Current mood: tired
Phil has been asking me to blog about this for a week because he thought it would make a cool title. This is a phrase we never expected to say as parents. We filled the little kiddie pool in the back yard with water and let the boys splash around in it. David decided to put the bubble blower toy lawn mower into the pool. Next thing you know, Daddy Phil is saying, "Don't put the lawnmower in the pool!" Then he and I burst out laughing. It just sounded silly that he had to say that to a 2 year old.

Yesterday I bought some plants and started digging in the dirt to put them in my flower garden. I have a two year old, four year old, and four month old, so I needed to find some way to keep them occupied during this gardening project. So, I called my boys over and told them I was digging for worms. Every time I found a worm, David, my two year old was especially excited. I found a grub or two, but to him, they were all worms. David was playing with a grub and seemed to lose interest for a few minutes because he was playing with dirt (who needs toys?). Well all of a sudden I felt a little hand go down the back of my pants. I pulled his hand out and said, "David, stop that." "But, Mommy where did my worm(grub) go?" Uh oh! I reached down the back of my pants and pulled out a grub. EEWWWWWWWWWWW! I think David had dropped it down there for a few minutes before he was playing in the dirt and he had come back for it. And I hadn't even felt it! Gross. Not where I want to be digging for grubs.

"Mommy, that isn't a bird, that's a squaggle."
"David, what is a squaggle?"
He pointed to a picture/memo holder that has a seagull on it.
A squaggle=a seagull

Christina had her 4 month checkup today. She will be 4 months old this Saturday.
weight: 13 pounds, 7 ounces 50thpercentile
height: 25 1/4 inches, 90th percentile
Wow, she's a long girl! At 26 inches she'll need a new car seat, so I better start looking. The boys didn't outgrow it that fast.

Just found out that my youngest cousin Jessica miscarried her baby over the weekend. It would have been her first child. She's been married 5 years I think. Makes me so grateful for the 3 kids I have. When I heard the news from my paents this morning, I hugged my baby super tight and told Christina how much I love her. I need to send a card or something, but I don't have her new address or phone number yet.

Current mood: sad
I was away in Florida, visiting my parents, and there was a man that died across the street from them. My parents live on the water. Anyway, he was a very accomplished swimmer. He has crossed the English Channel before. He had a heart attack during a swimming competion on Saturday. I saw them giving Dave cpr on a neighbor's boat dock. He didn't make it. Like Grey's Anatomy watching that, but it was real life. Too real . . . . too sad. . .. too scary.. . too close to my parents home. The paramedics tried so hard to save him. I have a link with the whole story, and they also have a video on that page about what happened. HERE

Current mood: stressed
bit lip when he fell down in the kitchen , blood everywhere
climbed in baby swing and got stuck
dumped out all the toys
unsorted the baby's clothes that were sorted by size piles, donation piles, and return to people I loaned them from piles, they were already boxed and bagged up, now they are strewn around the baby room
ate Andrew's cereal instead of asking me for more
poured mommy's Deer Park all over the table
took apart the couch
wouldn't eat lunch because he wanted Peeps instead. . . . so he went hungry
dumped out the clean laundry and "rewashed" it in sink. . . . it is soaking wet now
locked the nursery door and jumped around in the crib
hmmm. . . . do you think he is jealous of the new baby?

I am going a bit crazy. David, my 2 year old loves his new sister. I really don't want to discourage this. But he loves her a little too much! The girl can hardly get any personal space. He's always touching her and patting her. He imitates Mommy, but he does it a little bit too hard. I am glad he loves her, but it makes me very nervous sometimes.
One day he picked her up all by himself. He got her out of her swing. He fell forward with her because Christina was too heavy for him. I found him in the living room next to the swing with his hand under her head proctectively and she was on the floor. So he didn't really drop her, he was still hanging on. She was smiling away, and didn't realize how close she had been to getting hurt. So trusting!
So I am just trying not to leave him alone with her, and trying to teach him how to be soft and gentle. Hopefully nothing bad will happen, but we've had our close calls!

The kids and I had a wonderful time today. We hung out with my sister and her kids, so all the cousins got to play together. They had fun in the beautiful weather. After lunch, it was time to go home. I loaded the kids into the car, and then realized I was missing the car key from the rest of my keychain.
I asked the boys if they knew what happened to the keys. Andrew had no idea, but David nodded and said, "the keys are in the castle." Cousin Jenny, age 4, is very into the whole princess thing, so she has more than one castle.
My sister and I searched the toy castles, but no keys. So I unloaded all the children from the car after 5 minutes went by. We all started searching all over the house. By this time, Christina was getting fussy, but I let her cry for 5 to 10 more minutes before I finally decided to get her out of her car seat and calm her back down. Jenny was watching as I picked up Christina, and then her eyes got very big, about the time mine were getting big. Then she started giggling. You guessed it, the key was in the car seat.
All the kids are convinced that Christina was hiding the keys (because 3 month old babies can hide things, ha ha). The kids said she was crying because she wanted to tell us she had the keys. I still don't think I dropped the keys in there; I think maybe David put them there because he is known for stashing things, but I guess I will never know for sure.

So I made a batch of cookies last night; 24 to be exact. They have all disappeared already.
Phil took them out of the oven for me so they could cool off. I was hanging out in the living room with baby Christina. One of the boys brought me a cookie, I think it was Andrew and I remember thinking he was sweet.
After 5 minutes passed I got up to go get a second cookie. There were only 3 or 4 on the cooling tray. I asked Phil, "Did you put them back in the oven for a couple more minutes?" He said no. I said, "where did you hide all the cookies, did you put them away?" Another no. He was in the kitchen with the boys the whole time with his back turned. Phil admitted to eating about 5 cookies himself. That still left about 14 cookies unaccounted for. Hmmmmm. . . . . . I asked Andrew if he ate a lot of cookies and his answer was "some". David pretty much answered the same way. Oh well, at least it was AFTER dinner. Phil asked me to bake up another batch. You've got to be dreaming! I guess I've got a few cookie monsters on my hands.
