NIHILISM ON THE PROWL;

This is a fucking huge 56 track double CD collection on the Stranded Records label outta Edinburgh in Scotland. Conform Or Die marks the 60th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and features 2 tracks each from some of the more contemporary outfits that are making anti-war statements in the current punk climate, both here in the UK and abroad. We get off to a decisive start with Shock Nagasaki from New York. They come swaggering through the mushroom cloud with a juicy Pistolian grind as they lurch through 1968 and Shock Nagasaki. Followed closely by Telfords Assert, who seem to improve every time I hear em! These Shropshire vets are dynamic on record, producing crunchy, addictive hardcore but with enough hooks and attitude to get em caught up in the most blinkered punk audio net. The Dont Cares however let the hallowed name down badly, by playing shouty, faceless crud that sealed their mediocre fate. The Threats from Dalkeith in Scotland keep up their high octane Scots presence with 2 midpaced rockers called Genocide and State Of Shock. Ive never quite got the fascination for Demob, coz they sound weak on What Your Fighting For and One More Man Is Dead aint much better. Nervous Tension from Nottingham brings the quality control back up with Sherwood Forests answer to the Subhumans during In The Skys Above Baghdad and Shoot To Kill. The Offkuts were a mumbling bloody rnb mess that even a 70s guitar solo couldnt rescue. Pilger were also pretty dull unless you wear baggy jeans and trainers and live in Southampton. Sticking with the South coast, Intent seemed intent on keeping it hardcore by numbersboring! The Zips from Glasgow appear way outta place on here, with their almost Indie sounding anthem Not In Our Name, but bear with em, coz these vets grow on ya! Critikill sound about as vital as a bunch of nondescript X-factor fiascos. Valdez who conjure up visions of the magic circle, slow things down to a grinding riff before jumping into yet another sawdust vocal and a one dimensional hardcore workout. Label honcho Larry and compiler of this 2 disc package sings in the Square Peg who give us the brooding Hiroshima that manages to create atmosphere with its neat theme tune. Militaristic drumming leads in Blok 1A who come from the Netherlands, but thats about as exotic as it gets coz these never Landers dish out another humdrum thrash sweat fest. In fact Texas Idiot by Arthritic Foot Soldiers sounds pretty good put alongside some of the more shitty bands on this comp. Welsh punks Picture Frame Seduction continue their 2nd rate GBH fixation during Sex War, but manage to redeem themselves on the slow burning suburban nightmare of Disaffected. Assassins from Scotland were a neat surprise, producing some attractive arrangements on Dehumanisation which was only spoilt by a fucking dire vocal. Their other track Simply Me, suffered badly from the same fate. So do yourselves a favour lads, and 'take out' the singer coz hes holding you back! Feedback penetrates our airspace as Manc punks 3CR give us probably their best number Oldhams Burning, which is gritty, energetic and memorable. Cover up on the other hand was pedestrian! Dead In A Ditch fail to live up to their grisly name coz their singer sounds like a baboon let loose for the day. However on Uzi Boy Blues, things improve drastically. Welsh punks In The Shit give us a full on jackhammer job with A World Of Shit, which has an early Discharge feel, same goes for Revenge. One Car Pile Up sum up everything I used to hate about pop punk, and hearing this kinda crud again just reignites my contempt. Uncle Fester from Blackpool have a shitty name, but thankfully thats where the crap ends, as they deliver the rather good Idiot with its sarcy vocal and neat guitar work, plus that great idiotic chorus. Time Bomb didnt match its predecessor. Swellbellys seem to be another outfit on a learning curve as they progress onto bigger and better things during this moody midpaced stomper called Trust. It contains a chant youll be singing along to in the most strangest of places. UK Deathcharge have a fucking great scuzzy guitar sound that is a welcome inclusion to this compilation. And along with their snotty Rejects styled vocals, warrants further investigation. Submachine from Pittsburgh, USA were fat, old gun toting rednecks in the early 90s and their new found 21st century conscience dont really suit them. So thank gawd they aint changed their broken nosed sound one little bit. Shatterhand from Scotland get a lotta column space in those squeaky clean PC zines, and their pissed off gritty approach does have its moments, but it just dont sound authentic to me somehow? The Isle of Wights Capo Regime was a blast from the past when punk was unfashionable, and they still seem in a rush to make the last ferry home gawd bless em. Psychosis is their best track. Lastly Bakers Dozen from Edinburgh kept the unacceptable band name department on high alert. So it was a resounding relief to hear they dont sound half as naff as their hideous name suggests. In fact they play well thought out street punk tunes akin to Lower Class Brats and close this 28 band CD package on a high.
WORTH A LISTEN

