Hi all!

I wanted to mention two interesting radio shows where my 2 of my songs are currently featured.  Hope you can tune in!  Radio stations (both Internet and terrestrial) that play INDIE music are critical for artists like myself and deserve our support, as they are usually broadcast MUCH more out of the LOVE of the music than they are profit driven!).

The first is show where one of my songs is featured is
The Worldwide Indie Music Top-20 Countdown Show
, edition 27, which is part of the FAME GAMES program airing Monday thru Friday on the ABC/CitadelMedia radio network.  Fame Games airs to over 1 million listeners on land in the South of Spain and to over 2,000,000 internationally on the web! The competition to get on this show is very strong and your song has to have been a finalist song in one of their ongoing competitions based on listener votes, reviews and industry scores.  The song of mine that made the top 20 Global Breakthrough Chart of the Worldwide Indie Music Top-20 Countdown show is "MILLION MILES", track one off my current album, "You Like It Clean".   This show can be played ON DEMAND in two parts.

Part 1: CLICK HERE TO LISTEN
(This is the section which features songs 20 - 11 on the chart - hear my song and comments about it in this part of the show).

Part 2: CLICK HERE TO LISTEN
This part features a Carrie Underwood song, the Tony Cowell Factor (Tony is the infamous American Idol judge Simon Cowell's brother) and the songs at the top of the chart from 10 - 1).

Since the show was recorded, "MILLION MILES" has actually risen on the chart two places thanks to YOUR VOTES!!  Thanks, everyone... please continue to vote for it to help it stay on this chart and hopefully go higher!:

If you like my song "THIS IS YOUR LIFE", it's a contender in the competitions to get on this global radio chart as well: CLICK HERE TO VOTE FOR "THIS IS YOUR LIFE"

THANK YOU!!  :-)

The 2nd cool radio feature I wanted to mention is that my cover of the Pat Benatar classic "We Belong" (featuring superstar guitarist Brian May of QUEEN) has been selected to air on
Women Of Substance radio channel's new show:

WE'VE GOT IT COVERED
This show features all female Indie artists doing cover songs.  Unlike the Fame Games show, this one is not an on demand show.  It will begin airing Wednesday, August 26 at noon-3 PM Pacific (3-6 PM Eastern) and will air every Wed., Saturday and Sunday at that time for the next 6 weeks. From the looks of the playlist below, it's going to be a GREAT show and I am very pleased to have had my cover version selected.  To tune into the show at the stated time, please click to this page:

Hey Gang!

Haven't written a myspace blog in quite some time, but I certainly have a worthy reason to write one today!

Just posted to YouTube are two live videos of a super talented 13-year-old artist named Charissa Mrowka performing Country/Pop songs I have written for her at the House of Blues in Chicago. Don't let her age or the fact that she's performing my songs here in these videos have you thinking she is just starting out in the music business. Quite the contrary, Charissa is a totally seasoned performer and has been onstage entertaining people since she was 7 years old! At House of Blues, she opened up for Mitchel Musso of Hannah Montana fame, but she has also opened for several established Country stars including Billy Currington (2004), performed 5 shows side stage with Trick Pony and Confederate Railroad (2005), opened for Lonestar (2006), opened for Jo Dee Messina and shared the stage with the Oak Ridge Boys and Danielle Peck (2007), Gretchen Wilson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kellie Pickler, Bucky Covington and Joe Diffie (2008) and shared the stage with Leann Rimes, Pat Green, Chuck Wicks and Carolina Rain (2009). Charissa has also won singing competitions, been featured in a television commercial for Country Thunder USA, sang the National Anthem at sporting events and gotten radio airplay, including on my song "102 (Songs About You)", which those of you who are following my career know was one of 14 finalist songs in the Country category of the 2008 International Songwriting Competition out of 15,500 entries.  I am absolutely thrilled that Charissa has chosen two of my original songs to perform in her shows and I think you'll all agree she more than does them justice! Please help me spread the word about this talented artist, who I believe - even at the tender age of 13 - is ready for a major label record deal!

