Stories & Fables Fairies told me
3rd story - Aurora Borealis
When the Elf princess played her Magic Fiddle fairies from all over the country would gather around and celebrate by dancing to the music lightheartedly.
But never did they swirl and dance with so much intensity and as passionately as on Aurora Borealis Eves.
What a spectacular light show the firmament offered all and any bystander around on that eventful eve, it was magically mystical some said while others argued that it was rather mystically magical in fact.
Fairies swirling and spinning so fast that all you could see was the light emanating from their bodies, blue, red and yellow glows moving at blinding speed leaving swirling trails of light that would gradually fade away in the firmament to remain in our memories for as long as we would live.
On one such rare occasion it dawned on me and the more I watched the grandiose spectacle of sprites whirling, twirling and swiftly circling around the Elf princess who played enchanting melodies on and on with her Magic Fiddle the more I was convinced.
What a revelation! I thought.
That's how Aurora Borealis are and have always been made ever since the dawn of history!
Thousands and even millions of these dazzling little fairies dancing together at blinding speeds around the Magic Fiddle that's how that luminous curtain of colored lights comes to be indeed.
So next time you spot those waves of bright colors swaying across the northern firmament what we know as Aurora Borealis, remember pure magic is in the air since it's the result of the gathering of fairies joyously celebrating the beauty of nature and the miracle of life in all its multitude of forms.