PUNK4LIFE;

This compilation 'Conform Or Die' has 56 tracks, 2 by each of the 28 bands on this double CD. Mostly lesser known bands which is great because I always like hearing bands I haven't heard before.
There are even 2 tracks by my old band 3CR, one sung by me (Cover Up) and one by Nobby (Oldham's Burning) my predecessor. Some of the other bands on the CD are Shock Nagasaki, The Threats, Valdez, The Zips, The Square Peg, Arthritic Foot Soldiers (A favourite band of mine),
Picture Frame Seduction, Swellbellys, Dead In A Ditch, Shatterhand, Capo Regime, One Car Pile Up and In The Shit. That's just a slice of the bands covered on the CD and there are plenty more.
With there being so much on the CD there is bound to be some stuff that you aren't keen on but with 2 hours 25 minutes of music there is plenty you will like. Good value.

PUNK  & OI IN THE UK

VARIOUS - Conform Or Die (Stranded Records)

Now then you certainly get your money's worth with this c.d. 2 discs each containing 28 tracks from 28 bands, that's 56 in total from 28 bands if it didn't make any sense!! It would take me all day to list all the bands on here but theyincludeAssert,TheThreats,Demob,PictureFrameSeduction,Swellbellys, and Capo Regime to name but a few. The album is dedicated to the people who died in the bonbing of Hiroshima,as this year is the 60th anniversary, and to the people who suffer through war.An exellent album and a great way to get to check out a load of bands, some of who you may not have heard of before. I particularly liked The Dontcares brand of thrash punk which reminded me of early English Dogs and had me jumping around at work like a looney. "Conform or Die".......Released On Stranded Records.

Edinburgh record label Stranded Records recently released a giant, in every sense, with their compilation album "Conform or Die" A huge beating heart of 56 tracks, bringing life, and gifting to the world, its offerings of punk rock.

Released in the year of the 60th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, no coincidence here, the album reaches out to dedicate itself to "those who died and those who suffer through war". These sentiments continue to echo within every song here. Nihilistic, brutal but always honest and to the point has long been the backbone of punk music. Conform or Die changes none of that pattern, skilfully allowing the ragged tributes to weave from song to song. Never losing the edge and never compromising the reason.

Some of the finest, from a healthy, flourishing and well respected punk scene, bring their songs like wreaths of poppy, and lay them at the memorial of the lost and the forgotten in war.

The Swellbellies, never tame and never meek, only happy in the company of the hardcore punk they were born to play, and now also firmy established as the favoured snarling darlings of Europe, pay tribute with the loud and belligerent "trust" If vocalist Needles ever lost his voice then you could bet on evolution reversing itself for moments, just to cure him!

Threats, huge favourites now as gigs get bigger and compliments fuller, offer up "Genocide" for the cause. Shock Nagasaki, deservedly securing opening track with the brilliant "1968" are never forgotten as the album rolls on. Larry, founder member and the guvnor of Stranded Records, time served in all things punk, also the driving force behind this release, brings his band Square Peg along and they donate "Hiroshima" to the tributes.

Every song uncovers moments and gems and a pride to contribute to this excellent album! And still they come....Uncle Fester. Arthritic Foot Soldiers. Shock Nagasaki again, with a cool audacity to open disc 2 also!! The Zips. Critikill, they're all here, and paying tribute.

Joined as one and sticking together as always. To anyone who has NEVER had punk rock touch their lives, be aware that Conform or Die is the custom made vehicle for them to climb into and discover new things! It could be a fast dangerous ride with corners taken at speed, but the arms of this close knit movement are never far away to protect their own. Stranded Records, through this album, manage to touch other nations without ever stepping off their own soil! Sentiment. Passion. Belief. Raw Truth and Anger are the skilfully added secret ingredients. its a feeling you can FEEL. The strength born when Malcolm Mclaren laid the first brick of this foundation, is still there and still worthy.

Laid bare, Conform or Die is a perverted romantic. No slush, but plenty sentiment. wide open and bleeding armies of songs and thats how it wants to be remembered! this album ridicules the "punk is dead" mentality so fondly thrown by those who wouldn't know punk if it passed them down Leith..twice!

