sharpe proved that Joey Eastman's words weren't hype, but gospel, as he pinned Alex Arion to become the Undisputed NSW Television Champion. While his means were questionable the ends justified them. Joey Eastman's interference (which led to Shane Sharpe's "Switchblade" victory) did not go un-noticed by wrestlers in the back. While Sharpe celebrated, Max Bauer attempted to bring him to justice. Luckily for Sharpe, referee Dan Tanaka refused to reverse his decision. Bauer then layed down his own challenge to Sharpe for April 18th.

(Challenger) "The Enforcer" Max Bauer

(Champion) "Switchblade" Shane Sharpe

The NSW Board of Directors recognizes the talent and ability of both "The Golden Greek" Alex Arion and "Brutal" Bob Evans. With both men coming off losses at Undisputed, a victory will put one of them back on the road that could lead to championship gold. With unquestionable talent in this match, and unquestionable ability in each competitor, the only question is: Can Alex Arion pin Evans' shoulder to the mat or will he be brutalized by "Brutal" Bob?

"The Golden Greek" Alex Arion

The North Shore Wrestling Tag Team Championship Grand Prix began at Undisputed. On March 14th, two teams qualified for the semifinals. EPW Tag Team Champions The Heatseekers ("Revolution" Chris Venom + "The Rocket" Fred Curry Jr.) defeated the team of Psycho and Scott Reed to qualify while the Wild Boys (Mike Lynch & Billy King) beat Perry Von Vicious and Rocco Abruzzi to move on to the semifinals. On April 18th, two more NSW Tag Team Championship Grand Prix quarterfinal matches will take place!!
