Leaf Hound Records Re-Release Acrimony 'Tumuli Shroomaroom' And 'Bong On - Live Long!'

Tracked down from the deepest temples of space, 'Tumuli Shroomaroom', the second offering from "herb"-inspired Welsh space-doom rockers Acrimony, is to be re-issued by cult Japanese label Leaf Hound Records to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the original release.

Featuring new artwork and unpublished pictures, 'Tumuli…' will be released on CD and will also be available for the first time on vinyl for a limited pressing. It's been polished up and digitally re-mastered, giving this classic a new lease of life. Leaf Hound have also got their hands on the original 'The Acid Elephant' EP, two rare tracks ('Earth Child Inferno' and 'O Baby' - a Status Quo cover, originally released on compilations only), together with tracks from the Acrimony/Church Of Misery split, (released on Game Two Records) and stuck them all on one CD, 'Bong On - Live Long!'.

'Tumuli Shroomaroom' and 'Bong On - Live Long!' will be reissued on April 30

Tune in, turn up and worship the stone.

While their UK peers were busying themselves churning out Sabbath-inspired doom, Acrimony, formed in the wild woods of South Wales in '91, were always way ahead of their time. Combining the heavy riffs of Sleep with the grooves of Kyuss, Monster Magnet and Hawkwind-style spacey excursions, they created their own stoner/metal/psych crossover, releasing debut 'Hymns To The Stone' through Godhead Records, '94, churning out 'The Acid Elephant' EP in quick succession.

Interest in the quintet's herbal sound led to a deal with Peaceville and their second full-length 'Tumuli Shroomaroom' (produced by Andy Sneap) was critically-acclaimed, earning them a five-K rating and a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Kerrrang! Awards, 1996. Despite losing out to Placebo, they made their mark in other ways, taking advantage of the free booze and infamously cheeking off fellow Welshie Lemmy amongst other antics.

Among the first exponents of the UK stoner scene, the band are still generating fresh interest since their split in 2001. Like their heavy-handed mates Iron Monkey, with whom they shared many a stage, Acrimony have achieved 'cult' status, their now classic tomes have inspired a clutch of bands in their wake and originals have become collector's items, changing hands on Ebay for phenomenal sums. Band members have gone on to play in Iron Monkey, Helivis, The Dukes Of Nothing, The Nine, Yeti and Lee, Stu and Dorian can be seen causing havoc in venues with crust/trampcore mob Black Eye Riot.