This album shows us punk has never been healthier, never even consulted a doctor thanks very much. its walking your streets, its being everything you need it to be. It demands respect...but hands it back too. It takes lifes instructions and throws them away!

Conform or Die may not convert you to punk, or make you change your mind, but it will squat in your head...and maybe stay forever!! So reach out and take the hand it offers you...come inside...then feel special that it gave you the chance!

Stranded Records gave the life to Conform or Die. Responsible also for adding a flavour and tempting strangers in to eat awhile!

If you only buy one punk compilation ever...make it this one!!

NEW MUSIC SCOTLAND Nov 29th 2006

The Square Peg (supporting Uk Subs) Studio 24, Edinburgh.

When Charlie Harper brings his band to town then surely the support slot needs to belong to someone of worthy justification and considerable pedigree? A local band more than capable of pulling a crowd to match the numbers Charlie and his geezers attract which would therefore ensure the gig maintained the same level of virtuosity and gratification from beginning to end? The answer is yes, or in this case, The Square Peg!

When I asked fifteen people to name two Edinburgh punk bands off the top of their heads, as quickly as they could, twelve of them mentioned The Square Peg. That's a fact! I did this eight hours before the gig started, down Cockburn Street, to any passing person that looked qualified to answer it and claimed to live here. It was no surprise that The Exploited was the first name to be mentioned almost immediately, it's a deserved accolade (coincidentally Wattie was at the gig later that night and good to see him it was) but to score twelve out of fifteen is a measure of the revered position The Square Peg hold around here!

Tonight they showed just why they were mentioned those twelve times, and proved how deserving it is. It was a brave Square Peg set indeed! The inclusion of some new, or rarely heard material coupled with some recent shuffles in the line-up was something that may have brought them death by misadventure had this crowd been shallow seekers of familiarity or opposers of change. But anything new was still gutsy punk rock with the old school sound that The Square Peg are so good at and have long been appreciated for. They sound great live! They have songs that sound great live! They looked comfortable tonight up there live!

Larry, at his own admission, isn't the most animated front man, but he doesn't even need to be. The passion, integrity, respect, honesty and belief he has for his art and for those who have paid to watch him and his band tonight is fingerprinted over everything The Square Peg are doing here. They'll never sell you short or put in a half hearted effort. Tonight, only two songs in, there was a mosh pit with a circumference of almost thirty people! That's an early start! A cover of Black Sabbaths "Paranoid" sounded amazing done The Square Peg way. There was a couple from the album, along with those less familiar songs all woven together with each received as gratefully as the last.

They were loud and they were on home turf and there was never any doubting them.

They may, as always, have brought their own crowd with them, but it's a certainty that they headed home with some of Charlie's in their pockets too!

''THE SQUARE PEG''   Rockers Glasgow 30/3/06

Always thought 'The Square Peg' would be a brilliant live band if they could get it together to play some gigs after a great debut album 'Regeneration' on Larrys own Edinburgh based label..'Stranded Records'.. but half the band that recorded it left not wanting to do gigs...elsewhere Larry found some decent replacements ...
Meanwhile back at rockers
there was 6 bands on tonite for a few quid admission fee it was no bad . thing was The Square Peg were no longer headlining it they were stuck midway and now had to reduce the set down to 25mins instead of nearly 50 minutes worth with a few new songs thrown in a few left out...another kinda tingle tangle or twandle guitar sounding band leave the stage for what i'm now declaring as one of scotlands best punk bands around at the moment 'The Square Peg' to come on plug in hit you with a wall off sound great guitar sound notes of metal and kinda chainsawish ramones rawk and roll at times got to say Needles from the Swellbellys is some guitarist..meanwhile Larrys vocals are spot on no screaming no nonsense and Gary cant mind what other band he is in just gives you wild stares from the stage as if he is some local nut just escaped from the asylum but gives you nice basslines all the same ..Craedo is one of edinburghs most energetic punks an import from somewhere in england and at all most every gig you find him at the front so it was nice to see him behind the drum kit,, as for the songs lot of them where newish sounded great few off the album 'Hiroshima' and 'F**k Franz Ferdinand' and that great version of the Damned 'Stab Yor Back' ...25 minutes later it was hard to take in that was just The Square Pegs second gig ever its just a pity it was too lame a glasgow crowd ..where have all the glasgow punks gone??
but do your self a favour and check out The Square Peg and if your after hearing some new punk bands around then grab a hold of 'Conform Or Die' 28 bands some from scotland others from europe and even the usa on Stranded Records..and roll on me seeing this lot again...for more info on the The Square Peg buy the lastest provoked or check them out tonite ...

