Newport TJ's Monday 22nd June

First band on the night was Hey! Tonight (3/5). I have seen Hey! Tonight before and then they were great, today just wasn’t their day. They played fairly well but I have seen them play much better, songs like 'It’s Not Illegal' and 'Godzilla Goes To Hollywood' are sure to get crowds moving sooner rather than later. The next band on the night was Dead Reaction (0/5). They were absolutely dreadful, they played a set of covers and every song the covered they killed the song then dumped the remains of it in the river, that’s how bad they were. Personally, I am not a fan of Kings of Leon but Dead Reaction made me appreciate how good Kings of Leon actually are. They covered 'Use Somebody' and about 50 seconds into them playing that song; I left because I couldn't hear it anymore. Thank God that This Is A Setup! (4/5) were on. From the word go everyone got into their set. Jarhyd even gave me a shout out which I thought was great. Back to the point they had a great reaction when they played 'Lights, Camera, Action!' and everyone singing along it was a truly good set. Next up were dance-rock trio Payton (3/5) and they were impressive. With dance beats blasting and the guitar blaring the both vocalists certainly showed that they can sing, however there were a few attempts at screaming that weren’t so great but other than that they had people dancing and it was a good set. Winch House (1/5) were next up and didn’t seem to impress me at all. With vocals higher pitched than Joe Pasquali on helium and typical pop-punk that after 3 songs I couldn’t hear anymore because it was so predictable. The headliner tonight was My Passion (5/5) and they delivered an amazing live performance. They opened with 'Play Dirty' and it was played with everything they had. Every song after this one was played exactly the same and they completely blew the crowd away with every song they did.

Download Festival 2009

Friday 12th June 2009
Sadly due to arriving late I was unable to catch Hollywood Undead. The First band that I saw that day was The Blackout (3/5), playing catchy tunes such as ‘We Are The Children of The Night’ and doing a medley of Korn’s Blind, Faith No More’s Epic and Limp Bizkit’s Break Stuff the duo vocalist had the crowd cause absolute mayhem. There was so much energy after The Blackout played and the organisers of Download could not have picked a band that could drain all that energy in 30 seconds than Staind (0/5). They played a 30 minute set and unfortunately I can’t get those 30 minutes back. No movement from the crowd or most of the band for that matter! Thankfully, Billy Talent (3/5) picked up where The Blackout left off. They played a variety of old and new songs such as ‘Try Honesty’ ‘Line And Sinker’ and new tunes such as ‘Rusting In The Rain’. The crowd went mental when they heard the intro for ‘Devil In A Midnight Mass’. Killswitch Engage (3.5/5) took the energy and took it to another level. Guitarist Adam running wild on the stage dressed in nothing but short shorts and a wrestling mask. The wall of death was called and that summed up Killswitch Engage’s set. The next band was the moment that everyone here was waiting for, I am obviously talking about Limp Bizkit (5/5). Wes Borland came onto the stage with the body paint on just like old times. The roar from the crowd when Fred Durst ran onto the stage was unbelievable. Then to make everyone’s day Wes strummed the first 2 notes to ‘Break Stuff’. The whole of Donnington, from front to back, was bouncing. They then went through classics such as ‘My Generation’ ‘Rollin’ and ‘Nookie’. Any band would have a tough time following on from Limp Bizkit’s set, not for Korn (5/5). They simply blew my mind away with the heaviness of their sound and overall performance. Seeing 80,000 people singing along all the words to ‘Right Now’ and ‘Freak On A Leash’ changed the way I see music as a whole. And, finally the band that everyone wanted to see, after 10 of hiatus they’re back. Faith No More (5/5) took the crowds breath away with every song they played. Unfortunately, I got knocked out in the mosh pit after sustaining 4 punches to the head. Luckily I woke up to catch my 2 favourite songs ‘Ashes to Ashes’ and ‘Epic’. They finished their set with everyone wanting more. All in all it was the best line-up I have ever seen in years.

Well - here we are.... it's that time of year again and everyone is gearing up for this years ITC event in Manchester....

AND WE ARE GONNA BE THERE! ! ! ! ! !

Indeed people, along with our old mates at Big Multimedia, we are staging our very own showcase event on the evening of the 7th of October at One Central.

We had shedloads of bands and acts contact us about appearing - and as it was such short notice - we only had a couple of days to put the whole thing together - wefeel we have a great range of acts that reflects the spread of what we do here at UKBands....

There's RAVENFACE - possibly the youngest band to EVER play at ITC, representing the new generation of musicians and bands that'll be ruling the airwaves over the next few years... one of them is still only 15 ! ! ! ! ! !

...then there's Sylva tha Poet... hailing from Leamington Spa, and sporting one of the quirkiets takes on a fusion of all that is Urban with pretty much anything else that comes to hand - or mind, for that matter - that you are ever likely to hear!

....and there's classic indie pop, in the shape of KINGS PARADE with more than just a touch of swirling synths about it - they'll just be popping down the road from good old Liverpool....

...and then there's The Ruskins, representing the South coast of ol' Blighty...
And what can ya say about them, eh?  ...well it's up to you to find out - all the bands are in our top friends - so click a link and check 'em out ya hear?!

The crew from Big will be filming the whole thing - and you'll be able to see all of that over at UKBands.net - but there's more to come..... though we're not giving away any secrets just yet - you'll all have to wait and see, eh?

So, if you are about - then come say hello, okay - and you might just get yer ugly mug caught on camera!
