Howdy y'all ~

I hope everyone is having a grand fall.  Twas a great time had by all at the annual Chomp & Stomp Chili Cookoff & Festival in Cabbagetown ATL this past weekend!  We in Atlanta are blessed with so many wonderful and talented musicians in the rootsy Americana sector of life, and that feeling continued into the night with the unofficial official AfterParty at the Five Spot, where Packway Handle Band, Smokey's Farmland Band & Incorrigible String Band tore it up!

Speaking of the Five Spot, we have two excellent concerts there this week.  If you have an opportunity to escape on a Thursday night, I can't recommend enough going to see Papa Mali in concert.  As Guitar Player Magazine puts it, "The Man is way more than funky.  He's a musical shaman."  That is the truth!

Saturday night brings you a pair of singer/songrwriters in Michael Tolcher & Holly Howell.  With some common friends between them, expect some spontaneous interaction between these two stellar performers.

It's MagnoliaFest time again (www.magmusic.com/magnoliafest), and it's going to be an incredible time for anyone who can make it.  I thought I'd share the enthusiasm of one of the bursting acts on the scene today, Scythian, who will also be performing in ATL on Thursday, 10/22, enroute to Florida.

"Scythian is back in Florida for one of their favorite festivals of the year.  Located at Suwannee Music Park, MagFest features four dynamite stages amidst oak trees covered in Spanish Moss. This year's lineup is savage and Scythian will be sharing the stage with Dicky Betts, The New Riders of the Purple Sage, Moonalice, Col. Bruce and more and that's just on Friday!! For those of you who have seen us at Celtic festivals or in bars, this festival is worth the trip. After the music stops, there is all night picking at the campfires, drum circles, and just all around carousing till the morning sun. This is a grassroots festival that runs off of the goodwill of its attendees so spread the word and make a weekend of it. See ya there!"

Well, the fall really feels like it's finally here, and on September 26th we'll be gathering on Tybee Island for the 1st Annual TYBEE ISLAND AMERICANA MUSIC FESTIVAL at the historic Tybee Island Lighthouse.  Featuring some of the finest in Georgia roots music, we're excited about this being what we hope is the start of many amazing musical journeys that will take you to Tybee Island.  If this past weekend was any indication ~ the weather was breezy, sunny and near 80, and the water temperature perfect ~ you're in for an extremely pleasant weekend!  With that in mind, you might start thinking about a weekend condo/house rental or the River's End Campground, which is situated just a 10 minute walk from the Tybee Island Lighthouse (The cabins there are a bargain, for $75/night and sleeps up to six).  Please see below for lodging information as well as other pertinent info.
