So I occasionally compose and post poems on Poetry.com. They have daily, weekly and monthly contests, but basically they just want you to post original works on their site so they can sell you junk with your new "Poetical Achievement" emblazoned upon the surface. Which is fine for them.
I post there because it keeps every poem I write online and sortable, and I can pull it all up with an easy ego-search. It's also a pretty quick process-I can write and post one while I'm waiting for a battleground to queue on WoW or in between matches on Magic Online (v.3.0 of which sucks large amounts of backside, by the way, but as this has been covered by just about every major game review site by now, there's little reason to rehash any of it here).
Anyway, I don't have a finished cut of the Suburban Heroes second season premiere yet, which I know is what most of the people who check my blogs come for. So instead, you'll have to settle for my latest "Poetical Achievement."
But SH season 2 is coming. There should be a locked cut in the next week or so, with digital distribution rolling out shortly after that.
Until then, enjoy the, um, majesty, that is:
My Carburetor Is Caffeinated
Some are shocked to learn My car runs on caffeine. 'Cuz usually while I tell them this I guzzle gasoline. A tall, cold glass of Premium, Three ice cubes and some lime. Just the way I like it- Though it burns my stomach some of the time. And it still costs four damn dollars! Pretty soon it may be five! I'll have to switch to Plus by then. Maybe fill with Faygo when I drive. It's a cheaper way to live, though Some scoff at my eccentricity. Thinkin' next time, I'll buy a hybrid. Except... I don't think I can drink electricity.

Wow. We officially broke ground on filming season two yesterday. Episode 2.1 of the continuing Suburban Heroes saga is in the can!
For those just tuning in, Suburban Heroes is the jaunty tale of a couple of slackers who decide to start a supergroup to defraud the federal government of some easy grant money. Hilarity, and some very ineffectual crimefighting ensue.
Anyway, season one was fun, and we learned a lot making. Crazily, people are actually starting to find it on the web, or saw our TV spots, or watched the whole thing via DVD... and people are actually LIKING it! A rather surprising, yet completely welcome development!
And, since it was completely within our power, we decided to renew ourselves (not as awkward as it sounds!) and go ahead with plans for a second season.
Well, that season has officially begun. "Suburban Heroes Vs. The New Recruits" filmed over the course of ten hours yesterday (which is actually a pretty loooong day for indie filmmakers like us with no money-but it was fun!!). For once, I had it easiest, since I was ONLY writing and directing this time.
Andy had to light everything and interpret my cryptic camera demands (Sample command: "Alright, this shot is gonna be real quick. Just light it so that we can zoom in on the walkie-talkie on the table, then move to Hunter, then catch (random character) as he's standing out on the sidewalk, completely outside the apartment." This was at about nine o'clock, when it was completely dark out. And Andy actually managed to get everything I wanted in the shot with, like, 3 lights and a gel. I still don't know how.)
Terry reprised his role as Billy Tanner and has generously agreed to stay on as editor (which means he has a poopload of random shots to sort through just so I can come in after the hard work is done and then take all the credit for organizing the chaos).
Chris once again played Hunter and produced, which also meant that he let us come in and muck around in his home for 10 hours. He's also been creating an internet presence for RunnAMC.
We also had two new cast additions, which you'll hear more about as we get closer to a final cut on this episode.
Until then, stay tuned!

Well, just a quick note 'n update.
Suburban Heroes played well at Riverside, and we are moving ahead with Season 2. Scripts are currently being written, and production could start up again as soon as the end of this month! Woo-hoo!
Also, I just caught Wall-E tonight. Wow. Best movie I've seen this year. Everything you've heard and read about this movie is true. It's as good as everyone says it is. I would go so far as to say that it's a masterpiece. Just fantastic.
Hope the holiday finds you well.

First of all, a big thanks to everyone who came out to see RunnAMC's booth at the Motor City Comic Con.
It was a lotta fun, and we actually sold some merch!
The first season of Suburban Heroes is done, finished, and on DVD ("Suburban Heroes Vs. Season One). It was a lotta fun to make, and hopefully you can see us progressing as filmmakers from the first episode to the last.
There was talk of starting up again real soon, but now we've decided we're not going to start work on season two until some time in September.
In the meantime, we are finally going to get cracking on the unnamed sci-fi project we've had simmering on the backburner for more than a year (hope it ain't burnt!)...

Well, it's winter, so that must mean it's time to film more Suburban Heroes!!
Episode 5 is in the can and will be moving to post-production soon.
Our current plans call for three additional episodes (for a grand total of 8) to round out the first season. We're (tentatively) planning on getting a booth for the 2008 Motor City ComicCon, so it'd be nice to have the first season completely finished by then. I guess we'll see how it goes...
So that's it for right now. Just a quick update. Stay tuned during the next few weeks for more updates and the debut of Ep5: "Vs. The Rusty Fussbucket!"
Later.

And a big thanks to all of you who made it out to the "In a Single Bound/InZer0/Suburban Heroes" screening at the Mitten Movie Project a couple days ago.
It was great to screen Suburban Heroes on the big screen in front of a real, live audience. It's looking like episode 2 will be screened next month, so hopefully everyone can make it.
Thanks again for supporting local film!

I've finally finished my first SH poster mock-up. Anyone who wants to take a closer look can head over to the RunnAMC profile (I believe it's listed in my Top Friends).
In movie news, y'all need to check out "The TV Set." Had a chance to catch it while we were in LA, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Should be playing in an art house near you by now, though maybe not for long.

A hearty welcome back... to me.
Just got back from a trip to Cali. Was able to tour a couple studios and see first hand where the TV writers work (turns out it's in bungalows just across the street from the studio frontlots...).
We may (or may not) have also shot some top secret footage for a future episode of SH, so stay tuned. And if you haven't heard (or seen) already, the second episode of SH is in the can, edited, and ready for YOU to see it. You can check my profile, the RunnAMC profile, YouTube... all the usual suspects.
We've just about got the script locked for the third ep, so once we're done with a bit of casting, we'll get right to filming.
Finally, a quick shout-out to the inZer0 guys. I don't know any of them personally, but I understand that they've just finished and premiered their twelfth and final episode. That's a tremendous accomplishment, and I wish them all the luck with their upcoming movie.
That's all I got for today.
Peace.

And it is... SUBURBAN HEROES!
Just saw the rough cut of episode 2. Not bad. Not bad at all. A few more tweaks here and there and we should have it ready to premiere online in the next week or so.
I'll keep y'all posted.
