Joyce Cobb and Memphis by way of NYC pianist
Michael Jefry Stevens
recently wrapped up recording for a tandem project that will be
released by Archer Records in the United States and Europe in 2010. The
collaboration between Cobb and Stevens is a first, though the two are
certainly kindred spirits and no stranger to the others' work. Stevens,
who regularly tours Europe was thrilled about the opportunity to work
with Cobb, and is sure that the collaboration will be fruitful. "I have
played regularly in Europe for years, and cannot wait for the audiences
to hear this material with Joyce - she is going to blow them away!"
A
tour is currently being planned for Europe next year, with stops in
Switzerland, Germany, France, and Austria, where Stevens hopes to
introduce his audience to Cobb and the rest of his ensemble. The rest
of the recording ensemble on the yet to be titled effort include
drummer Renardo Ward and upright bassist Jonathan Wires. Session photos
