i've started a little free improvisational recording project in the end of december. i've planned to do tracks for several concepts , and for each concept i will use different instrumentation or something like that. I don't think it's going to be published, but it's cool the record basically for one self. of course i will upload some of them from time to time(222,333 and 555 are in the player right now). The first 'episode'(Trapped) will have tracks on them which chords are based on certain slonimsky patterns ( the lowest notes of the chords in succession are that patterns) and it will be played by guitar only. HEADSUP(5/8/2009): Is 'trapped' is going to be released on q-tone later this year :) stay tuned for more info and maybe some live-concerts, since the solo concert with ableton on the kulturnacht went pretty o.k. (despite some technical issues i wasn't able to eliminate ^^) stay ALSO tuned for tunes of a second episode (NOT axxon, but something different i didn't find a name for ,yet)
HEADSUP (10/28/2009) The CD is now (since about august) available on http://www.q-tone.com/ and if you're contacting me directly. (Makes a good christmas present as well.. ) WANDERINGTrapped1. 111.271208 (trap) 2. 222.291208 (spine) 3. 333.311208 (pouring) 4. 444.020109 (couché) 5. 555.250109 (aswoon) 6. 666.280109 (xenochrony) 7. 777.010209 (waft) 8. 888.160209 (rougeoyer) 9. 999.230209 (dismember) Axxon

April 27 2008 Well, I think it's time to officially anounce the works on a new solo-project which is more and more getting into shape ( conceptwise). Workingtitle so far is 'Maya' which means illusoriness/illusion in indian/sanskrit. The overall concept is inspired by hermann hesses 'Steppenwolf' in which he states at some point, that the main person not only consists of two persons (the wolf and the man) but of many others. and (if i remember right) later he says that even that is an illusion. The songs in the project, will all be displaying one 'person' (e.g. the dying, the loving, ...) Each of song will have some conceptual peculiarities which are related to that specific 'persona'. So far i have just one of the tunes completed(don'tknow yet what instruments,...). and three others started . Due to the flop/failure of 'A stare into space' it seems very unlikely ,that it will be sold/released, but i very much enjoyed the process of making ASIS, thats why i start this :)
Tracklist: 1.----------------(new born) 2.Chére Inconnue(The loving) 3.----------------(The active ) 4.Yoda ----------(The balanced) 5.Cohaghyrt [working as mirror](Coincidence) 6.----------------(The imbalanced) 7.Alasya(?)------(The lethargic) 8.----------------(The hating) 9. Vergere ------(The dying)
(i know the titles vergere and chere inconnue were already used for loop-tunes, but they fit better there ;D )
EDIT(October 14 2008): It will be structured differently a bit. The songs/content evolve around a story, which i will point out another time. The project will still be mirrored: - songstructure wise: first half are thoroughly composed pieces and the second half include a lot of structured improvising. - story wise. Also the working title has changed (Cohaghyrt/Maya [gaeliac for coincidence]/[sanskrit/indian for illusion])
[Lux](improvisational) [''successfull love''](improvisational) [Odysseus](improvisational) [Yoda](improvisational) x [Alasya](improvisational) x ->[Scáthán](composed->improvisational) x [''boisterous''](composed) [''the imbalanced''](composed) [Selma](composed) x [Chére Inconnue](composed) x [Vergere](composed) x
So far I have completed the imrpvisational concepts for 'Yoda'(requires ,like impro-part of Scáthán a few thoughts on practicability, but i'm quite sure it will work), 'Alasya', and 'Lux'(which requires, like Yoda still some 'background composing'), and the improvisational part of 'Scáthán'. I'm also done with 'Chére Inconnue' and 'Vergere'. 'Selma' should be completed ,too in around November. All in all it's pretty time consuming but I'm getting more and more focused on what it shoudl sound and feel like, which might be a good sign.:D
EDIT (December 13th 2008)
'Selma' is completed now. and the first page(and the measures for the whole tune) or so of 'the imbalanced', for which i didn't find a name ,yet, were done last sunday/monday. I think that one can be completed until new year. and since i have my ableton live now, i will start recording in one week :)

Just got mail with some sheets of music(Blood, sweat+tears, thelonious monk) + the note, that the group that played the musical in april, will 'form' up again to create a 'forum that is creative and innovative'. Sounds fun, especially, that the ones of us, that compose ,are free to hand out arrangements of our pieces. :)
greetings,

well, here are the reviews so far. I'm sorry for it being just in german, but i think it's allright, since i have quite some german-speaking people in my friends list :)
Im Booklet steht: sounds (intentional, non-intentional and digestive-sort-of). Aber nirgends passt "A Stare Into Space" hinein.

when i first saw the amount of rehearsal-dates i was quite shocked, and a bit pissed off, but it developed in something really cool. and the four dates of playing were cool ,too. same goes for the response of the audience. at first we had problems with the sound in our 'corner' because we didnt hear the e-drum + the e-piano very well, but on the third day we were tight as hell. The actors ,too, were very cool and friendly. Normally one would say 'something magic had happened' ,but well....no...it didn't^^ but i'm looking forward to play again with the band guys.

Current mood: excited
Category: Life
- CD is going to be pressed this or next week. I will then send it to some magazines 'n stuff. ->Excited :)
-I asked my music-school-head to listen to my stuff (because my musicteacher in the regular school didn't want to accept a CD as an additional effort/blablabla; later it came to my mind, that she propably thought, that I did a pop-rock sort-of CD.) so i asked the musicschool-head. and he liked it and even promised to get me a contact to the professor of electronic composition at the university of stuttgart, to show him the stuff :) HOW COOL IS THIS? :D
-Started stuff for the next project, which will be all composed, and (at least i think i will do it like that) no improvisation (which representet AT LEAST 35% of 'a stare into space' Got to ideas worked out a bit.
First one was meant to be some kind of requiem for my dog (which is fortunately alive still). It's so far a 5-voice peace sounding VERY fluid and non rhythmic. But i think i will split one or two voices into two instruments. Will see :)
The second one started out as a experiment on the tablas :) many odd meters ! some guitar stuff composed over it, yet . should sound quite decent :)
greetings, Sascha