The Square Peg Gig bannermans 2nd april

Went to see The Square Peg gig down at Bannermans last night and really enjoyed the show.
The first band were called the Fanny Pads and were awright.
At the bar having a pint with the lads we got the chance to have a good chat with Larry Nicol (The Square peg) lead singer of The Square peg, this made the night as Larry was a really cool guy. Kev got his picture tooken with Larry and from what i remember its what you would call a classic hahahha.
The second band i can't mind wot they were called but me and the lads fancied a pint so nipped over the road to rush for some cheap booze. we knew we had 10minz before The Square Peg came on so a quick few downed drinks and back over to watch the show. I had a sore back so wasnt jumping around just sorta stood up at the front headbanging lol, ahh well was a great show and i would go see The Square Peg live again.

NIHILISM ON THE PROWL;

At long last we get a decent album from Stranded Records and Regeneration in case you didnt know features label boss Lawrence leading his long running outfit the Square Peg into the fray once more. Theyve been around since the early 80s with regular shape shifting line-ups leaving only Larry on lead vocals as the constant Square Peg. Hes been joined on this album by Needles of Swellbelly's fame on guitar who can really rip out some decent guitar riffs when required, which are way better on the ear than his day job growling. Plus we get an ex-Threat on drums and a King Prawn on bass providing the slick backbeat. You may not see these doing regular tours of the globe, but youd be a fool to discount this debut album as a one off coz its the best thing thats came out under the Square Peg banner since their conception. Crunchy guitar riffs roam your speakers alongside Larrys more melodic tones, which makes for a neat alliance in this age of "yeearrghhhh, aaarrrgghhhh" ear damage. Theyve got the tunes and theyve got their own sound which is addictive midpaced pounding punk rock. The Chosen is Larrys ode to the death, which seems to be a popular topic on this album. The track F.F.F. which dont stand for Fuck Fascist Fiends in case you were wondering but for rather more sublime Fuck Franz Ferdinand. And is probably the most impressive track of the 14 on show. Its relentless snotty chanting attack on Scotlands latest pop exports has to be applauded. The chorus is given an added impetus with a female vocal that really creates a sinister overtone. Its good to see punk bands taking the piss outta the commercial sector once more, coz we dont spend half as much time as we should ripping the piss out this plastic field.. They also have the anti war theme going on throughout this album to tie in with Hiroshimas 60th anniversary. And this other prominent topic gets well documented during songs like the pounding City Of Shit or the rumbling, slugging monster of Hiroshima. A song which sees Larrys vocals taking on a more impressive vibe to convey to the songs doomed sentiments. However Its totally turned upside down with the inclusion of an impressive cover of the Damneds Stab Your Back which is one of the best Damned covers I heard in many a year, capturing the original energy and snot of the track. The other highlight was the impressive Footstep On My Grave that used some clever horn sequences sparingly enough to suck in anti brass fiends like meself but exploited the rhythm just enough to seal it stamp on your eardrums. Wasnt quite head-over-heels with the acoustic tambourine lament of Out Of Bounds, but it works and shows Mr Nicol and Needs Help collaborating very well together. Some chunky power chords work wonders on Mohawk Brave giving it a slight Johnny Thunders edge. And to finish off this 14 track album some of the Swellbellys mind-set creeps into the delivery during the all attack of Mental Persuasion as it rams the final track into the wall of Chamber studios. Good to see Edinburgh punk back on the map in an exceedingly healthy form. All we need now is a Sad Society album on Stranded and weve got the set!

PUNK4LIFE;

This is the first thing i've heard by The Square Peg and this 14 track CD 'Regeneration' is a very good effort. Needs on guitar brings that Swellbellys feel to some of their songs but the vocals are very different from his with Swellbellys. I have always liked Swellbellys aggressive vocals and even though the vocals on this CD aren't aggressive Larry does a good job.
The CD is mostly played at a break fast pace but there are some slower songs. I Thought 'Lunatics', 'The Chosen', 'City Of Shit' and 'Mental Persuasion' the faster tracks were superb but even these were bettered by 'Footstep On My Grave' which is a bit slower and has trumpet in the choruses.
This really is a great CD and yet again Scotland brings us more quality music.
Hopefully Needs can divide his time between both bands.

Tim Davies.

