Current mood: ecstatic
Category: Music
What's up everybody? Like we said we are usually in a good mood, but the last couple of days that has changed. Over the past weeks, since our shows in Belgium and The Netherlands, we have been receiving every 2 or 3 days or so reviews from our CD and our live shows often in foreign languages. We have been holding our breath anxiously for our language wizard to make all the translations from Dutch, French and German and yesterday they were finally there .... Bye bye good mood .... We're ecstatic, over the moon so to say. The reviews were crazy and our adrenaline levels went through the roof.
The translations were also accompanied by a compilation of the best quotes of the latest and some of the older articles. Although we promised it to keep it a secret, we decided to cheat and post them all in our blog so we could share them with our friends . Don't tell anyone else though :-)
Hey and if you happen to have been to one of our concerts or you have had a chance to listen to our music, join the party and throw in your own quote into the mix in any language you prefer in a comment to this blog. Also if you have spotted a review we haven't seen yet .... send it to us!!!
Oh .... and if anyone knows someone who can repair our ceiling? We have been jumping up and down a bit too enthusiastic after reading all the good words and we noticed it left some holes and cracks in our ceiling :-)
So here it is:

Music In

Seeing the
amount of discs most labels are trying to sell us as the "revelation of the
year," it is hard to believe that they do not kill each other to sign the
group

These five young
guys bring modern heavy rock executed to perfection, somewhere halfway between
the hard-Nickelback songs and the power of Disturbed .... If these guys can get
the necessary support songs like 'This Time' or 'Saved From Falling " become
real hits

If this quintet
would come from the USA or Great Britain for instance, I think they would
already have been signed by a major record label. LastDayHere have more than
enough potential to become an internationally well-known group, let’s hope the
future will fulfill these promising thoughts

Magazine
One always has
to be cautious when comparing with other musicians , because most musicians want
to be called unique. When listening to Marko Duplisak, I cannot avoid the
comparison him being similar to Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. In fact, if these
guys would have hit the charts before the Canadians, it would be the other way
around. This comparison is only related to the voice though and not so much the
way Marko sings, because he sings way better than Chad! A very professionally
recorded album, the songs are driving, modern and well structured. The small
country of Slovenia has an ace up its sleeve. Modern/Alternative Metal, which
will surely also be to your likings

definitely do not have to hide themselves behind the likes of Godsmack or
Sevendust. The band have only been around for 3 years, has endured several
line-up changes and delivered this explosive album as their debut. When you
like modern melodic metal with strong drums, heavy and melodic riffs, breakdowns
and mostly clear, but sometimes raw vocals, this album will give it all to you.
This is how the band describes their music and it really hits the bull's eye and
away from the usual clichés. This album convinces with a good production, not an
instrument goes unheard. Really very good for a debut album
Powermetal.de
The foundation
are beautiful, powerful, emotional melodies that invite you to relax and linger,
while one is taken back again by juicy grooving riffs. Particularly good
examples of this explosive mix are the catchy opener 'Burned Inside' (Hammer
Chorus!) and the immersive 'Coming Alive'. Indeed LASTDAYHERE shows an
astonishing maturity in terms of their compositions and the press kit does not
lie when it states that "From Pieces Created" can easily match the American
standards for this genre.
Vampster.com
Behind "From
Pieces Created" hides a high-class modern-rock album, which can match itself
with any of the releases of STAIND, DISTURBED, or CREED. This is especially due
to the vocals of singer Marko Duplisak, for his charismatic voice is of the no
less in every way than any of the million-seller acts one finds in the US. His
fellow musicians support him with an almost perfect solid foundation of heavy
riffs and absolute tight rhythms.

The melodies
more appropriate for American and Canadian alternative rock/metal bands, result
in a very interesting album, good result for both sound and production.

