Current mood:  accomplished

Thats right. December 6th is the release date.
Here is an early review:

"Long awaited full length album is finally here and breaking boundaries. Afro Omega's "Love Emergency" is an album of non-stop hits (rare these days) that really hit you right where you need it. Its feel good, beautiful music that is epic in scope. Futuristic and classic at once. Expect to hear this music on the next apple iwhatever commercial."

If your in town our cd release show is the same day. December 6th at the Urban Lounge (241 south 500 east) with DJ Rebel.

CD available on itunes and CDbaby soon!

Now y'all should know by now that I don't promote new artists that much. 'Cause it seems I've heard it and seen it before.

But there's this dub-rock band outta Salt Lake City (yeah, i know) called Afro Omega that, as Chapelle's Dedon would say, 'spits hot fiyah.'

Damn they've got a really nice vibe. And their vocalist... ah, what can I say, this sistah is a supa diva (I mean that in a good way)! Lady Omega, Elisa, has the most breathtaking voice (some will immediately think Dawn Penn) and style to match. I think imma in love!

Yeah, I caught 'em over at Chris Murray's Bluebeat Lounge on Tuesday. Man LA, did you miss a show! Downside to this was they were scheduled first which was too early plus they had a boring ass audience of wall flowers to boot. Didn't matter 'cause they still tore it up and didn't let their environment spoil their word, sound & power. Authentic roots and culture from a town few of us in our geographically-chauvanistic outlook would like to admit to.

And Elisa did her thang regardless of whether the crowd was with her or not. But just like Bob Marley opening up for the Commodores' mid 70s US tour, the happy-go-lucky skanksters weren't ready for Afro Omega's progressive yet authentic roots. Instead they settled for the night's run-of-the-mill ska cover band you could have sworn you've seen a dozen times before.

After the show, I picked up a CD from the band and Elisa scoffed at being asked how a reggae band of their caliber could have originated from Utah. Begrudgingly, yet patiently, she replied, "We've all got the same influences. We also listen to the Wailers and Lee Perry. It doesn't matter if you're in Utah or Idaho, we've got the same sounds over there." Maybe so, but not everyone has the ability to take what they've heard and create a sound so fresh and new.

Afro Omega! Check it, rudebwoy!
