This is a GREAT interview that Greg Dick did with us during NXNE 2007. It was originally broadcast on CIUT radio then transcribed for Maximum Rock 'n Roll magazine. This is really all-encompassing, Greg really knew the questions to ask. I've inverted the high rez scans to make it more readable plus inserted the original photo's where they appear.

Yeh, you heard right, We're all still alive unlike many of our friends (even if just by the skin of our teeth) so we decided to give it another shot. We'll be playing some gigs this year. You can find these listed in the gigs section on the Diodes page, but a little explanation never hurts so here's the game plan so far.

First up is The International Pop Overthrow festival in Liverpool.

The line-up for Liverpool will be:

Founding members: Paul Robinson Vocals, John Catto Guitar and Ian Mackay bass. The drum chair for the Liverpool dates will be ably filled by Rick Zsigmond who played drums in High Noon our post Diodes band in the UK

The dates are May 24th at the Cavern Club (11:15pm)

and May 25th at Lennon's (5:45pm) These are both Bongobeat records showcase events and we will playing on a unmissable Canadian lineup (see poster below) so come early.

From Liverpool we go on to Toronto, Canada to The NXNE (North By North East) festival, where we are joined by the original Diodes drummer John Hamilton making this The FULL 1977 first album line-up.

The first gig is on Friday June 8th when we have a live performance/interview at CIUT Radio Toronto. This will be broadcast and also videotaped for an upcoming movie on Canadian Punk.

Saturday afternoon June 9th we are playing a large open-air festival event at Dundas Square in central Toronto. The bill is still being finalized but expect a number of big names. Latest info. C'mon featuring Ian Blurton of "Change Of Heart" and Katie Lynn Campbell ex "Nashville Pussy" and "Famous Monsters" (with Sean Yseult how cool) are on the bill.

Saturday night June 9th we are doing a concert at Sneaky Dee's. So far the lineup also includes Crash Kelly (TO), The Vibrants (UK) and other acts TBO.

Expect this to be a whole load of fun. At this point there may be other last minute or "secret" gigs in the time period so watch this and the Diodes Myspace page for more info.

Hope to see you all soon

Viva le Rock!!!

During the Summer of 1977 when we were just starting out and running the Crash 'N" Burn club in Toronto Don Pyle was a young High School student. Borrowing equipment from his schools camera club he photographed virtually every event that took place of any note, he attended and took photos at most if not all of the nights of the "Crash" and every other gig of any interest whatsoever including all the New Yorker gigs and so on. At the time he mostly only made contact sheets and a very few prints of most of this incredible material. Just amazing photos of of absolutely seminal moments including the Dead Boys (and us) on the last night of our Crash 'n Burn club, the Ramones at the New Yorker, our Shock Theatre gig, the Heartbreakers at the Horseshoe and much much more. Most of these photos are now being put on show for the first time ever in this exhibition "Trouble In The Camera Club", so check it out.

The show opens April 27, 2007 for one month at The Beaver, 1192 Queen St. W. Toronto with an online presence at the link above.

For those who've asked. yes, you can purchase the Tired Of Waking Up Tired CD directlly from us. We have the Sony Canada version which is officially authorized by The Diodes.

We do not recommend the so-called "Digipak Collector's" version made by Sony France. We were not consulted and it does not have the 12 page booklet with liner notes - in fact, they basically scanned the cover of the Sony Canada cd (poorly) and typed in some basic info (with horrible typos) and put it out there (how "punque"). When we finally saw copies (and they took a while to get them to us), we were horrified, but what can you do? Well, we can tell you to not buy it.

You can order the proper version on Sony Canada directly from us for $12 US (postage included) for North America, and $15 US (postage included) for everywhere else.

Simply paypal the amount to Bongo Beat Records; ralph@bongobeat.com

or you can post an intl money order (or hidden cash) to:
