Release date: 01/10/2009 Side A Aphone - Double Step (Myrkur Remix) Bunzer0 - Second meeting
Side B Tyronn - Rumble (Forsaken Remix) Grimelock - T Rox
Je m'en fish's first vinyl release is a promotional & limited edition pressing, aimed at promoting the featured artists and launching the platform. De eerste Je m'en fish uitgave op vinyl is een promotioneel exemplaar om het platform op te starten, en werd slechts gedrukt op een oplage van 500 stuks
This is a remix I made for the good people at Je m'en fish. I heard the tune Rumble and really like some of the synth work in it, so Bart Dujardin made it happen. My pick of the tunes is the grimelock beat, it's a stormer!

A. Fighting Spirit AA. Hypnotised
IME008
www.immerserecords.com www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=95426

Double A side. Get me! I'm really happy with this release, the tunes were mastered beautifully by Beau at Masterpiece and the final pressing is really nice, warm and bass embracing! Press Release: Bristol-based Forsaken has been producing his uniquely musical mix of beats and bass for several years now, garnering attention from across the world, the web and blogosphere, but vinyl releases have been scarce save for a tune on Immerse Records' Substratum EP and a 12" for Peverelist's imprint Punch Drunk. Luckily, Immerse Records, celebrating its 2nd year, steps once more into the fray to deliver an imaginative twelve from Forsaken which is joyously unfettered by trends or orthodoxies, and full of his obvious love for music, melody and colour. 'Hypnotised' takes a snippet of Tweet as its mantra and builds a bumpy groove around it, where busy kicks and snare drums are surrounded by snaking bass, and a subtle skank punctuates the organic blend of Rhodes and strings. Heads down, eyes shut and let the beats run riot. Fighting Spirit takes a more epic approach, blending eastern zithers with a wild selection of ethnic percussion that takes a cue from London's emerging Funky scene. Mixed with thunderous bass and soothing pads, Forsaken carefully balances the mood to create a sure-fire future classic. Boomkat Review:
The much touted Forsaken drops a couple of unpredictable killers for Bristol's ace Immerse imprint. 'Hypnotised' takes a breakstep/dubstep template and smudges the edges to forge an indivudual interpretation with off kilter breakbeat work and deep cut and heavy, yet definitely non-wobbly bass that links up to provide a killer dancing riddim. That's not to mention the clever sample of Tweet's 'Oops' vocal to provide the main refrain, placing this track head and shoulders above the rest of the competition. 'Fighting spirit' on the flip still belligerantly refuses to conform to the dubstep rulebook with a sickly woozy 2-step riddim bent and manipulated to suit its own devices and in the process sounding like the best of Bass Clef, Peverelist or a really pished El-B. Wicked tracks.

A. Boat Noodles - Forsaken B. Erstwhile Rhythm (Forsaken Mix) - Peverelist PD006 http://www.myspace.com/punchdrunkrecords http://www.rootedrecords.co.uk
So Peverelist is a badman and got this out a week ahead of schedule! Out now and available from Rooted Records: http://rootedrecords.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=924 Nnt-Medien Review: "Emotive Asian flavours and rolling sub bass gives Boat Noodles cross genre appeal. The flip features the Forsaken interpretation of Peverelist's 'Erstwhile rhythm' track which was originally on the second Punch Drunk release back in February 2007, 'taking the original in new directions (Blackdown). Skippy 2 step beats, deep bass and signature Forsaken melodic vibes see 2007 out in style for Punch Drunk" Boomkat Review: Rooted's Punch Drunk imprint is emerging as one of the most interesting and stylistically ambitious labels operating in dubstep right now, spearheaded by label owner Peverelist's seemingly effortless ability to avoid the path well travelled by so many of his contemporaries. In line with this generic dexterity comes this brilliant new twelve from Forsaken, once again finding the label on a slightly maladjusted trajectory that has as much in common with the acoustic plunderphonics of nu-folk as it does with the bass scrubs you'll no doubt be expecting. "Boat Noodles" is just sublime, making use of a messed up and repeatedly spliced and layered vocal edit and Eastern strums to create an altogether new stylistic beast - and one that doesn't really sound like any other dubstep you'll have heard this year. On the flipside Forsaken takes on Peverelist's "Erstwhile Rhythm" and feeds it with some chiming motif's and sweet melodies to great effect. Respect to Punch Drunk and Rooted for pushing things forever forward..and delivering another killer twelve. Some Random Quotes: "this tune is absolutely amazing... I just put it on for the first time and I couldn't stop gazing at my shoes. I wasn't even wearing any at the time, I had to go and put some on." "Forsaken is really coming into his own now, a big producer for the coming years i reckon, never scared..." "Boot Noodles makes me think RJD2 if he produced dubstep..."

Forsaken - Thunder b/w Diem - Sitar Dub
Immerse 003pt2 - Substratum EP

http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=31726 http://www.digital-tunes.net/labels/immerse_records/
Press Release: This is a weighty 2-part release featuring a clutch of new producers repping from Bristol to Barcelona, all supplying tunes designed to work as well off the dance floor as on it. Part 2. Forsaken's 'Thunder' kicks off with a warm boom bass and fathoms-deep space ethereals, then the devastating reese line comes out of nowhere to hit you right between the eyes. Finally, new artist Diem serves up 'Sitar Dub,' a stone cold killer with air-bulging LFOs to complement the huge echo chamber snares and classic dread samples. Reviews in IDJ and ATM Mag. Radio & club play Rob Smith (Smith & Mighty), Pinch (Tectonic), Appleblim (Skulldisco), kidkut (Noir), Thinking (Noir), Wedge (SubFM)."
BoomKat Review: They like a good bit of subbass down in Bristol don't they? They definitely have more than their fair share anyway, as demonstrated on the latest e.p from Diem and Forsaken on the very tasty Immerse imprint. Diem licks up a Sitar over some demonic subwobbles for his effort but Forsaken knocks out all-comers on the ridiculous 'thunder'. It's all about the subs with this one, and they're fucking heavy. They go down, then a bit more and just as you think they can't go any further... Yep, you've shat yourself. Don't even bother playing this unless you've got a decent system. Top effort lad!
GutterBreakz Review: Moving on to part two, 'Sitar Dub' is the work of Diem, who I'm not familiar with personally, but I've been hearing the track played out locally on dub for months. It features the same "strictly yard music" sample as Kion's 'Yard Music', but there the similarity ends. The main focus is the interplay between a resonant synth line and a plucked sitar sample, with a massive, heavily echoed electronic clap holding down the groove, and thick layers of sub and wobble bass pressure beneath. Last but by no means least comes 'Thunder' by Forsaken (aka Pete Bubonic). It must be nearly a year since Pete first handed me this one on cd-r, and I played it at Dubloaded last April, then on Gutterbreakz FM the following month, so you can probably guess I'm rather keen on it. If I recall (and I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong), this was one of Pete's earliest attempts at exploring the emptier, more atmospheric end of dubstep (his background is more breakbeat, d'n'b and techstep, with a strong allegiance to grime) and he sort of nailed it at first attempt, with an unfathomable palette of textural elements flowing between ethereal calm and gritty violence. The unpredictable placing of the snare makes it notoriously tricky to mix with, but I like a challenge. It's a true original - I've still yet to hear anything else quite like it, and nice to see it finally enshrined on wax. Big up all concerned!