What makes this
band as a whole unique however, is the clarity and depth of the lyrics. The band
approaches deep subjects with an strong intesity and an ability to pour soul and
emotion into their music; they throw all their body out and expose their
vulnerability while expressing rage, sadness, optimism and pessimism. With this
the band holds both the ability to crush the alternative radio charts and still
pound you with metal riffs

Uniqueness is
something that is often lost in the music industry. Bands try to put their own
"stamp" on the music they create, even if what they're doing has been done a
thousand times before. The treat is when a band comes along and does something,
that, though they bear similarities to what's come before them, they put enough
of their own "stamp" on the formula or genre to say they're doing something new
or unique. We have this treat when listening to LastDayHere. LastDayHere has
something that makes them stand out above the rest. They combine all the right
elements with such balance and style that makes you wonder just where they’ve
come from. LastDayHere are incredibly tight, they have a fresh, adrenaline
pumping, sound of sheer quality and listenability of Rock Metal
Metal Express

From Pieces
Created sounds pretty good: it's hard to tell that this is an
independently-recorded disc and not a major-label release. If you like Modern

(27-10-2009)
A decent filled
Biebob welcomed Slovenian LastDayHere in a very cordial manner, despite hardly
anyone present had any idea who these 5 youngsters were. With an explosive start
they presented material from their debut CD "From Pieces Created" in a very
exuberant and passionate way. ‘Burned Inside', 'Take Away' and 'This Time’ did
more than excellent and after their show their merchandise stand had their hands
full.

The young
Slovenians hit the pedal as soon as they hit the stage and presented their best
tracks of their album "From Pieces Created" in the limited time they were given.
Everyone, and I mean every song was cheered and celebrated frenetically. Despite
that until that evening, which became obvious when singer Marko asked if anyone
had heard of LastDayHere before, not many in the audience seem to know their
potential. Their engagement and energy that emanated from the stage found its
reward in exuberant cheers and very frequent applause. The sound was excellent
and the joy of the performance coming from the stage greatly inspired by the
feedback of the audience to a point where I started asking myself who was firing
up who. The fact is that the music of LASTDAYHERE which lies somewhere between
STAIND, GODSMACK, NICKELBACK (in a the heavier version) and CREED, really went
down well.
Netherlands
Rockascene,
with Delain at Tivoli De Helling, Utrecht (26-09-2009)
Singer Marko
Duplisak made a very strong impression, is voice was to be heard clearly and
powerful and easily matched the quality from the album. Together with the
backing vocals of the guitar player it all sounded very good. This band is at
least as good as their American counterparts who often dominate this genre and
they left a very good impression this evening

Man .... check out this review from our new best friend , Michel Serry who is a writer/journalist for Music In Belgium: The review is in French and we have challenged our manager to give it his best try to translate the review in English. He is just recovering from some local schnapps we made him drink at the party we had last Saturday at Ruthy's place, so we guess we gave him a rough time with this little assignment. Of course we hope he is not taking revenge on our schnapps treat and tricked us in making us believe that this is what it says in French: "Often a stranger invites you to be his friend on MySpace. This happened to me again recently. A certain Mohor, living in Slovenia. Why not? After all, I always like to exchange contacts with people from abroad, especially when they are metalheads. Anyway, to discover a little wide world (without leaving his chair), it will do no harm to anyone. After all, what did I know of Slovenia, except that it has the third largest forest in Europe and that it is covered for 57% with 1 227 832 hectares of forest, of which 39% is mixed. I shamefully picked up an encyclopedia. In the mean time I accept the invitation and to satisfy my curiosity, I explore the MySpace page of my new friend. It turns out that my friend is a drummer in a band. LastDayHere. Never heard of it. Never mind, long live the modern world, with one click I reached the band's MySpace page and a second click offers free listening of their entire album and I'm blown away. To be sure I am not dreaming, I turn the other cheek and ear and launch the video suggested. No, I was not dreaming. This group is simply excellent and Marko Duplisak, their vocalist, is probably one of the best I've heard in recent years. In case you do not take me for my word I suggest you go take a look at the clip of the song "Saved From Falling" (see below) and let me know what you think. If you like the song, please know that all the tracks on the album "From Pieces Created" (available on their MySpace profile for 12 EUR + postage) are of the same quality. LastDayHere plays a modern form of metal, tailored for the American charts. The sound of the album can compete with the big productions coming from overseas. Groovy riffs and techniques coupled with simple melodies that will hold the first listening. Powerful vocals and sublime. "From Pieces Created" is an album that will appeal to both fans of Nickelback fans of ‘European’ metal.
LastDayHere is a group made to play in stadiums. Will this happen, personally, I'm convinced, but, of course, only time will tell. Until then, the Biebob offers you the chance to cheer with us in Belgium this October 27, 2009 as support of no one less than Black Stone Cherry. An opportunity not to be missed if one day you want to tell your children: "I've seen LastDayHere in a small club when they were not yet known."
Of course we are over the moon with such awesome feedback, especially receiving this just before our show with the amazing Black Stone Cherry. Brings on smiles with everyone around us and gives us courage for the future! A big thank you to Michel Serry, MERCI BEAUCOUP (this much we do know in French )!!!! Belgium: Hope to see you all at Biebob tomorrow night and make this a night we never forget and everybody who comes to the show, hurry up and start making children so we can go and hit the big stages

