Tarantulaz ....
‘Handle It’ ....
(CURIOUS)
....
Those mighty Tarantulaz boys ,Sir Piers and
Toni Economides, jump from strength to strength. After their recent EP on Papa
Records they are back with a rather fine slice of bumpy soulful house music on
Piers own Curious label. Courtney Dennie (of whom I’ve never heard before-sorry
lads) is on vocal duties but the magnificent part of the track is the
instrumentation and arrangement of sounds. Delicious 80s synth lines and a fine
beat programming work perfect with the R&B-esque vocal on the Original Mix.
The ‘Tarantulaz Club Mix’ is a much more twisted affair, while US don Scott
Wozniak delivers yet another pearl of a mix with his deep, pounding offering.
Last but not least you get another revamp from Canada’s Jojo Flores & Joe
DiPadova to round off a sublime package of a kickin tune. And if this wasn’t
enough there should be a second part of mixes around you soon!

DJ
Jorj ft.Abby Joyce....
‘What
Am I To Do’ ....
(SHE)
....
Debut release of the new Australian SHE
label and what a kick start it is! Australia’s soulful master himself DJ Jorj,
who you might know from his sun drenched tunes that appeared on Sir Piers
Curious label a few years ago, teams up with the far too soon passed away
Godfather of Australian Soul & Funk, Abby Joyce. I’m sure Abby would be
proud of this release as it has the word SOUL written all over it. Richard
Earnshaw drops two of his best mixes of late while Jorj’s own version is a
soulful masterpiece in the making. For those who like it a bit more beefed up,
there’s a tasty Disco version from Cordery and two more soulful remixes from
Tikyo. Great record, just get your hands on it!

‘Out
Of Time’ ....
(SEAMLESS)
....
12! Mixes to choose from on this latest
Seamless outing and despite there’s something for everyone on it (as you can
expect) I really have to highlight the big talent of Vincent Kwok. His latest
remixes and productions (check the New Mondo album on Transport as well) have
been in the champions league of house music for me and so are these 3 revamps.
Deep, great melodies, trademark beats and a sublime bass all do the damage and
lead to a very special output. Beside the fact that Kwok seems to know
perfectly how to work a vocal on a remix I also like it that all his
productions are not much longer than 5 minutes which is good for mixing and
keeps the tracks short and fresh. Respect!

Yves
Murasca & BK Duke ft. Angie Brown....
‘Move
Your Body’ ....
(MILK
& SUGAR) ....
If you are on the White Isle this summer
you’ll probably hear this tune quite often during the hot season as this could
well be a truly deserved summer hit for the ever reliable Milk & Sugar
family from Germany. The ‘Guitarra Mix’ is the one that will catch most
attention due to those rolling guitars, a ‘Bel Amour’-esque bassline and great
use of catchy synths that together with the memorable vocal from Angie Brown
create the vibe will all need for the summer-feelgood house music. There’s a
bunch of remixes (Bongoloverz, Kid Massive, Ruben Alvarez, Cosmic Funk, Dani
Masi) that cover all sorts of house styles so you really can’t fail by
purchasing this!

Sound

‘Take
My Love ’ ....
(EYE
INDUSTRIES) ....
We all know the Disco massive is about to
explode anytime soon so why not sample one of the biggest disco cuts (Sister
Sledge’s ‘The Greatest Dancer’), lay a catchy vocal over it and there is the
new summer smash. Well it may all not be as easy as it seems but Eye Industries
have come up with a great track, that if everything works well together, could
be such a crossover slammer. By the time you read this we’ll know so let’s just
see, potential is there for sure!