"102 (Songs About You)" written by Lynn Carey Saylor and performed by Charissa Mrowka at HOUSE OF BLUES in Chicago on 8-15-09:

Please leave supportive comments here in this blog and also at YouTube for Charissa. She will see them and appreciates everyone's support! To make a comment @ YouTube on the "102 (Songs About You)" video page please click this link and for "Miss Misery", click here. Thanks for supporting this talented artist, everyone! ~ xo Lynn

P.S. Here are some great still shots of Charissa's HOB show I'd like to share also (Thank you to Donna Mrowka, Charissa's Mom, for sending them to me!):

Here Charissa is seen with headliner Mitchel Musso of Disney's Hannah Montana fame.

NEW breaking news since I wrote this blog!: Charissa impressed the folks at House of Blues so much with her debut performance at the Chicago venue on the 15th that they booked her for ANOTHER HOB show in Cleveland, Ohio, THIS THURSDAY, August 27th, opening for HONOR SOCIETY, an act signed to the Jonas Brother's new record label (distributed by Hollywood Records).  Go Charissa!!

Hi Gang!

Many of you that know me only by my Rock and Pop material on my album "You Like It Clean" might be surprised to learn that I am also an avid Country music songwriter.  Back in March, it was announced that one of my self-penned Country songs,
"102 (Songs About You)", was named a FINALIST song in the Country category of the International Songwriting Contest.

I'm thrilled the song was singled out in such a prestigious contest, and out of 15,500 total entries (wow!).  Although, as indicated below, there were 287 finalists across all music categories, my song was one of only 14 Country songs selected for that category.

This was the ISC announcement message I received of my finalist status:

"Dear Lynn Carey Saylor,

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) has announced its
finalists today. Congratulations, the song "102 (Songs About You)" that
you entered in Country has been selected as a finalist.

Being selected an ISC finalist is an accomplishment that acknowledges
true songwriting talent. With only 287 finalists chosen out of over
15,500 entrants, this is an extraordinary achievement, and we are very
pleased to offer our congratulations.
"

"102 (Songs About You)" is an unreleased song, was written entirely by me and tracked in Nashville by some amazing musicians a few months ago.  Special thanks to Steve Mandile for producing the track based on my demo and Joanna Janet for singing it.

Aside from the industry picked finalists and winners, there was also a separate  "People's Choice" award given to the one finalist song across all genres that received the most fan votes.  I am pleased to report that my song received the most votes of ANY finalist song in the Country category and came in 13th overall out of the 287 finalist songs for the People's Choice award.  That, to me, is as significant as the finalist nod, as it's an acknowledgment from the fans, without whom I wouldn't have a music career, and so I thank you all very much who took the time to vote for the song for doing so!

You can download my finalist song for FREE (as well as all finalist songs) from the "People's Choice" poll page:

Much Love,

Hey everyone!

At this holiday season and time of giving, I had an idea recently and I want to share it with you all. Everyone knows the traditional '12 Days of Christmas' song, right? Well, I have come up with my own version of 12 Days of Christmas and am asking each of you to participate in your own way with me.

It's very simple what the concept is... during the month of December, but before Christmas, I am going to pick 12 things to do that qualify as giving to others in one way or another.  There are no rules here other than doing 12 things before Christmas.  You could do one per day or all 12 in ONE day or any other combination of days as long as you get them all done before Christmas.  You can do this for free by donating only your time and energy or you can participate financially or you can donate items you already have in your possession - anything that qualifies as 'giving' in some way.  You can give to only people you personally know or only to people you don't or a combination of both.  Be creative and support some causes that are meaningful to you personally and/or give to people that are important to you. I also want to mention that there are MANY sites on the internet that give a portion of your purchase to various charities - you could complete 12 acts of giving just by shopping for Christmas presents on the Internet very easily if you wanted to!

I really hope to hear from a lot of you and have you share what you're doing here in this blog, as I will be as well.  It will give others ideas and me too, so please join me in this and let me hear from you guys, O.K.?!!  It will make you feel good to complete 12 tasks of giving this holiday season - I promise!  So, who is in with me???

