Kontakte
Soundtracks to Lost Road Movies
DRIFTING011
November 4th 2008
CD (Gatefold Eco-Wallets)

'Soundtracks To Lost Road Movies' is the debut full length from London based band
kontakte, highlighting their penchant for pushing the limits of the sonic-spectrum,
combining ethereal melodies, celestial tones and a pulsing electronic backbeat to produce
a hypnotic noise with depth, space and staggering intensity.

The second half of the album features some of kontakte's contemporaries with remixes of
album tracks. The instrumental nature of the music lends itself well to reinterpretation,
perhaps most evident with Tim Holmes (Death in Vegas/Electric Loop Orchestra),
remix of 'Ghosts Of Electricity'. Holmes transforms the composition until it seems as if the
music is running backwards, forwards, sideways, up, down, inside and out. This serves as
one highlight of a remarkable debut album also featuring remixes from Twelve (Chris Olley
of Six. By Seven), Winterlight, Polysicness and fellow Drifting Falling artists Matt Bartram
(Air Formation) and Oppressed By The Line. These mixes embellish and enhance the source
composition by infusing their own unique sounds and textures always finding fresh
moments of breathtaking beauty.

In the two short years since kontakte's inception, the band has completed a successful two
week UK tour with Norway's Lionheart Brothers and established themselves by performing
intense live shows earning them journalist praise and support slots with bands such as
The Early Years, 120 Days, Asobi Seksu, M83, Six. By Seven, Vessels, Redjetson and Can's
Damo Suzuki.

Oppressed by the Line
Soft Focus
DRIFTING002
September 16th 2008
CD (Gatefold Eco-Wallets)

Jon Thompson grew up in a small industrial town outside of Houston, Texas. Close to the coast, it's the sort of small American town where his only window into the bigger world of music was staying up until 1am on a Sunday night to watch 120 Minutes on MTV. Perhaps it was this, as much as anything else, that led him to pick up a guitar and seek solace amongst the rhythm and the sound.

After stints in many bands, Jon turned his 4-track diversion into his main project. Upon visiting the Tate Modern in London, he christened the project Oppressed by the Line; named after a quote on a placard under a painting by Yves Kleine. The quote read, "I adopt the cause of the colour oppressed by the line".

The painting is gone, but the music remains. After 3 years in London, in which he released his debut, "The Cause of the Colour" on Club AC30, OBTL stands ready to release the follow up. "Soft Focus", is overall richer in texture and more thoroughly realized than it's predecessor. Soft Focus is 10 tracks of mournful melodies and sonic bliss.

Taro Kawasaki
Sing Me a Song EP
DRIFTING010
July 15th 2008
3" CD-R (strictly limited to 200)

Taro Kawasaki is a 22 year old laptop wizard from Kawagoe City, Japan. He began playing
the piano when he was in primary school and added guitar to his repetoire by the time he
was in high school, playing in several bands along the way. When he was 18 he started
making music on his computer. His initial experiments resulted in some sample based
hip hop, dodgey lounge music, and cheap techno. Blessing or curse, in 2006 his computer's
hard drive crashed and after an appropriate period of mourning, he decided to shift away
from electronic music altogether. He reacquainted himselft with his guitar. Setting aside
his resentment, he moved to Tokyo and rediscovered his love for electronic production
and blended it with acoustic instruments. Lucky for us, because the result is something
amazingly beautiful and fresh.

"Sing Me a Song" is the debut release from Taro Kawasaki. Recorded during three weeks in
May of 2007, it possesses an innocence and beauty that will bring to mind the charm of
Lullatone and the most playful moments of Múm's "Finally We Are No One". It reads like
chapters of a book or movements of a symphony with recurring themes cropping up
throughout. It will be released as a limited 3" cdr, and digital format via iTunes.

In response to our most comonly asked question, I thought I'd post this excerpt from and link to the Drifting Falling FAQ:

Q. Can I send you a demo?
A. Sure.

For the multi-word answer follow the link below, and please in the interest of saving time and postage... listen to and enjoy the tracks posted on this myspace before deciding if you wish to send a demo.  Don't get me wrong, I love hearing new music and those few posted tracks don't fully encapsulate the breadth of our musical interest, but I also don't want anyone wasting their time.