PUNK  & OI IN THE UK

THE SQUARE PEG - Regeneration ( Stranded Records)
Bit of an odd one this, not what the band sound like or what they play but the band itself. After a bit of digging around on the internet, I found that The Square Pegs' last release had a totally different line up apart from the singer and this offering has Needles from the Swellbellys on guitar.
A collective band? I have no idea, but what I do know is this has one of the best guitar sounds I've heard in years. I have no idea how this was recorded but I reckon the band should give tips on their
production techniques to at least 70 percent of the bands who make do with a guitar that sounds like a wasp rattling around a baked bean tin. The songs vary between straight forward no nonsense punk rock to sort of rock n roll punk ala New Bomb Turks, with the songs themselves being  about subjects as varied as the place where the band live ,,'City of Shit' to very over rated bands,'F.F.F.' I'm not gonna tell you what 'F.F.F.' stands for but a clue would be to think about a fellow Scottish band with crap disco style
indie songs who have bad haircuts. As my introduction to the band (if they are a band, someone let me know please!!) this is exellent stuff and I can't wait to hear more from them.

RUNNIN' FEART ZINE

The Square peg 'Regeneration' (Stranded Records)

Often you sit down to listen to a new cd youve been really looking forward to and think fuck that was shite. Sometimes you hear a band youve never heard before and think that was okay. The new Square Peg cd arrives at my house and I wasnt expecting much cos Id never heard them before. This is the bollox. honestly!!

Opening track Who are you is a track to grace the opening of any classic punk album with a riff to kill for. Theres loads of great stuff on here too much to mention.  In general the album switches from Exploited sound, to Jam sound to Turbonegro sound on one track and much, much more besides. Theres the odd duff track via my ears but those are few and far between. That description probably does the album an injustice BUT there really is something there for everyone. This album is taking over my cd player its that good!! This is no low quality punk cd. Great production, great musicianship and Larry showing off a voice that can cover all manner of singing styles. In the last 12 months there have been 2 great punk albums released and this is one of them. Buy it because youre missing a trick if you dont.

THE SQUARE PEG "Regeneration" CD Stranded.

I love the raw sound of this CD - well lets face it with
Needs from the Swellbellys on guitar it's gonna be raw
and hard hitting! Fourteen tracks that are in your face all the time with the track 'Lunatics' beiing my fave! Lyrically there is some political protesting punk but it's a real mixed bag on that score and i really like the use of the trumpet on 'Footstep on my Grave'. I raise my glass to Lawrence at Stranded Records for this one especially for the Damned classic 'Stab Your Back'.You wont hear that done better anywhere else! All lyrics supplied.

POSITIVE CREED  Issue 9

The Square Peg - Regeneration
Rock solid, competent punk with swagger. As John Goodman said in The Big Lebowski,'the beauty of this is in its simplicity'. 'Who Are You' is an impressive opener and it is full throttle from there on. A big wall of guitar and a relentless backing, this is punk rock in the
traditional fashion. Riffy in The Exploited style, with a little pinch of Oi for good measure -
Everything holds together well. Larry's vocal is great, like Steve Diggle at his best.
The goods are delivered on tracks like 'The Chosen' and 'Hiroshima'. 'Footstep On M y Grave' and 'Till The End' have both got big hooks, but there is other stuff to be had.
The Square Peg are good at mixing things up a bit with songs like 'F.F.F.' and 'Out Of Bounds'.
Pretty damn good on the whole.

THE SQUARE PEG

"REGENERATION"

STRANDED RECORDS

How do you like your punk? Fried or boiled, well done, rare, scrambled, raw, poached, well I have good news for you because this album by the Square Peg caters for all tastes and its a bloody good combination of punk across the board.

The opening song Who Are You is a even pace song which gets the foot tapping straight away, its your classic you think you know better than me song, "but we know different dont we boys" and you can hear all the instruments which I personally like, good opener.

Lunatics is your typical Blair/Bush anti songs, (and rightly so) set at a slightly faster pace which gets you the listener ready to put your beer down and get your arse on the floor.

The Chosen "Some call me the Reaper some call me god", life or death it dont mater as there is no getting away from the fact that punk songs like this one will follow you wherever you are.

Into Retreat almost 2 minutes short, this number takes you back to when those who had control of your upbringing felt they let you down, some did no doubt, but another, get on the floor we want some more.