Happy Holidays!!

xo Lynn

My completed 'giving tasks' (final update December 26):

1. I bought a package of 'peace bracelets' at thehungersite.org  like you see in the pic below. For every bracelet purchased, 10 cups of food goes to Mercy Corps' Darfur refugee fund, to provide relief to refugees of the Sudanese conflict in Darfur. With the exception of keeping one for myself, when I get these bracelets in the mail, I will give them away with future signed CD orders. If you haven't bought my CD, but were planning to and want to 'reserve' your order to include a bracelet, write me a note to Lynncareysaylor@gmail.com

2. I donated one of my CD's like what is pictured below that had both mine and Queen guitarist Brian May's signature on it (his on the outside, mine on the inside insert) to a radio station that has been playing my version of 'We Belong' for their silent auction that is a big part of their annual 'Shelter Animal Benefit' being held this year on Saturday, December 13th in Valparaiso, Indiana.

The event gets radio support from classic rock station WXRD X-ROCK 103.9 FM – and two sister stations under the Radio One Communications company umbrella (WZVN-Z107.1 and WLJE/Indiana 105 Country). Other artists who have donated items include TRIUMPH (Mike Levine is generously sending their entire catalog autographed by all three members the same as he did last year), and various items from -- CHARLIE DANIELS (autographed photo, DVD and CD) AEROSMITH (autographed drum head), JOE LYNN TURNER (autographed photo and an autographed CD), PAUL RODGERS of Bad Co. fame (autographed DVDs), Country star CHUCK WICKS, 1960s rockers THE BUCKINGHAMS, JIM PETERIK of Survivor (autographed 'hits' CDs), and something on the way from LITTLE FEAT (donated by the band's fan club). I am a HUGE animal lover and both of my beloved dogs (Mocha & Persia) are 'pound puppies', so I am thrilled to be able to contribute an item that will be auctioned for the benefit of needy animals. With the economy being the way that it is, more and more animals are ending up homeless as their owners are unable to care for them. They need our help! Here is the link to the radio station's page that gives all the info on the benefit, including all the items up for auction.

3. I  wrote out a note in a Christmas card to a service member for the
'Holiday Mail For Heroes' campaign and sent it out on December 9th (deadline for postmarks for this program was 12/10).  HMFH is a partnership between the American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes to deliver one million holiday cards to American service members, veterans and their families in the United States and around the world.  This what I wrote in my card:

'Dear Service Member,
Thank you for helping to make sure all of us have a peaceful world to live in.  I salute your courage, your patriotism and your dedication to America.  May you always be blessed and stay safe.
Merry Christmas!
With Love, Lynn Carey Saylor'

4. I donated an old cell phone of mine to the Cell Phones For Soldiers campaign to buy calling cards for soldiers stationed aways from home, so they can call their families over the holidays.  What is great about this project is that they post up specific requests from the families of service people, complete with names and photos and you can pick your family that you want to donate to.  I picked the family of Michael McCoy from New Jersey, who is stationed in Iraq.  When I saw the picture below of his 5 KIDS posted by his wife, my heart melted!!!

Another great thing about this program is that you can print postage paid shipping labels right from your computer printed and attach to just drop in the mail.
For more info and to pick a family to donate to, please visit this link:
http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/calling_card_project.html

5. On December 16th, I donated a bunch of my American Airlines miles I had been saving up towards a free airline ticket to their Miles for Kids in Need program. The program provides worldwide support for children and their families, as well as for organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with needs for medical, educational, social services issues and/or for those that heighten public awareness of children's issues. If you have AA miles and wish to donate them, click the graphic below and it will take you to the donation page:

