Here is a very encouraging and incredibly inspiring video from last year's Lobby Day in DC. It's not too late to sign up! If you can't make it out, please make a call to your congressmen on Tuesday!

This only shows what a powerful voice the youth of this nation has. May we all lift our voices up and fight for peace, justice, and positive change in making this world a better place.

lots of love to you all,
star

I'm soooo excited for this weekend!
Wednesday, February 20, 2008
Hello everyone!
I miss writing more frequently, but unfortunately my schedule has not allowed me such pleasure. I must do so more, especially since I sense such an incredibly positive energy about this year that is upon us. There is so much change, yet I've found a beautiful opulence right at it's center-if we would all but look for it. There is a wealth of wisdom, truthfulness and prosperity that is somewhere amongst this sense we must make of the things around us and world we are a part of. I feel a progressive motion asking us to be participants of something bigger, stronger, larger. I dunno...I've felt this before, but this year feels almost alive! Surging with energy calling us to stand strong, open to expansion and flourishing.

I truly hope all of you have had a good year so far!

From conversation and stories, it appears as though last year was difficult for many (myself included)...However, I think it's only natural to feel a struggle within oneself when the universe is asking you to be full of faith and trust in it's abundance.

And in reguards to trusting in the abundance of love and goodness I would like to encourage all of you to be a part of the peace movement. I hope to see everyone around me, at some point this year, getting themselves involved in the pursuit of peace and the extension of love. Be it in prayer, social activism, or within themselves.

This invitation I am extending now to all of you really is for ALL of you, but I know is a lot simpler for those who are located on the east coast, so I am hoping that at least some of you who are local will join me?!?!:

Lobby Day in Washington DC is almost upon us. This is an opportunity for you to join myself and others such as friends at: Invisible Children and Resolve Uganda in lobbying with our Nation's leaders in order to rise support from the US government to end the civil war in Uganda and help find resolutions and support for peace.

This will be a wonderful opportunity for you to get involved with the world you are a part of as well as utilize your freedom and your voice as a citizen of America.

Here is an incredible video for last year's lobby day which came shortly after the Global Nigh Commute (the protest for the children in Uganda, in which thousands of us all slept outside to make a statement about the injustice that is going on everyday in Uganda with it's children and it's people).

Check out what an incredible impact the voices and passion of the youth had on the Leaders of our country!:

The displaced in Uganda won't go home until the peace talks are signed, and the peace talks won't be signed unless they know that the US will support their work. So we're taking a risk.Sign up and bring a friend. Maybe two.
As the youth of today and the future of tomorrow we have are in an incredible position to be a part of changing the world that is around us now for the better:

Current mood:  energetic
The following is just a flow from my heart. These are a few things I am feeling very intensely at this moment, as I have just had a birthday and am now about to begin a new year of my life. As I am thinking of all of the things I no longer wish to carry into this new year, I am thinking of all the love and truth that I wish to radiate and beam brighter than I ever have. I hope that you will join me. I hope that nothing I have written has offended anybody. I know when my passion flies I have a tendency to ramble and let the little pirate in me raise her flag and start a commotion. Just know that I speak this with love and I hope you recieve it as my loving you. As one human to another:

Love,
yes, you!
Love, yes, love too.
Love is generous and kind, extraordinary and true.
Love is pure and relentless, compassionate and devastatingly beautiful.
Were you told this as a child? Well, neither was I...
Most certainly the impenetrable beauty that is Love (in it's honest and unchanging existence) was not demonstrated to me in this fashion either. I was taught that unconditional love was possible, though most of my experience with love was through crooked conditionals. Broken hearts that built a fortress of requirements prior to my existence. What is it to be human, if not to love and seek wisdom? We are extraordinary beings, capable of much love and change, incredible creation and positive construction. Yet a society that encourages consumption, decadance, and selfishness is only pulling us further from the most natural instinct within our creative bodies; love and giving, communion and gratitude.
Love is contageous. It is infectious, swelling, on the incline.
Underneath the sobbing heart, love is a little hope climbing, coming closer, breathing truth into you when you're gasping for air.
But what is it now to live? In this society? In this world?
Neon signs that decorate our city streets to solicit self esteem while deprecating the soul. Everything around us, tearing little peices of our humanity. We find ourselves so incredibly raw, underserving, starved for love and validation.
We are wonderful beings. Brilliant, beautiful, all of us-yes, ALL OF US!
We have fascinating minds, built for creation, positivity, love, and expansion.
Yet, as there is light in this world, so also is there darkness.
Entertain me, if you will?
As I want to surrender my heart to you and be an ambassador for light, if i may?
For in my darkest moment (and most certainly I have had them, and quite honestly they have been recent) I find that I can not seperate myself from my innate connection with the thing that created me, love-and it is when I choose to react with stillness and motion only in a gesture of peace, that I find myself wholly connected to who I truly am, accepting of myself, and eager to love and be united with those around me-in a reciprocal, positive, and progressive motion upwards.