OK .... we don't really know where to start here, but just let's start with some messages we received a few days ago from Dragana, a young woman who lives in ....Serbia..... She gave us permission to post this. 08/09/2009 01:38
From: Dragana To: LastDayHere Tnx for acssepting me as your friend! BIG fan of yours! :*** <3

Take care and lot's of love to your way,
LastDayHere
07/09/2009 19:06 From: Dragana To: LastDayHere Life in Novi Knezevac is borring, because it is such a small town that...we all here know each other's Grandma's name...Xaxaxax...!!! Well,I'm finishing last year of Gimnasium and I'm planning to study forensics at ..Police.. ..Academy.. in ....Belgrade....!I'm also a good singer and actor...I preformed more than 10 school plays! :) And I'm interested in arts! I won,in july this year, the first place in drawing of all High schools in Serbia!I'm also a member in charity organisation that is organised by ours basketball representative of Serbia,Vlade Divac! And I,also, work as a waitress in one small club on the river Tisa!We can make a deal with our Boss about your preformance there,If he could give so much money for that!:))))
It was,I think, february at this year when I saw yours video "Saved From Falling" on MTV!It woke up all my emotions and I start crying...Im stone-heart person and it is hard for me to cry,but that song really throwed me at the ground! It was a period when my father left my sister and me alone with ours mother that is hard sick! But that's not all...I've lost my solmate,to...He died in road acsiddent! :'( Uhhh...Am I bored you??? :))) I just love you, people!!!!!!! <3 Marko is amazing and I love him,really...He have beautiful voice!!! Big KISSes from me! P.S. I hope that one day I can see you in front of me and say each one of you "THANK" for all that songs that makes me go in one different world, without pain!I escpect more brilliant songs!!!!!!!GOOD WORK!!!!!! LOVE YOU!!!!! <3
Mohor told the rest of us about this intensely beautiful, but at the same time intensely sad message. Those beautiful words of a talented young person looking into her future, sharing the things which makes her life special in the same way our music makes our lives special to us. At the same time all this sadness for her loss of somebody who has been very special to Dragana and the breaking up of her family. Makes one wish she would be standing right next to you, wanting to give her your warmest hug, but knowing though that hers will be so much warmer and intense.
We could relate to many things Dragana wrote about; the creative drive and the bad times in our lifes when loosing a loved one. It made us realize that despite these losses, we were also lucky that we found each other in the band and that this allowed us to open our own hearts trough music.
We received the next message ..... we were completely stunned
This is what I've made a few month ago in front of my building!!! I't keeps me remind on reality of this world every morning when I look through my window... Hope U like it!!!
We don't know if you feel anything like what we felt when we saw this, this weird sensation in your belly, a few seconds where time seems to stop, your eyes stuck to the picture, trying to decipher if it really says what is written on the wall what you instinctively already know .... and then the electric shock hitting you reading the accompanying text.
Dragana created a monument for our song. She showed us through that same window that none of us are alone in the pain we carry with us, although we feel at our loneliest when we are forced to go through these times. That the universal language of music actually has the power to reach out to someone far away from you, beyond anything imaginable and reaching back to you through graffity ..... somewhere on a wall in Serbia ....

