Current mood:  knighted
Hi Everyone,

We're going to be playing two special shows for CMJ this year, one set stripped down to piano, drums, and just two of our tiny keyboards, the other a veritable Keyboard Spectacular, at the Bell House on Saturday, where we are playing all five of our "regular-old-ho-hum-keyboards" and adding the magic of Farfisa, Wurlitzer, an extra casio, and the set of vibes I got for Christmas in 1997.

[I had a dream last night that we were also going to play tympani in the set at Bell House, and we would if we could, but it's hard to store giant kettledrums in tiny Brooklyn apartments so we're going to pass in waking life until we get mansions and a donation from a symphony orchestra (anyone?  anyone?).]

The Shows Are:

1. Friday, October 23. Spin Day Party at Rockwood Music Hall, Manhattan. This is a really teeny-tiny club where we're going to play a spare, short set around 5pm.

2. Saturday, October 24. Our own showcase at Bell House, Gowanus, Brooklyn.  We'll have our first-time-ever extensive stage setup and play you all the hits. Since we don't have any hits, we classify those as our favorite songs to play.  We are very excited about this one and hope you can come.  You can buy tickets in advance.

We hope you can come!  We are quite excited to be playing again in New York, and won't be again for a while, so it would be nice to see you.

Hello there,

I'm writing to let you know about a new project that I'm working on in my rare moments of spare time from Au Revoir Simone.

It's called Uninhabitable Mansions.

Uninhabitable Mansions is an art collective and a band. The band involves me, Robbie and Tyler from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Doug Marvin from Dirty on Purpose, and Chris Diken from Radical Dads.

We have three things to talk to you about, and we'll keep it quick.

1. The debut album
Nature Is a Taker, Uninhabitable Mansions' first full-length album, is finished. You can get the digital version right now and pre-order a physical copy for end-of-October deliveryBUY IT!

2. The fall tour
To celebrate the album's release, UM is playing some shows in October. The tour will hit New York, Boston, and a few other very nice cities. If you scroll down to the bottom of this email, you can get the details. UM is also planning to go on a more extensive tour in 2010. Should we come to your city? Let us know!

3. The Internet website
UM has a website: www.uninhabitablemansions.com You can listen to a few songs, see upcoming events, learn secret personal details about the members of UM, and buy things like music, books, and yardsticks.

And that's it! Thank you for reading this email. Sign up for our email list on the website if you'd like to receive occasional email updates from us. If you want to write back, please use: um@uninhabitablemansions.com

We hope to see you soon.

XO
Annie

Hi Everyone!

Tomorrow(Sunday September 27) is the premiere of our first video from our album Still Night, Still Light.  Surprising, no?  The video for "Shadows" is going to be available exclusively on DLF.tv, the website for the David Lynch Foundation, which we are proud to support. Hope you enjoy the video, and maybe see us on one of our upcoming shows in Europe, Mexico, or China.

Hello!

Unfortunately, my casio is completely broken and I can't find any more on Craigslist or ebay and our shows are not going to be really great again until I get another one.  If you are living in Cincinnati, Memphis, Nashville, Houston, Dallas, or Austin (or feel like shipping yours express) and have an MT-70 you'd like to sell, please send us a message.

Ack!  and thanks,

Annie
