Dan Lamoureux, directorof the nerdy documentary Nerdcore For Life, has finished working the music video for my LOLcats song! This video is my first "official" music video and I'm so happy with the final version. More info about the video (including sexy pictures) can be found on Dan's blog.

Nerdcore For Life, get your tix now.

Nerdcore For Life, the documentary about nerd and geeks and the hip hop that they make is finally coming to San Francisco! Although I haven't seen it yet, I do know that several of my (Drown Radio's) tracks where used for the soundtrack and my interview made it into the film. w00t!

The film will only be shown July 12th at 4:15pm at the Roxie Theater as part of the SF Frozen Film festival, I suggest getting your tix now. But that's not all, hang around for the Nerdcore for Life afterparty with performances by MC Lars, Nomad, and myself (location TBA). I've heard from a few folks that have caught this doc in other festivals and loved it... I'm so excited to finally see it myself. I mean, my head is going to be on the movie screen... and it's going to be huge!

Drown Radio's debut solo album, Me Geek Pretty One Day, is finally here! To put it simply, Me Geek Pretty One Day is 50+ minutes of endearingly nerdy hip hop, instrumentals, remixes, and ringtones all for just $8. You can read more about MGPOD here, or just go ahead and buy it here.

Me Geek Pretty One Day is also the very first full length album available via SMS! Dial (515) 862-1000 from your cell phone and then pressing 6 to buy the album. If you forward the song to a friend, by pressing 3, you will be sent a free copy of lolCats (radio edit) via SMS.

I'm very happy with this release, as a matter of fact i've been listening to it every day for the past month, it's great! It's fantastic! It's better than bad, it's good! So please check it out, and tell your friends about it.

Me Geek Pretty One Day, coming in March

It's official, I'm releasing a brand new Drown Radio album in March of 2008!

The album is called Me Geek Pretty One Day, and will probably come out sometime in early March (between March 5th and March 10th). It's too early to give exact info, but it should be 10 or more songs (clocking in at around 35 minutes) and will be available electronically for $8.

For more info, check out the official MGPOD page.

tannerXdrownradioXspeaknspellIn preparation for the album, I visited my friend and 1337 nerdcore producer, tanner4105 last weekend and we collaborated on several tracks. We recorded 5 songs, including a remix of Happy Valium Meal and a new track called Skype Lyfe (featuring mc router on her last nerdcore track evar).

As a special preview we've posted one of our goofier songs, Boyen Boyen, for you cats to check out. This is the un-mixed version of the song and was created in a couple of hours.

Last saturday, 12 musicians (including myself) took place in the first ever Crate Digger Death-match. The goal was for each artist to create an entire album in under 12 hours using only $12 of thrift sounds (cds, records, vhs, toys, etc). 7 of the 12 completed their albums and we've posted a "single" from each online.

I encourage everyone to check them out here and vote on your favorite artist.

I'm really digging a lot of what's come out of the CDD so far. The singles are dope, but some of the real gems are actually on the artist's full CDD albums. I'm particularly impressed with 's entire album, Snake Eyeand D-Form pulled of some great production tricks on his too.

The album I created for the event is called "Codfresh" and can be found here. Although I had tech issues that prevented me from completing the album in the time alloted, the album I posted was completed in 12 total hours (just not in a row).

In other Drown Radio news, my newest song, lolCats, was used in the newest episode of Geek Entertainment TV. See it here.

Another last minute show update, I'll be opening for MC Lars at Monterey Live (in Monterey, CA) tomorrow night. The show will be all ages and stuff.

I'll be doing a half hour set and will be joined by MC Inadequate for a few of the songs. The response I recieved from my last show (with Frontalot and Schaffer) was really friggin' positive, so I'm pretty stoked about this show....

... but I just caught a severe cold too. So, we'll see how well I can pull my shit together.

At least "Sick-O" will have that authentic "sick person" sound to it. I keep it real, yo!

..

My friend, and beat-making hero, Bomarr released his new EP "Scraps" today. The album, which is a compendium to his recent album Freedom From Frightened Air, is available online for free. Click here for the official album info and file.

"Scraps" features collaborations with fellow Restiform Bodies bandmates Telephone Jim Jesus and Passage, as well as new tracks and remixes from artists such as Of Montreal, Circus, and anticon labelmate Sole.

Personally, I think this is some of the best shit Bomarr's done yet. Stand out tracks include Atur and Sneakmove iPhone Ringtone Song.

On Atur, Bomarr is joined by Restiform Bodies frontman Passage to create a track filled with Passage's melodic lyrical delivery and 8 bit glitches and loops. The track comes from the first sneakmove minicomp 7" (as well as appearing on Restiform Bodies myspace page, but not for download). Last time I talked to Passage he was getting into LSDJ and Nanoloop, so that's probably what the melody comes from, but he could be using MIDI-NES or maybe even just 8 bit samples. I'm curious to find out... Okay, Bomarr says it's Nanoloop.

Sneakmove iPhone Ringtone Song is quickly recognized as the generic "Marimba" ringtone that is the iPhone's default ring for just about every feature. It seems that every-time I play this track on my phone, an actual call comes in... it's a weird experience and sometimes I don't even realize it's a call. I just think "I don't remember this breakdown". On the subject of ringtones, here is my downloadable iPhone ringtone.

Bomarr is currently working with the rest of the Restiform Bodies on their sophomore release, due next year, and is planning on producing another of his "Wild X-mas" podcasts in time for the holidays. You can check out his last Wild X-Mas podcasts here.

in the studio for the Twistin' Cherry Stems single

I'm so stoked to sing and rap my lil' heart out onstage at Cafe Du Nerd. I'll actually be the first act, and it will be an uber short set, but I'm really stoked because I'll be getting in for free. It'll be keen to meet Schaffer too I guess.

I'll probably be doing Tanner's (MC Router's producer) remix version of Happy Valuim Meal as well as the newly produced Twistin' Cherry Stems (with production by Badd Spellah [omg!]). I've started writting a new song about tech in the bay area too that might be finished by Sunday.

Speaking of Twistin' Cherry Stems, the single is due out in January! Anticon's Bomarr (previously Bomarr Monk and member of Restiform Bodies) has signed up for remix duties along with the amazing 8bit Betty!

I think you should come, I'll be onstage at 8pm. Did you see Front's new video yet?

Hey all,

Just a heads up that I created a new music video with video blogger and tech news reporter Irina Slutsky (henceforth referred to as MC Slutsky).

I posted the video on DrownRadio.com.

The video and music were created in less than a week, and I think it's way better than our Boobs in A Box video. I'm especially proud of the beat, but I think Slutsky did a pretty good job for a non-rapper.

Please check out the other vlog death match videos and vote for your favorite here.
