Current mood: gloomy
I believe in nukes. Not in the sense that they are our savior, quite the contrary. As sure as some people believe that Jesus Christ will one day return to earth, I believe in the inevitability of nuclear warfare. Sure the US set off a couple of them at the dusk of WWII, but that was hardly nuclear warfare. When only one side has the bomb, it is merely a demonstration of power. When multiple players have the bomb, it has the potential to be warfare. Al-Qaeda with nukes? please. I'm not the least bit concerned about some "terrorist" group with nukes. You have to think bigger, much bigger. Russia, now there's some nukes. Tested and proven, with the ICBMs to match. Every bit as capable as the US arsenal. My fear is that the US becomes boisterous enough that some poor bastard will feel that the only response for the betterment of humanity would be to launch an all out attack. I say poor bastard because they know that a retaliatory strike will come. The engineering has been done. The systems have been tested. I hope I'm wrong. I hope that this is just some fool rambling. The good news? Nuclear combat is more survivable than you think.

an enigma wrapped in a riddle, a country boy who is trying to understand this world in which we live. I always feel there are better persons than I. Little ego, less motivation. Thought versus action. around my part of town, soda is referred to as coke.