I just had a birthday...
Much was thought about on the eve of my new year.
I put to death many things.
I spent several hours gazing up at my ceiling. Searching in the still of silence for some sort of understanding. I thought heavily about my relationships, the production of my actions and reactions, my goals, my ideas, my energy and how it was affected by the things and people around me.
I want change in this world. I want positivity. I want goodness, love, generosity, and celebration. Music, individuality, truth-earnest and heartfelt truth.

Many decisions were made. Many things were left behind that evening..people as well.
I looked quite earnestly at the year that had just ended. I had to be very real with myself about the things and/or people that were good for me, as well as bad. This reflection also included an honest look at myself and the things I was saying (or not) to myself and how they were affecting my capability to move in a positive direction.
I looked at actions I was both proud of and incredibly ashamed.
But we must not grow weary in moments of self reflection. We must look at these as opportunities to aquire understanding, growth, and seek a wiser way of interacting with others and reacting to the things that occur in our lives.
You must affirm daily your purpose, even if you're not sure what it is.
It is there.
You are an incredible individual, with a unique purpose just as beautiful and intriquite as your fingerprint. You have a beautiful mind that is eager for you to expand it. Capable of much innovation.

I decided to awake in a new likeness of what we are created from: Love.
I decided to recieve the thing which I was created of, unconditionally.
To feed it constantly to myself, and to those around me-always.
And when it becomes difficult, to pour it all the more on the things and people around me.
To understand that loving yourself is the most imperative action of health that you can make, and the means necissary for any growth or forward movement in your life.
More importantly, to release yourself from all energies, people, and things that are afflictions to your light, hinderence to your growth, draining of your love. You have to nourish yourself, unconditionally-then do the same to those around you. With strength, fortitude of spirit, trust, and a faith in yourself that the world around you might not always encourage.

I have experienced pain. Diverse, intense, confusing.
I believe most pain and fear to be a product of a lack of love (mostly lack of love of ourselves).
It's hard to love yourself..We live in a society that constantly suffocates the tender human heart with sudden distractions, glamorous improvements accosting our simple hearts-convincing us we're not good enough-"you need more"-they say..or "you can be better"-focusing entirely on the external and the temporal.

What about eternal faculties? Isnt that what moves the heart anyways?

Our lives, our art, our favorite music and most chilling visions of physical art, what are they?-Magnificent demonstrations of redemption, sadness, beauty, melancholy, forgiveness-a spectrum of human moments captured by the talent of man's incalcable ability to manifest beauty on many different levels.

There is a genius in each and every one of you. It is genius that constructed you, and genius that sits within you. Explore your genius. Celebrate it, liberate it, and radiate!

On the eve of my birthday I put to death the stammering voice of indifference.
I claimed and posessed the truth of my existence.
I take up my flag and declare myself. I no longer desire it, but command the nourishment of my soul. There is no more prevention in my spiritual extention.
Cheers!

It is a battle. (Not easily won)
You will spend your whole life trying to manifest that innate instinct inside of you-to love, to create, to be in a generous motion-flowing goodness..
But you will be in a world that will hurt you, break your heart, and disappoint your most sincere parts.
People, as much as they are capable of much love, they are also capable of much destruction.
It is heart wrenching.

How will you respond?
What will you choose?
How will you spend your days, and where will you build up the work of your life?
Will you spend the bulk of your days storing things that will be of no good to you when you die? Or will you live a life that exemplifies love, forgiveness, generosity, and actually LIVE. I see how much we are told that material matter will enable joy and peace in our lives..Riches and material possession will never afford you a stillness within your being, nor contentment in your soul.. I do not believe you will posess a simpler more calm and grateful heart by spending your life a slave to your posessions. This is just my belief. I believe it is earnest love, being in a rich environment of giving, loving, and honesty that will give you the peace and purpose that I believe we all search for. This is my belief...I believe a rich life is one rich with love. Where you travel, learn, engage others in conversation, expand your mind, and share your heart with others. I hate bills. I hate having to pay them. I work, I do what I have to. But I don't want the things I own to end up owning me. I want to be a vessel for change and positivity. I work and I do the things that I do because I dream some day to create beautiful things that make people feel good and urge them to love and make the world a more loving place. I know for my birthday for example, I would much rather have the company of someone I love dearly than some physical item that establishes some temporal joy for me. I encourage you all-BE ALIVE. Educate yourself about the world around you and interact for it as it is waiting for you.

There is so much beautiful abundance around us, everywhere-if we would but recognize it and take a moment to look at it!