FFF Fuck Franz Ferdinand I really would, its one of those songs that causes you more grief than you would imagine, its a clever number which embeds itself into your mind the more you listen to it and when you are in the presence of the most unexpected people you start singing "Fuck Franz Ferdinand I wish you would" Complimentary vocals from Karolina.

City Of Shit Classic punk rock song and my album fav, nice pacy number that will be on the tip of your tongue for sure. The message here is where I come from its a shit hole life is shit and thats that, listen to it and enjoy.

Footstep On My Grave remember when everyone around you would tell you that they knew best? This song takes you there and makes you realise that thank god you didnt listen to those opinions, very good usage of the brass here too.

Hiroshima lest we forget the awful consequences of what happened on that fateful day in Hiroshima. This song gives us a short story into what happened on that god forsaken day, just wish the idiots who run countries would see that light.

Great number, thought provoking and punk.

Stab Your Back the only cover on the album and a very good one too, Im sure the Damned will be delighted, tough if they aint

Till The End a good paced loyalty number again with the message, "If your gonna stand then stand together," its that simple, driving guitar and drum sound, ah yes.

Out Of Bounds Billy Bragg comes to mind (thats a compliment) in this being politically corrected punk number and I would of called it Bullshit Blues but its not my song. Use of the old classical guitar works very well too.

Pay The Price those of you who think punk is all about belting every song in your set out ought to listen to this number as its a solid rhythmic tune without loosing that punk attitude sound, once again if you listen to it enough it will grab your taste.

Mowhawk Brave great title for a song and the lyrics are spot on, especially when you look at life through a clouded glass then listen to this number, all is not lost and it has that never say die spirit within.

Mental Persuasion What a way to end an album with Needles of the Swellbellys giving it bollocks on the backing vox, pacy and punk as it comes number, you wont need any persuasion to get your hands on this cd its that good.

As I said at the beginning, theres something for everyone on this album so dont just take my word, go out and buy the fucker.

Oh! Leave it running to the end for a surprise

Mass Movement #19

The Square Peg - Regeneration (Stranded Records)

14 tracks of true old skool punk from a band that have been around since the early 80s. This album has some really great songs on it, nice to see The Square Peg are back and better than ever. "FFF" is one of the high lights as in the opener "Who Are You".

The Square Peg regeneration (Stranded Records)

Four piece northern band (I think) featuring Needles from The Swellbellys on guitar with a very basic but effective and catchy blend of what is essentially street punk. I loved this for it's no frills simplicity (which I hope is not offensive) on the 14 tracks here in which is so easy to get into and love. I suggest you check this out and see how catchy it is for yourself.

Pete.

The Square Peg.  "Regeneration"

Out of every sound conjured up here, the one that screams loudest, is the sound of realisation that after so many years and personnel changes, The Square Peg just may have hit a home run! Without a doubt many talented, and legendary musicians have stood where founder member Larry Nichols recruits stand now. But did THEY ever make it seem so effortless to play excellent punk rock? There is a whole re-birth programme taking place here from The Square Peg. Consummated by understanding. Nourished by experience. Delivered healthily, and without complication, by a shared determination to create their own legacy. They are proud creators.

And us? We get to take it home and enjoy its best moments.

The excellent "Who Are You" is an inspired choice for opening track. Followed by the brash guitars and distorted vocals on "Lunatics", this album has already got you hooked! "The Chosen" and " Into Retreat" open things up perfectly. Proving, only 4 tracks in, just how good this line-up of The Square Peg are.

FFF is track 5 and we see a slight sparkle in the eye. Never comedy value, but a tongue in cheek rant that will earn this song the honour of becoming the ragged anthem of drunk punks everywhere at pub closing time! Hundreds, I guarantee, will sing it in cities and towns. It's genius!! Next up "City of Shit" is a raucous nod to the way we all feel sometimes, regardless where we live. Musically tight and composed it makes no mistake about what it wants to say. "Footsteps on my Grave" keeps the momentum and leads into the brilliant and very poignant "Hiroshima". Guitar and drum gathers as Larry pierces the moments with lyrical observation. The song ends, almost like a final breath.

A cover of "Stab Your Back" (The Damned) is then followed by "Till the End" and a bizarre "Out of Bounds" which sounds like an acid fried Woody Guthrie number. The album screams its way to a close with "Pay the Price" then "Mohawk Brave" and reluctantly ending on "Mental Persuasion"

This is the first album proper from a band that has been around, in one shape or another, since 1984. Lets hope they don't make us wait that long for another!