Today someone took us by surprise and left the following comment on our profile:
‘since when is graviton a major label? i think its funny how yesterday you guys had like 12 plays all day and today you have over 4,000. stop altering your plays its not going to help, just face it you're cheaters and don't have the talent to make it on your own.’ We were a bit startled at first, because we hardly encounter people who have a problem with us. We wanted to comment back without starting flame war, but since what we had to say wouldn’t fit in a comment, we decided to dedicate a blog to it.
Before we get to what we thought we should respond, we would like to invite everybody who reads this blog to send a ‘Friend Request’ to UnKommonSense at http://www.myspace.com/UnKommonSense and welcome him as a friend to the circle of friends we are proud to be part of. So here is what we thought we should respond:
Hey man,
We don't know who you are and why you care whether we cheat or not.
As far as we can tell we are not cheating and like you we are a bit puzzled about the number of hits we are getting today. So we do see what you are seeing. Not sure if MySpace does weird things or what .... on a normal day this year we always had between 400 to 600 plays in our player, but today we also noticed it is out of wack. We also noticed over the last 2 weeks or so that the number of plays were unusually low. Mostly like only 250 or lower, compared to the 400 to 600 we just mentioned. We suspect that MySpace has servers all over the world keeping track of things and that in the past weeks all tracks played were not counted by all the servers into their central systems and MySpace is catching up now. But we honestly don't know and we agree this is not normal.
But what can we do? If you are a 'hater' it doesn't matter what we say, you could even be the one hitting our page so you could pass on the message. We don't know, we don't care and we don't want to make the mistake and accuse somebody of something without any proof.
We think there is actually proof enough that a lot of people do like us and that is what counts way more than those stupid numbers. You are actually only the 2nd person who has contacted us in a negative way. If you care to look, you will see there are loads of positive comments on what we do, no band who is 'cheating' would manage to do that. Listen to Melted Metal Radio in New York, one of our songs is on every 4 hours, we were Indie song of the week at RadioRockCafe last week and we are played on many more stations throughout the world. We know that this doesn't compare to many of the great bands which are out there, but for us all this, in the small world where we are living in and coming from, these things mean just as much than a gold record for the bands who score a big hit. In fact these are our big hits, as shiny as the gold from those records, not any numbers on MySpace, Facebook or whatever you have.
We won’t be the judges of our own talent, but we do get excited over everything we accomplish and although for your perception we will not go anywhere, we can tell you that for our perception we have already reached the stars with all the people we got connected with through our music …. and it is only going to get better!!!
Hey ... we are from Slovenia and Graviton is a major label here. We admit that it is not like the labels in the States, but Slovenia is not the States by far. We’re proud of our labels here though, it’s just a different scale.
We had no problem posting your comment publicly on our profile, the people who know us and the people who want to know us will take us for real.
What does interest us is why you care and why you decide to waste you energy on catching cheaters :-)? We hope that everybody will be able to see what our dream is, what is yours?
We realize that we can't be everyone's friend, but if this is based on some misunderstanding we wouldn't mind having you as a friend at all. Hope to catch you on a sunny day where our count is normal again :-)
All the best from LastDayHere

Unbelievable ….. Unglaublich People we don’t know where to start. We were really excited to go on our first tour in Germany and especially to do this with a great band like Delain. But we were never prepared for what we have experienced over the last 2 days! Damn, Germany knows how to rock! We did 2 shows so far, one in Frankfurt and in an amazing place called the Rockfabrik in Ludwigsburg, which is kind of a Heavy Metal discotheque. At both shows people we’re packed in front of the stage, even for us the support act and a band not many people in Germany have heard of before. They we’re clapping along, jumping up and down and we just had goose bumps (despite the very high temperatures on the stage). The best thing we ever experienced! And after the show so many people came to greet and talk to us. We’ve met the kindest and most interesting people. There were even people who showed up at both shows, despite the distance between Frankfurt and Ludwigsburg. We already want to thank all the people who came to see our shows, especially the ones who already were friends with us via MySpace and all the new friends we now have on MySpace after meeting them at these 2 shows (you all know who your are). We especially want to say thanks to the crew of both venues, the crew of Delain who have helped us with everything and the band Delain for having given us this opportunity. If you have ever have a chance to go see them, we can highly recommend them. Their sounds and their show is just awesome. A very special mention for Nadine and Harald who took such good care of us at the Rockfabrik. You were the best and we hope to hear from and/or see everybody in the future. Watch out for the photo section as we intend to post some photos of the shows we did and the people we met, whenever we find some time and an Internet connection while we are on tour. We will enjoy watching them from time to time with a big smile on our faces and bringing back really good memories. We hope you enjoy them to …. Vienna, here we come …….