6. On December 17th, I was Christmas shopping at Border's bookstore in Sherman Oaks, CA, and while I was paying for some items I wanted to buy, the girl ringing up my order asked me if I wanted to buy a paperbook book to donate to the LA's BEST After School Enrichment program for at-risk children, which I didn't hesitate to say yes to. Established in 1988 by former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, there are currently 153 LA's BEST sites, serving more than 25,000 students from 5 to 12 years of age. The mission of LA's BEST is to provide a safe and supervised after school program that includes educational and recreational activities that are both enriching and engaging for the children it serves. From the close of every school day until 6 p.m., each LA's BEST site creates a safe haven for these kids, and provides fun, educational and entertaining activities at no cost to the parents. This is a positive, much needed program for children who would otherwise not be able to participate in such activities. LA's BEST has a proven track record, too: The children who attend are more likely to stay in school, feel safer, show significant improvement in grades, and demonstrate positive behavior changes.   The books you are asked to buy for the program through Borders are very modestly priced since they are all paperback books - the one I selected under $5.  I'm not sure how long this program is going on (to Christmas or beyond), but it certainly is something that could be continued throughout the year.  Great idea and I was happy to participate! Visit the organization's website at www.lasbest.org for more info.

7.   December 21st: I gave a beggar in front of Ralph's grocery store some money tonight when he asked for it.

8. December 22nd:  Today I donated my time to help produce a vocal on song for a 16-year-old girl who was recording it for a Christmas present for her boyfriend.  The song we did was a version on Beyonce's "Flaws and All".  She was adorable and it came out great!  I was the only one who worked the session for free.

9. December 23rd:  I was shopping at Macy's late at night and I tried on a couple shirts in the fitting room.  When I walked in there, I was absolutely shocked at the amount of clothes thrown all over the room, wadded up on the floor, etc.  I have never seen so many clothes thrown around one dressing room in my life!  I used to work at a department store called Bullock's when I was a teenager, so I know exactly what it's like to be the one responsible for hanging up all the clothes in the rooms and bringing them out before going home for the night.  There was only one girl working that fitting room and although I could tell she was really tired, she was still sweet and helpful, asking me if my sizes were alright and if I needed any help, etc.   I didn't like anything I tried on, so I didn't make a purchase, but I stayed in that dressing room until I had hung up nicely every single article of clothing in the room, so the girl didn't have to do it herself before going home.

10.  December 24th, Christmas Eve:  Went to visit someone in rehab who was not going to get any other visitors for Christmas and brought him a present.

11.  On Christmas Day  I  donated to John's Team  at the "Walk Like Madd" event, which will be held March, 2009.  This is the event I sang at in March 2008, thanks to John's Mom, Zebbra, who brought me and my drunk driving themed song "I Wasn't A Friend" to MADD's attention.  If you don't know who John is, please click the link above, which will also take you to the donation page.

MADD works in more than 600 communities across the country, and has more than 1,400 trained victim advocates on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to support victims of drunk driving with comfort or legal assistance they can rely on.

12.  December 25th, Skip and I treated some friends to a movie on Christmas night - the Clint Eastwood flick "Gran Torino".  It was a great way to cap off my Christmas, since seeing films in the theatre is one of my very favorite things to do. If you are a Clint fan (and really, who isn't?), you'll definitely enjoy this film.  Bitter-sweet ending, but it was the appropriate one for the circumstances in the film.  Highly recommended... and while I'm recommending movies, if you can find the indie film "Slumdog Millionaire" at a local theatre, don't miss it!  Great film with lots of heart and soul and a depiction of impoverished India that is extremely realistic and unsettling (it was filmed there - this is a "Bollywood" film).  "Slumdog Millionaire" will have you both appreciating your life and rooting for the main character in a big way!

Hope you all had a GREAT Christmas and many thanks to all who participated with me on the "12 Days of Christmas Challenge"!!

Love,
xo Lynn

CONGRATS to TIM C. from Johnstown, PA who won the LCS mousepad in the drawing on December 31st!

-----------------------------------
Hey Everyone!  Happy Holidays to you all ~ can you believe it's already almost Christmas?  Sure doesn't seem like it's been a YEAR since the last one to me!!

Speaking of Christmas, thanks to all who voted for "Christmas Mistress" in the November 2008 Holiday song contest at OurStage!

Not only did Christmas Mistress win top prize for Holiday/Seasonal songs for November at the site, but it also went on to place 19th in the SITEWIDE finals for the month!

