This Autumn, Lorraine and Ricky of Deacon Blue will take their new album The Great Lakes on the road under the name McIntosh Ross.
After more than two decades in and out of Deacon Blue, Lorraine has launched a career as an actress while Ricky has been working as a songwriter for artists including James Blunt and Jamie Cullum. At the same time, writing, recording and performing their own music remains central in both their lives and the pair decided they wanted to make an album together of beautiful, meaningful and simple songs that they could call, justly and equally, their own. The result is The Great Lakes, an album of supreme melodic grace and spiritual purity, which combines echoes of the duo's Celtic homeland with the country twang of the American south.

Deacon Blue have announced that bass player Ged Grimes and guitarist Gregor Philp will join the band for their forthcoming UK shows including a series of summer dates and a tour with Simple Minds later in the year. Ged Grimes and Gregor Philp will be replacing Scott Fraser and Taj Wyzgowski respectively and a video of Ged & Gregor at work during recent band rehearsals is now available to view at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25dnwtndq3g As one of the founding members of Dundee pop band "Danny Wilson", Ged enjoyed major global success with the group and hit records such as "Mary's Prayer" made a lasting impression on fans of timeless, crafted pop music. He has recorded and performed with many leading artistes worldwide including Grammy Award Winner Natalie Imbruglia and Brit Award Winner, Eddi Reader. Ged launched his music production company Jack's Hoose Music in 1997. His music has featured in many top selling Playstation and Xbox games such as "Enter The Matrix", "Amplitude" and "Earthworm Jim" and in feature film trailers such as 'The Bourne Supremacy".
Half-man, half-guitar, Gregor Philp was born under the little-known star sign of Rickenbacker. Born too late for Vaudeville, he joined the artfully named Swiss Family Orbison with Kit Clark (Danny Wilson) and Dougie Vipond (Deacon Blue), which had John Peel among its many admirers. Multi-instrumentalist Gregor is also one of the country's most respected TV and film composers; his versatility shown by work as diverse as Balamory (BBC) and film work such as Young Adam, where he worked with David Byrne. ..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

If a band can claim squatters' rights, then Deacon Blue can take ownership of the charts. Their first album 'Raintown' set the precedent, spending 77 weeks in the album chart, and with five top 5 UK albums (of which 2 were number 1) under the belts they have chalked up an impressive 4 years in the British album charts. Their seventeen top 40 singles resided in the chart for more than 2 years. Their new album & DVD "Live" is released on 9th June and is supported by summer shows...:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Like many artists of quality, Deacon Blue's success did not come overnight. A commitment to live performance built a solid fan base, and despite the fact that the first release of Raintown was met with critical rather than commercial success, a re-release following extensive touring, meant the album spent 77 weeks on the UK chart. Raintown was the first of five top five albums, with Dignity the first of 18 top 40 singles. Six million album sales were the backbone of Deacon Blue's lasting success and now they remain one of the most popular touring bands, with tickets for live performances rarely available or long.
Their new live album and accompanying DVD was recorded during their sell-out 2007 tour of Europe and features all their biggest hits including Dignity, Real Gone Kid, Wages Day and Chocolate Girl.
Deacon Blue may be serious about creating timeless songs, but the DVD shows they are never afraid to have fun with the live experience, challenging the strength of the world's concert hall floors for "bounce-ability".
Tracks on the album include:
CD TRACKS
1. Your Constant Heart
2. Your Town
3. Your Swaying Arms
4. Chocolate Girl
5. Every Time You Sleep
6. Raintown
7. Loaded

10. When Will You (Make My Telephone Ring)
11. Real Gone Kid
12. Wages Day
