all is busy at insectfields camp, even if i havent been too public lately.  theres a new mix/edit of a track of mine on the second volume in the dc "District of Noise" series.  "you're tougher than you think" is based on an old loop, and im really happy with how it came out.

also, i submitted a track for a comp coming out at the end of this year, but can't give too many details right now.  the package is going to be beautiful.

still working on my new record.  itll be worth the wait - im completely stoked with how tracking has been going, although i havent done much with it in the last few weeks since i just started teaching.

more shows soon, too.

while im finishing up my record, im getting a cd-r out there of an extended track that i recorded last winter.  (and i DO mean "extended...)  "Glacial" is a 45 minute stream of sound that i recorded in january '09.  its also the first proper "new" music of mine in a little while.  itll be $4 paypal, and available sometime next week.

im also playing at the market hotel in brooklyn this saturday, the 15th.

Insect Factory, Air Traffic Control Sleep (Insect Field)

Out of the recently-fumigated American capital come guitar textures courtesy of Jeff Barsky. Conservatory trained on his instrument, as Insect Factory he wafts colourful sound as intangible as perfume toward the listener. The heft of the first of three extended tracks, "Air Travel (In Sleep)", literally becomes thinner as it progresses, eventually emanating bell-like tones which resolve into a roundalay of slightly-distressed guitar, the first time the instrument really sounds like its "genuine" self. "Head Cloud Shells", the album..s half-hour centrepiece, is a seemingly unending free fall down the rabbit hole before ultimately landing softly in a musicbox Wonderland. The final track, a brief coda named "Landing Back on the Shore (By Morning)", is absolutely exquisite, with something of a slo-mo gamelan timbre about it.

hey!

after a busy year, im slowly getting back into playing shows.  this saturday (4/25), im playing Avant Fairfax fest in fairfax, VA (http://www.myspace.com/avantfairfax).  this is the first local insect factory show since last year's sonic circuits.  The Plums are backing me up.  although it would be more fair to say that we're splitting the difference, and both backing each other up.  we're playing in the first block, so sometime between 6 and 8.

second.  andy is revamping the insectfields.org website.  we havent done much with it in the past year, and will make stuff happen soon.

third.  new record.  ive been busy even when ive been too busy to do anything, and sessions are going to hopefully begin within the next month.