LastDayHere is very excited to get the chance to do 5 shows with Delain in Germany, Austria and Italy.
We will start off at April 21 in the financial centre of continental Europe, Frankfurt Am Main.
From there we will move on to the baroque city of Ludwigsburg on the banks of the Neckar river. Our show there on April 22 will be in the RockFabrik (Rock Factory), where in its rich 26 years of history, bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden have hit the stage!
On April 23, we will be in Bavaria and do a show in Ingolstadt, the city mentioned in novel 'Frankenstein' by Mary Shelley as the birthplace of the monster as created by the scientist Victor Frankenstein.
Then it will be time to play in Vienna for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. On April 11 we will perform at the International Live Awards at the Gasometer B and on April 25 we will be rocking with Delain at Szene Wien. What a way to get acquainted with this beautiful city full of history!
We will end our tour with a big bang in the exciting city of fashion, design and football, Milan on April 26.
Although originally envisioned by Martijn Westerholt as a musical project featuring a host of guest musicians, due to the high demand for live performances a real band was formed. This lead to the Roadrunner release of Delain's debut album 'Lucidity' in 2006. The group of musicians quickly transformed into a solid rocking force. Now Delain is nothing less than a real band. A versatile band with an impressive new album called April Rain.
To promote April Rain, Delain will be embarking on a massive tour. It is quite difficult to imagine that only a few years ago Martijn Westerholt was forced to leave Within Temptation because Pfeiffer's disease made it impossible for him to tour. "It may sound like a cliché, but it's the music that really gives me a massive amount of energy. Mind you, touring still is quite challenging for me, but at the same time I really get a health kick out of it. So over the coming months I'd love to play as many places as possible, especially those where Delain has not played before."
Check out below how Delain looks and sounds or listen to their new album 'April Rain' here

We promised to give away some goodies to some of you who would write something nice or something nasty as a comment to out video. So here we are to make good on our word. We didn’t judge the comments, but randomly picked 8 people who we will give away either a T-Shirt or our CD, as a token of our appreciation. In fact it is a symbolic gift to each and every one of you who placed a comment.
If you want to know who we are giving away these CD's and T-Shirt's to, check out our MySpace page, just underneath our biography and above the video of the highlights of our acoustic session.
And again a big thank you to everyone who has commented our video and supported us!

New Section: Personal messages to our friends
We added a new section on our MySpace page to give us a chance to show some appreciation for all the friends who regularly come back to visit us and show us their love. You can find it by scrolling down just above our 'Friend Space'. We will try and feature one of our friends each week.
We thought it would be kind of cool to record short video messages in which we send a personal greeting to individual friends. That sounds easy, but it was harder than we thought. Man .... the way that camera is staring us in the face. It made us forget all our lines. In the end we did manage to record quite a number of messages for some of our friends. From now on we will place one of these video messages in no particular order on our page and embedded in a comment on the respective friend's page. We are fortunate to have many friends and you will understand that it was impossible to create these messages for all of you, but whenever we have a chance we will make more of them.
If you like this idea and you want us to create a video message for you or for one of your friends, feel free to ask. We're open for your suggestions. Of course we would also love it, if you, our friends would make a video message for us as well, send us a photo, or some form of art (we already have some poets who add flavour to our page). You know your attention makes us purr like little kittens and we would make sure it ends up on our page.
So stay tuned and find out if you are one of those friends!

First of all a BIG THANK YOU for everyone who have watched our video and an even BIGGER THANK YOU to all who have embedded our video and/or our music on their own page or added us as their top friends. It’s a shame we can’t list you all of you and thank you personally, you are with too many! Again from the bottom of our hearts: THANK YOU! Our apologies for not being able to keep up with all the kind messages and comments we received over the last couple of days. Hopefully we will find some time to post some of those in the ‘What Other People Say About LastDayHere’ section.
We NEVER expected that the video we posted, would be viewed more than 10.000 times in 3 days. We simply can’t believe it. Please anyone don’t pinch us and wake us from this wonderful dream . All 3 days since the video has been posted it has been in the top 100 of best viewed music videos (highest position 41 last Sunday ) and in the top 10 of most commented videos on MySpace.

And some really great pictures from Sebastijan at: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=64990786&albumId=2651273

Last Wednesday, January 28 we organized a special show in honor of the release of our video clip for the track 'Saved From Falling'. The people who came out were the first to witness this video. You can now also find a report on the show on Carli TV here: http://carli-online.tv/browser/?showid=e2922d14980d225dd386016578de0b9c
