Is your classic engenius?
....Future’s Classics Monthly magazine has launched the Engenius Awards 2009, and is on the hunt for the best classic cars which have been adapted for modern motoring conditions and energy considerations – bringing together the best of old and new technologies. The awards celebrate the beauty and originality of a classic car which has embraced future technology to create what some enthusiasts would call, an all-round perfect car. A six-speed gearbox in a Morris Minor or an economic Bio-diesel engine in a Jenson Interceptor are both examples of ‘engenius’ engineering. Engenius classics and their owners are not the same as other classic car enthusiasts; they’re a different breed who want the style and individuality that their classic brings, but with a modern twist which allows them to tailor it to their personal requirements. These engenius classics could be hiding out there! Classic car devotees could win one of the two Engenius Awards in recognition for their engineering prowess, hard work and dedication. Both awards recognise work that demonstrates fuel efficiency, performance, reliability and environmental awareness by evolving the car’s usability – with the ‘Industry Award’ going to a company or specialist, and the ‘Enthusiast Award’ going to an individual. To enter, get this month’s issue of Classics Monthly, available from all good newsagents… and some bad ones!...... ..
....Play ‘The Price is Right’ with Footman James
Show sponsor Footman James promises its usual eclectic mix of show excitement, razzmatazz and great competitions at this year’s show with its 2009 theme ‘The Price is Right’. Whether your favourite host was Lesley Crowther, Bruce Forsyth or more latterly Joe Pasquale, we all fondly remember the corny comedy and glamorous girls associated with this eighties classic. Visitors to this year’s stand will be able to stroll down memory lane and win on-the-spot prizes in Footman James’ very own ‘Price is Right’ competition, including a weekend break in luxury Forest of Dean retreat The Speech House Hotel, a favourite with touring classic car owners. In the current economic climate, the words ‘price’ and ‘value’ are on the tip of everyone’s tongue – in fact, in a recent survey of classic car owners, ‘agreed value’ was voted one of the most important features within a classic car insurance policy. With this in mind, the 2009 Footman James stand will showcase some shocking examples of the sort of motoring mishap nightmares are made of, highlighting just how important agreed value policies really are. Paul Matthews, Footman James’ managing director, said: “We hear of so many horror stories about classics owners who do not have agreed value policies or simply forget to send in the paperwork, and then the worst happens and they need to make a claim. On our stand will be examples of classics which have encountered incidents that would bring many classics owners out in a cold sweat, but also highlight just how important agreed value policies are for protecting the true value of a classic vehicle.” footmanjames.co.uk
....Ello, ello, ello, what do we have here then?
With more motoring clubs attending than ever before, we were bound to find some hidden gems and as with the club news flooding in, we have discovered just that. Fancy being pulled over by this beauty? An extremely rare fully restored 1958 Porsche 356a Austrian police car. Believed to be the only one left from just three made for the Austrian police and only 16 worldwide, the car comes complete with the uniform worn by its original driver as well as his warrant card and handheld stop sign. You will be able to get a closer look by visiting the DDK Club stand. DDK stands for Die Deutschen Klassiker and is a forum based club for Classic Porsche 356, Porsche 911, Porsche 912, Porsche 914 and replica fans that was founded seven years ago and has grown beyond expectation. www.ddk-online.com has become a well respected source of information and help for the true classic (pre 1974) Porsche owner. And you can see plenty of other law-abiding cars on the Police Cars UK stand as they pay tribute to 50 years of policing British Motorways....... ..

To see this prestigious car and to get the full and exciting story behind it, make sure you pay a visit to the Jaguar stand.

Volvo Cars celebrate 80th anniversary with debut of rare open top Volvos at CMS2007
Amazing open tops set to delight the crowds
Rare soft top Volvos will be under the spotlight at this year's Classic Motor Show. Celebrating 80 years since the first Volvo car left the factory in Göteborg, the company will mark this tremendous milestone by appearing for the first time at the Classic Motor Show with the help of some real motoring rarities, representing the different decades. An interesting array of rare Volvo cars will de displayed on the 400 square metre stand situated in Hall 1 of the NEC. Some stunning cars, never seen before in the UK, will no doubt surprise the visitors with their rarity, beauty and condition. Among the cars on display at the Volvo stand will be one of the few remaining Volvo 445 Valbo dropheads from 1953, a two-seater fibreglass bodied Volvo Sport from 1956 and a 480 convertible prototype from 1990. A C70 convertible will represent the current Volvo model range. By displaying these unusual models, visitors will be introduced to some lesser known parts of the Volvo product history and older cars that are not very well known outside of Sweden. All the more reason therefore to give them pride of place at the UK's best classic motoring exhibition. The Volvo Cars on display will be brought to the show by Volvo Cars Heritage, whose brief is to nurture and present the company's history and rich heritage. They will be joined by the Volvo Owner's Club, which has an extensive network and huge expertise and will be able to talk to visitors about the club and its activities as well as providing answers to questions about what it is like to own a classic Volvo. For more information about Volvo's classic car models, visit www.volvocars.com.heritage.
