A dear friend and Poo-Bah/Low End Theory regular, Steve Gauthier passed away on Sunday. If you shop at Poo-Bah at all, chances are you've met and talked with Steve.

Steven Tilden Gauthier November 21, 1963 - October 18, 2009
A music lover, a joker, an Altadena boy born and bred. Born to Richard and Geraldine Gauthier at St. Luke's hospital in Pasadena. Steve went to St. Elizabeth's and later to John Muir High School. He was a drummer, an artist and went on to enjoy basketball and golf, and recently developed an interest in organic gardening. He was a first-rate wit, who always had something clever to say. From an early age, music was an essential part of Steve's life, which he shared with everyone he met. He was a walking, talking universal jukebox: if he wasn't playing music for loved ones, he was telling everyone he could about the newest tunes he had discovered. A DJ himself, he combed the LA underground for whatever obscure and unique sight and sounds he could find, and reveled in the greatness of the local scene. To be sure, spending just an hour with Steve would leave friends and family enriched with passion for new music that they would carry with them forever. In addition to his musical passion, Steven was adept in the audio-visual field, which became his vocation. Up until the night of his death, Steve made music a huge part of everything he did, whether that meant going to a concert with his daughter, or playing music for weddings and parties. He is survived by his wife, Jilla St.Germain-Gauthier; daughter Geena Rae, both parents, sister Laurie Gauthier-Jones, brother-in-law Richard, and niece and nephew Savannah and Hunter Gauthier-Jones. Steve was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 25, 5 p.m., at the Church of Truth: 690 E. Orange Grove Blvd, Pasadena 91104. Potluck Reception to follow. Cabot & Sons, Directors