Why do I feel moved to write this? Because I feel we are the verge of a revolution..
This is what my heart tells me.
I feel that there is so much motion going on in the world right now.
There are incredibly real things going on. There is incredible death, war, so much going on right now that we choose to sedate with self medication, distraction, and over-consumption.
I feel it is very important for us to connect with the metaphysical aspect of who we are right now, and dig deep to the seat of our souls and pull forth the warrior in all of us.
Change your life and manifest your dreams. Dont waste any time.
What you dream, is your destiny.
What you feel in your soul is meant for you, was intended for you.

Do not abuse yourself with the wreckless lies of a machine that is asking you to consume and destroy. Realize that you were created for love and giving. And be that! Radiate the goodness that is stored deep within you, forgive and release. Release negative energy and things, bad people and bad thoughts-and welcome into your life the abundance you were created to enjoy. Be creative, be loving, be confident.
And if something or someone does not want to recieve your forgiveness or your positivity with love, then release them. Do not harbor anything within you that is not founded on love.
Love every inch of your skin and your uniqueness.
Love every part of your brain and rather than getting upset with yourself for the things you believe you are not good at, celebrate the things you are wonderful at.
Be it little or large. Express gratitude daily, to others and to the universe that surrounds you. Demonstrate gratitude to yourself. For you are breathing, and alive.

Realize that you are capable of change-and be part of the revolution.
Be in a motion for change, be a new mind ready for action and tell others to join hands with you.
Declare your freedom and announce your positive motion.
Do not listen to bad thoughts, renounce negative images and poisonous ideas.
Love others around you, for isn't that what you would like as well?

Educate yourself.
Learn more about the world that you live in.
Be contious of the issues that are going on in the world around you, as it is a part of you. As those suffering are a part of you as well, extend your humanity to them, by educating yourself about their situation. If you belive in such things, pray for them-meditate on positive change for them, spend 2 minutes of your day sending them love and goodness-and THEY WILL FEEL IT!
Know and recognize you are beautiful.
Know that you are better than hate and better than fear, rise against it and choose to respond to the world with peace.

We live in a time of much war and destruction right now.
In a literal sense as well as in a metaphorical sense.
Choose the opposite. Choose peace and creation.
Create, anything and everything positive. And move-always, with peace in your heart.
Starting with yourself!
Make a peaceful motion today, to be at peace with yourself in a way that you never were before. Maybe it's a part of your body, or something you deem as a "mistake," you made.
Trust that where you are right now is exactly where you are meant to be, and BELIEVE in where it is your heart is telling you to go.

Please know that we are ALL capable of changing this world we live in.
The earth is truly suffering right now. Will we let it continue?
Little things like recycling and simply having a conversation about what is going on in such countries as Sudan (in the continent of Africa) and Tibet-is a way of stimulating change. Every little movement is part of a large wave. We are tiny little drops of beautiful sparkling water, that if we collect with confidence and stregth for positivity our wave can splash over wash away a multitude of destruction.

Lets start creating change! Lets start loving ourselves! Lets be part of changing the world we live in!

I urge you, dont consume what you're told will make you "cool."-Rather be creative.
Don't change yourself to conform as a way of acceptance. Rather, accept yourself and change the way you look at yourself. Love your skin, be grateful for your individuality, and wear your mind and your spirit with pride and joy. Nourish it. Love it. Feed it.
Be healthy to yourself, mentally and physically. Feed yourself healthy thoughts mentally and good foods.

May we all be contientious of others around us. May we educate ourselves on how to affect the world positivly. May we respect the earth that we live on and how incredibly generous it is-just with it's nature, its radiant sunlight, it's brilliant seasons. May we love others, everywhere, and not put the suffering of other people in the back of our minds. I know it makes many of us uncomfortable, but why should it when there is so much we can do to change it! (Please contact me personally for more information on this)

I believe we are all connected. Lets connect deeper, more honestly, more selflessly and dissolve into a warm and rich love-that flows and gives and is endless.

Part of me has alot of fear about the year that awaits us all. There is so much increasing violence in the world that we live in... I love art, I love music-but I often feel l am this tiny spark trying to burn down an indifference that is way too big for me. I have my own struggles with confidence and strength, that I often feel too small to carry. Especially when I've got a lot of negative things trying to quench my flame.. I hope that you will burn with me, and we can be torches together. Brilliant, beautiful, bright flames of light.

I am inspired by the people around me. I am inspired by you.
I must admit I am often conflicted. I see so much suffering I grow quite misanthropic and disconnected from society. I delve heavily into music and literature, and find myself idealizing with old poets and composers about a love that is insatiable and immutable. Yet I know deep within my heart that the things that break my heart are an exercise for stronger armor. To protect our hearts so that we can move forward and be prepared to face anything in front of us. I must first face myself in this new year of my life, and I hope that as I move past that and towards active motions of peace, creativity, positivity, and social conciousness that you will move right with me.

