bonsoir,

it's been a while i had no opportunity to have a look  at myspace from inside... this new myspace doesn't allow my good ol' 'G4 running on X 3.9 to open the page. that's what i get for being against the common understanding of progress!

but it's fine: technique is there to help and not to depend on. i know that for i have friends addicted to internet since they have a huge itamagoshi in their pocket not my style...

anyway i used this opportunity to make some new internet pages on alternative sites, that ALLOW me to use my computer. check them out it would be nice:

here's a little update on jules etienne's thrilling life

after a fantastic mini tour to russia and ukraine for snax and the snackettes i came back to berlin a bit depressed. we had so much fun and it was really inspiring to be in moscow. the come back to loser city berlin was even harder. seriously, berlin is a great place if you want to go out everyday of the week without spending any cash and if you are gay. but i'm fed up with cheap club music and i like girls.

i gave up the idea of making a label for my own stuff after trying forever to get all the paperwork done. this is just ridiculous how complicated everything is to realise such an easy dream as releasing your own music. and all this only so a few fat ladies sitting in offices working efficiently 2 hours a day and taking their weekend on friday at 1pm can still live from YOUR work... it reminds me so much of asterix and obelix (from min. 2):

so f... it. i'll sell it like that so if some of you are interested by my folk album called "short stories" send me a message i'll figure out how much it cost and send it to you for some little money. i'll make some aggressive promotion to get that album out.

apart of that i had the chance to help out my friend steev lemercier for the music he did for a film by christophe chemin. it was really surprising to see steeve's universe filmed by someone on a big screen at potsdamer platz. i really enjoyed the movie but lot less the talking afterward... when i went i also saw this girl called chloe trying to avoid me. i know her because she is friend with julien from the belmondos or whatever he calls himself now. she came to my place a few times for belmondos rehearsals back then when i was playing in this band. get a life chloe, your behavior is pathetic.

i use this blog as an opportunity to announce a new project with my friend yanneck. we are writing lots of music right now and we are thinking about an album. hard for me to keep details secret but i have to... i'll sing in french that's all i can tell.

the coconuts are still alive. we now have a keyboard player from norway called sandra. vera we miss you but life goes on. i played once the bass for a concert but it's definitely more fun to play congas and snare so i'll keep doing that. we play in prenzlauerberg on wednesday next week in a place called soupanova. come by!

now i'll enjoy my bavarian long weekend in the mountains... have a nice weekend too!

it's been a year now that i asked juliette to make a photoshoot for my album. now my part (the music) is finished and i'm waiting for the graphic designer to send me the cover. i'm also waiting for the city to give me my license (gewerbeschein) and from the distributor to give me an answer for the label. conclusion: it's almost finished like i say since months!!! i'm fed up and really hope i'm gonna make it for the end of the year.

meanwhile i decided to ask alessandro (the other part of gui.tar) to play with me on stage the jules etienne songs. alone with the guitar is kinda boring. the audience i played for gave me the feeling i should add some more music to my live set.

our project sic! found a label that is wanting to release it... i'll give concrete information when all will be done to not bullshit you, my dear audience

my last berlin concert at intersoup was a nightmare because of me not doing any promotion so that only my close friends came to the concert (danke veronika, marie, julien, yanneck, vera+partner & eric for the great concert). i'll try to do more of that starting from now:

come to the party arty vol. 31 i'll be playing with snax some psychedelic guitars.

soso i hope to see you there!

take care,
jules

this summer has been a huge coconut to me.

starting with the band from valeron with vera and sandro and finishing with the valeron recording at the kottkott studio. we made half the album in 3 days. we'll finish it after my holiday in munich and the south of france. i'm building a mini studio in munich so i can stay productive. after that, beach is calling and i'll be training for the marathon on the atlantic coast

some people think it's sad but autumn is coming and it makes me so deliciously nostalgic. i love that time of year. it will be time also for me to start up my label j.e.m. so you can also hear my music on the radio, which is part of my master plan to conquer the world

september is coming and i love it! now it's time to chill at the isar... during that time and since you are reading this blog, listen to my new song called "messy". and of course, don't forget my concert at intersoup on the 19th of september.

see you there

using this blog space to get rid of some really painful thoughts. i live in berlin for a long time and it happens so often to meet people living here for as long as me but NOT speaking fluently german. last sunday evening at GdK was really a caricature of this situation... so this blog is dedicated to the loser with the lumberjack shirt, the thin jeans and the jamie liddell glasses (thank god you live in prenzlauerberg...)

what do those people think?!! of course english is everybody's language and germans are fond of situations where they can practice their language skills. but what about a little respect and interest for some cultural background about the german language?

this makes me really sad to see those people living here, claiming to be artists but not being smart enough to get into a new language. even worse than that is: generalizing about germans and their behavior without even knowing what they talk about since they don't understand the people around.

IF YOU DON'T SPEAK GERMAN DO NOT DARE ANY STATEMENT ABOUT GERMANS!!!

has berlin become some sort of dump for losers coming here because they can't afford living anywhere else?

hey hey,

snax sent me this link a while ago from his gig at scala where i played with him and i really like it so i wanted to share:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aBtHyrnE5Q

also the evening of the seamonchhichi concert, a nice girl made some pictures that she then posted on her photobucket. thanks to her for being the only one recognizing i was wearing a spongebob outfit (and also sweating like hell)

next gig is with snax at tape club and hopefully with my new guitar (a little dream has come true: i bought a arctic white fender strato like nile rodgers)... the lalaby demo is so far almost finished, we still need to record the backing vocals and put some magical spells on the material so it sounds enchanted... hope to be able to show some material soon.

the lalaby concert yesterday was just crazy. thanks to all of you who came on the first place and to all the lala's also to make this baroque project possible. we had a listen to the recordings at my place after the show and i was amazed by the sound and the athmosphere of the whole show. especially the end of the nico cover "it has not taken long" was amazing to listen to. so i'm satisfied with our performance

got some new instruments for the kottkott studios:

its lot's of fun to play, especially the trombone (which is a jamie liddel trombone, by the way).

now it'sll be time to start preparing the seamonchhichi show for schwuz with hanayo, make a new playback and start rehearse the bassline so we can rock the schwuz crowd. hope to see some of you there.

have a good week end