For the week ending November 30th, 2008, "Christmas Mistress" was the top charting holiday track, the most played holiday track (nearly 10,000 plays in 2 months!) and the highest charting fan favorite ORIGINAL holiday song.
Source: http://www.ourstage.com/charts/11/30/2008/162-holiday

Many of my fans here at myspace probably don't even know this song exists, since it isn't on my main page.  It IS on an alternate myspace page, however
(@ xmasmistress.com - send me an add request there, if you'd like!) and at the OurStage site where it won the contest, which is at this page of the site, along with the other top 10 holiday songs for November.

Now, about this "WIN A FREE SIGNED LYNN CAREY SAYLOR MOUSEPAD" headline associated with this blog, what I am going to do is draw one winner on December 31st from a hat among all those who download "Christmas Mistress" from the OurStage site for .99.  To be eligible to win, you will need to send me your download receipt from OurStage to Lynncareysaylor@gmail.com with "FREE MOUSEPAD CONTEST" in the subject line and I will reply to you with a specific number that is your "raffle ticket" for the contest.  Instead of drawing a name, I will only put the numbers in, so even I won't know who I've drawn from the hat until I check on a list who is associated with the number that I drew.

To find the buy link for the song, go to this page and look to the right of the song player for the button that says "BUY" with a $ sign above it, click that and purchase the song. You can pay using any credit card, bank account, or PayPal account.  Payments are handled by PayPal's secure checkout page; once you complete your payment you will be redirected back to OurStage.com to download the song - very simple process!

For those of you who prefer to buy the cell phone RING TONE instead of the song, I will also enter those purchaser into the contest as well.  Same procedure as above applies to send me your purchase receipt to my email address with "FREE MOUSEPAD CONTEST" in the subject line, but you will be downloading the ringtone from myxertones.com instead of OurStage.  The ring tone is also .99.   You can get it simply by text messaging "LYNNCAREYSAYLOR 6" to MYXER (69937) or by visiting
this page.

Below is what the mousepad looks like, except it will be handsigned when it arrives to you.  I will pay the shipping and handling to any worldwide address.  For those who simply want to buy the mousepad and not participate in the contest, it costs $12.50 (plus tax and shipping) and you can get it by clicking the mousepad, which will take you to the purchase page:

Photobucket

Thanks, in advance, to everyone who participates in the contest or buys the mousepad!!

Hugs ~  xo Lynn Carey Saylor

P.S.  Jerry's comment below inspires me to say that I will substitute either an autographed 8X10 OR an autographed CD in place of the autographed mousepad if you're the winner of my drawing at the end of the month.  Just make sure you tell me what substitution you want when you email me with your download receipt of "Christmas Mistress".

VH1's high profile Celebrity Rehab 2 show, which chronicles the struggles of several celebrities in a 21 day rehab program in Pasadena, California, used the intro of my anti-drunk driving song "I WASN'T A FRIEND" in the show's opening sequence of episode one. Although there's none of my vocal in it, it's very cool to hear the opening sequence of a song I wrote used in a well-publicized national television show about addiction. As many of you know who are my long time fans, I've worked hard to get notice for this song because of the powerful message it sends about not letting your friends drive drunk. Even though it was selected for its musicality this time rather than its lyric/message, it's nice to know the song's "sound" is reaching the ears of a national audience by being included in this show's opening piece.

Hey all ~ this is just an FYI blog to let you know that Vicky, who runs my Street Team myspace page, has posted the radio interview I did with radio DJ Sue Marchant of BBC Radio in the UK when I was there in June.  If you go to the page, the interview will automatically load from the player there.  Vicky is also the one who called in to the interview and Sue put her on air, so she is included in the interview saying some very kind words about me indeed!  Thanks, Vicky!!

My good friend (and super talented singer/songwriter) Tony Moore was kind enough to drive me to the interview, as well as help me out tremendously while I was in the UK and so I made sure he was a part of the interview.  Sue was happy to include Tony, as she had met him previously and knew what I know (that he's awseome in more ways than one!).   Below is a pic of us taken the day of the interview, which was June 30th, 2008.

Also, I'd like to give a special shoutout to another good (and super talented) friend, Steve (aka Bard of Ely) who is the one who originally told Sue Marchant about me, which led to the interview.

Thanks so much, Sue, Tony, Steve & Vicky!