Thank you all for being an inspiration.

Now i urge you-get off your computer and go outside!
Read an incredible book, spend one hour just soaking up the sun, or go somewhere and absorb the beauiful earth that was created for your pleasure and joy.

My deepest love to all of you.

This past Wednesday in conjunction with a conference at UC Berkeley, Amnesty International launched Eyes On Darfur
which is a website that hosts high resolution satellite images of villages in the Darfur region of Sudan. This new media movement is a way to give a real perspective and a truly in your face look at the issues going on in Darfur.

In the past similar satellite images have tracked the current destruction occuring in Darfur, but this new movement involves more up-to-date images in their struggle for peace. It is a way to track new developments accuratly, as well as watch and share with others a REAL issue that needs outside love and support.

The video quality is astounding. You can see cows and little cars moving, it's truly very fascinating.

Let's face it. We've already entered the new media future. We're already the trembling bones inside of the armor, peering out into battle. We twirl our thumbs, bright eyed and surrounded. In a state of teetering distraction, entertainment, shock, horror, love, infatuation, lust, and empathy. We place bets. Risk our skin and sometimes at the expense of having to fold our soul. Between the revolution of Art, Integrity, Truth, Transcendent and eternal beauty (manifested artistically, socially, politically) vs. Consumerism, Capitalism, in-your-face perscriptions for the dying soul and living socially akward media-obsessed vegetable.

Though the two worlds seem to be distinctly apart, i do believe there is a little bridge in the middle. Or at least a few rocks that we've pitched across the river that we can hop cautiously upon, in a gesture of compromise and grace. We can give treaties and share passionatly, the things in which we so deeply believe in. And though our future seems to be so garishly decorated with self-absortion, self-medication and gadgets, i do believe that there are many tools that we have today that, if properly utilized, can be incredible assets for changing the environment around us and the gorgeous world given to us.

The first step is realizing these simple truths:
#1-There is an ENTIRE WORLD around you.
#2-you are ABLE TO CHANGE THE WORLD FOR THE BETTER

it's only a matter of having the proper information and putting forth effort.

Certain things like YouTube.com are completly changing our entire media experience. It's a simple, fast, and direct way to view and share just about anything you can come up with. And then on top of that to communicate and connect with others instantly through this media. It has also in some degree formed it's own social communities be it comedy, dance, particular bands, etc.

I'm really excited about how computers/video imaging can now not only be such a good resource for art media, but for politics, social activism, and humanitarians.

Just as easily as you can send an mp3 or a link to your favorite band performing live you can now inform someone about something that is going on RIGHT NOW that you can change and become a part of for TOMORROW.

In my sharing and talking to people about Invisible Children as well as many other humanitarian organizations or peace groups, I've noticed how very difficult it is for alot of people to watch other people in pain. It's also very easy to see something and be moved by it, but (often due to it's deeply traumatic and intense nature) push it aside and forget about it because it's not right there in front of you. I believe we were created entirely of and out out of love. I believe we were born entirely FOR love. I believe things jilt and disrupt our love, rob us of it, and break us, and this causes the deep anguish which can later manifest into war. Be it an actual physical war,war with others, or a war within yourself. And in my theory, I believe the reason it breaks so deeply your heart to see this, is because being the beautiful vessel of love that you are, you can not help but feel connected to the individual and almost an innate sense of duty to do something to help or change.

The best part is that you CAN HELP and you CAN CHANGE THINGS.

This new Satellite is especially helpful since Darfur has been an unspeakably violent area since around 2003. Since then more than 200,000 people have been killed and more than 2.5 million forced to leave their homes.

I strongly believe this new form of media will increase the pressure for change. I encourage you guys to check out the website, tell some people, and read up on how you can get involved.

love always,
Star

After the sun had shed its light and went off to bed.
I sunk myself horizontally into a gracious couch.
Which supported, held and caressed my pleading tired body and
cradled me, lethargic, in her warm little nook.
I layed beside a soul I love, very much..
and watched the oaths and myths
of childhood and color dance across the screen to speak to us
parables of truth, beauty, love, and fear

a few lines in particular in disney's "Snow White" struck a chord with me.
When the fair skin princess replied:

"OH! PLEASE, DON'T RUN AWAY.
I WON'T HURT YOU.

I'M AWFULLY SORRY.
I DIDN'T MEAN TO FRIGHTEN YOU.

BUT YOU DON'T KNOW
WHAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH.

AND ALL BECAUSE
I WAS AFRAID.

I'M SO ASHAMED
OF THE FUSS I'VE MADE."

We watched in silent affinity. In affirmation, in our own shame..
in our own hope.
Now i've awoken to a new day.
